What a great conversation with Mark Lack from ShortenTheGap.com, who is such a baller! We first connected with Mark in the Steal Our Winners program, which is awesome and highly recommended. He’s been talking about the model which we are very interested in, and we love the fact that he broke down the tactics of what we have been discussing in our business lately. We talk a lot about YouTube and if you are seeing a lot of people talking about getting yourself on YouTube, it’s still not too late. Facebook is being more restrictive than ever whereas on the Google/YouTube platforms, we feel they are giving us more opportunities to build out your brand and your flywheel.   We love the way that Mark thinks, as he’s a branding guy. He talks about how he was studying the legends at a young age, while he was becoming one of the world’s most well-known paintballers. He then discusses why you need to use marketing for not only your audience, but throwing your marketing budget and time at the guests and brands you want to connect with. And if you are just starting out and don’t have any episodes to show to sponsors, he’ll let you know what to do there as well. When you’re done listening, be sure to check out our other shows with Lisa Buyer and Justin Schenck for some additional chats on how to connect with the right folks while building your brand.  “Celebrities only care about timing and attention…if the timing is right, and you guarantee enough attention and eyeballs, any celebrity will say yes.” - Mark Lack   Some Topics We Discussed Include: Being a loser in school while earning $300K as a professional paintball star How to get more of what you want by helping people get what they want Getting a massive discount when posting videos to Facebook or Instagram How to pre-guarantee results to the celebrity and sponsor One of the fastest ways to build a really big show How to become more memorable and famous for free What to do if you do not have a backlog of episodes to showcase to sponsors The most important thing you want to do during the first 5 seconds of your video How to connect with event sponsors without even attending   Resources From Mark Lack: ShortenTheGap.com BusinessRockstars.com   References and Links Mentioned: Are you ready to be EPIC with us?! We’re changing a lot of things up over here at Hustle & Flowchart. We’re in the middle of a rebuilding phase, completely overhauling almost everything in our business. In this quick episode, Matt breaks down one of the big topics we’re going to start to put a ton of focus on. Today we’re talking about Web 3 and decentralization. It’s something that we can avoid anymore. We talked about it with Michael Taggart back in 2017 and we circled back around with Joel Comm in 2021. The first time, our brains weren’t ready for it. We didn’t know what to do with the information other than just throw some money at some cryptocurrencies. Now, it’s finally clicking and we can’t avoid talking about it. The pandemic has accelerated the Web 3 journey to mainstream and it’s only a matter of months before it becomes the normal way that people do things. This changes everything and those that are still ignoring it or writing it off will really regret that decision in the near future. “Web 3 will be where almost all future financial opportunities will lie” - Matt Wolfe Some Topics We Discussed Include: Where we’re taking this podcast in the future “You can plug your ears and maybe the future will go away” What is Web 3? How Web 3 will impact the way people make money How online education is changing as a result What you should study right now... You are going to love our chat today with Ty Cohen, a longtime entrepreneur, who is now taking over the world of online publishing. There’s a lot of money to be made with Amazon Publishing, and whether you are a writer or not, Ty teaches people how to get your books published in the world’s biggest online bookstore. His students consist of writers who want to get their content out to the masses, authority figures who publish in order to get leads for their courses and high ticket offers, as well as people who use ghostwriters to publish a series of books with a huge audience behind them.   Listen in as Ty talks about what niches to publish in, how to find out what your audience is reading before you pick a subject, and how he teaches his students to market. He also discusses where to advertise, how to repurpose your content and where to find people to write for you as well as create audio books. Lastly, Ty chats about some opportunities he has outside of the publishing world and his thoughts on NFTs and leaving a legacy. After you have listened and realized the opportunity behind publishing, check out our chats with Laura Gale and Rob Kosberg for even more insight and vision into the world of self-publishing.    “In internet marketing we always hear that you want to go with the niches, which is fine sometimes. But when you want to make a lot of money…when you want to be to the point where you are continuously making cash where it’s hard to shut it off, you want to go where the markets are wide and evergreen.” - Ty Cohen    Some Topics We Discussed Include:   What niches to look at when publishing Example of categories where  Ty’s students are crushing it, including Ty’s teenage son who is make $4K a month publishing in one particular category The easiest way to get someone to buy from you Writing a book vs. hiring a ghostwriter Creating a journey for your reader where they will want to buy from you over and over again The one important approach that most non-fiction authors are missing The 3 must have criteria when you are doing your market research How to repurpose the book you’ve already made and where to hire people to make it an easy process   Resources From Ty Cohen:   KCFLive.com KindleCashFlow.com   References and Links Mentioned:   Upwork Guru Fiverr  Rev.com  Otter.ai  Are you ready to be EPIC with us?! We’re back with another Therapy Session! In this episode, we consider renaming our show (just kidding!) and dive into some of our takeaways from attending the Traffic & Conversion Summit. It was a great event and there was a LOT going on. We chat about  how we set up our booth, some things we learned about the ins and outs of renting a booth, how we changed our tactics as the event went on and some of the amazing people we chatted with while we were there.   There were some things we did purposely to make sure our booth was not only one of the most inviting and interesting ones there, but attracted great conversations with attendees and sponsors alike. He’s one of the original internet marketers, and he’s a guy who sees trends and has a pretty good hit rate. This is one of those rabbit holes that we’ve gotten into outside of the podcast, and now is a great time to be aware of all the tech and utilities that are associated with a lot of these things. There are so many different ways to use the blockchain technology, and we’d love it if you would let us know if this is something you'd like us to talk about more in future episodes. Nothing in this episode is financial advice by the way, but it’s valuable to have conversations about it. Joel has been online for years, and he pivots fast and launches on a technology where he can have fun. You will get some great ideas on how Joel approaches tech. The way he explains his pivots is similar to the way we’ve done things as well, as we find little things we are interested in, then we explore it and love to share what we have learned with others. He also dives into the future of NFT’s, so many different ways to use blockchain technology and some of his favorite alt coins. Once you have listened, check out our chats with Mike Koenigs and Archit Batlaw for more insights into what the future holds for technology and business. “I don’t think there’s any true visionary aspect to it, it’s just that way I’m wired, I tend to pay attention to what’s happening and dabble.” - Joel Comm   Some Topics We Discussed Include: The secret sauce behind Joel’s successful life The best kept secret in the NFT world Red flags to look out for in the crypto world A new internet network and how you can be a part of it How to find alt coins to invest in So many other options with NFT’s other than artwork   Resources From Joel Comm: The Next Internet Millionaire Bad Crypto Podcast The Fun Formula Badco.in/discord BCHeroes.com                 References and Links Mentioned: CoinGecko.com DustMiners.com Wax Uniswap  Coinbase Are you ready to be EPIC with us?! It was a true pleasure and honor to have Dr. Robert Cialdini on the show today, author of one of the most well-known books that many of our guests have referenced. When we got into marketing and entrepreneurship, one of the first books we read was his Influence, which explained the principles of how to execute what we put out into the world. Now with this updated, expanded version, it has been blowing our minds in terms of how practical it is, especially with a brand new principle added. Dr. Cialdini showed us how to get the ethical ‘yes’ and use these persuasion tactics in a very ethical way.  He also discusses the ethical use of scarcity, with limitations on the number of the product, as well as countdown timers. He also talks about how he did not write his famous book for marketers, he wrote it as a book to learn how to avoid being influenced by others. Some other topics we chat about include the Unity Principle and understanding how you look at things differently when you identify with others in the same group. We also talked about the trust factor, and when you take the power away from the buyer by sharing the bad stuff first to create trust and a bond. We have shared our struggles with our guests and on our Therapy Sessions, and we have found this to be very powerful. Lastly, we had an opportunity to ask some questions from our audience, so listen in if yours was included. After you’ve delved into this episode be sure to check out our show that we mentioned about branding as well as our chat with Neil Patel who also knows a thing or two about growing your brand in an ethical way. “People who are successful have recognized how these principles work at some level. What they often don’t recognize is how to optimize them, and the steps to take that not only activate the principle but maximize its impact in a situation.” - Dr. Robert Cialdini Some Topics We Discussed Include: The universal things taught to businesses in order to be successful Why Dr. Cialdini’s book was not meant to be the bible for internet marketers If you have this one particular kind of authority, no one can beat you as a communicator An interesting study about showing your expertise The magic of sharing your weaknesses How to use this one word to get someone to trust you from the very first meeting How to implement scarcity in situations where there really is none What to tell people if you are early in the game Resources From Dr. Robert Cialdini: Influence by Dr. Robert Cialdini InfluenceAtWork.com References and Links Mentioned: Are you ready to be EPIC with us?! Mandy McEwen from ModGirlMarketing.com, brought the goods today as this episode has a boatload of tactics on how to connect and showcase your brand on LinkedIn. When Mandy told us that only 1% of users are actively posting on that platform, it really opened up our eyes to the possibilities. While LinkedIn may not be the answer for everyone, chances are your audience is on there. To be successful on LinkedIn, you really want to do what everyone else is not doing, i.e. acting like a human being without constantly pitching.  Mandy talks about some cool tips to dial in your profile to make you stand out as an influencer leader and how there are different features on the mobile app which you can optimize. She also discusses how her own clients have grown without even posting, but just by engaging. BJ Fogg, PhD, author of Tiny Habits and TinyHabits.com is on the show today! We have been immersed lately in understanding changes and our own habits, which have led to some self-sabotage at times. BJ talks about the concept of breaking the chain and how it can be detrimental to your progress. If your habit is too big, it can be hard to build up the momentum to continue. Plus, celebrating micro wins can be a huge motivator and they can come with every action that you do. BJ talked about his mission in spreading that ripple effect that will pass on to others, similar to how we love having fun while recording. He also gave us some real-life examples of creating tiny habits that stuck, such as how he was able to shed weight easily and how he starts his day in the right way to set his mind up for success. Still want more? Go check out our previous conversations with Anthony Trucks and Erin Pheil for more tricks to get you unstuck with some simple questions and quick tactics. “The best system whether it’s weight loss, sleeping better, or being more productive, is matching yourself with behaviors that will take you to that outcome, and these behaviors should be ones that you already want to do.” - BJ Fogg, PhD Some Topics We Discussed Include: How one way of raising kids helps them to foster a sense of accomplishment and be goal orientated How emotions create the habits Breaking down the Fogg Behavior Model The Maui Habit and celebrating life BJ’s easy method for weight loss Stopping the derailment of habits when your environment changes The simple act of celebrating even the smallest of actions Breaking the habit myths (hint: repetition does not create a habit) Resources From BJ Fogg: TinyHabits.com - Grab the book and take the free 5-day program BJFogg.com References and Links Mentioned: Humor, Seriously by Jennifer Aaker and Naomi Bagdonas The Gap and The Gain by Dan Sullivan and Benjamin Hardy Are you ready to be EPIC with us?! This episode is going to be a great extension of what we have been chatting about in the last few weeks. Also, since we’ve been talking a lot about branding, we are back to branding these episodes as a Therapy Session once again. There’s been some great opportunities that we have been discussing for a while, specifically in the creator economy. We now see our company as a media company rather than just a podcast. We also know there are those listeners who are not necessarily trying to create a media brand, so we wanted to speak to that audience. If you know that the creator economy is getting bigger, there’s never been a better time to figure out how to sell the shovels to that industry without having to be an influencer.  We talk about the opportunities that we see in the creator economy and some cool stats that compare it to the gig economy. We also drop some insight into how you, as an entrepreneur can use this opportunity. Once you become aware of where the money and attention is flowing, you can position yourself and ride that wave with the creators. It’s a smart approach and we’ll talk about some ways where it’s not you building the media company, but you can be the specialist to provide your services to those on the rise, even positioning yourself for rev deals and partnership. Once you listened, be sure to check out our chats with Gary Henderson and Travis Chappell for tips on how to make connections and network with influencers on a level playing field. “Position yourself properly and strategically - anyone can do that now with the creator/influencer economy.” - Joe Fier “The fact that each one of these things has so many subtasks, is a huge opportunity for digital marketers who want to go and specialize in one of those. Just look at YouTube, and look at one of the tasks you’ve got to do for YouTube. There’s a business there that you can go and replicate for people over and over again.” - Matt Wolfe Some Topics We Discussed Include: Examples of opportunities that never existed before, which you can specialize in and build a business around Some interesting stats on where the creator economy is headed A look behind the scenes of how we are building our media company Generalists vs. specialists in the agency world, and how the pandemic has switched things up Ideas on how to leverage the creator economy  Steal one of our business ideas and run with it! On today’s show, we are chatting with Brian Bogert, of BrianBogert.com, who has a wealth of perspectives, and we’ll definitely do a round two, as he opened up so many loops for us. He’s got so many crazy experiences that have happened and shaped who he is. We talk about podcasting and some things that we didn’t even know which we know you will find helpful. Brian also chatted about his perspective in regards to mindset vs. tactics, and our survey that we put out last year, which we now know is not that cut and dry, and actually has a few layers to those results.  He’s got such great insights into triggers, and how to embrace the pain to avoid suffering, and gave us some real-life examples. The beauty of this conversation is showing how we can be blind to some things until they show up. We did talk a little about imposter syndrome and how we get it sometimes around tangents on the show if we don’t think we can add to the conversation. Brian was able to enlighten us since we now know to just say what we are thinking and awaken the sleeping giant in ourselves, which is very refreshing. There were so many a-ha moments in this conversation, that we will definitely be having Brian back for round two. In the meantime, you may enjoy our chats with Gabby Bernstein and JaMarr Johnson where we chat about how to get into a flow and get yourself on the best track.    “Typically what’s preventing us from being exactly who we want to be, reaching our potential, and having the impact on the world we desire... guess what - it’s us.” - Brian Bogert Some Topics We Discussed Include: How the recent events over the last year have created a boom for podcasting The magic of valuable sound bites that convert to attention and downloads Redefining the patterns in your life that have been holding you back When we surveyed our audience on Tactics vs. Mindset and how they are not mutually exclusive Recognizing who we are as humans and defining mental toughness The importance of knowing someone’s prime narrative to communicate with them in the best way possible The stuff that no one is talking about in regards to changing the patterns in our own life Check out Matt’s eloquent thought process on reacting to the metaphysical nature of the conversation A new framework on how to view imposter syndrome Recognizing pain and suffering to go forth to fulfilling our destiny Resources From Brian Bogert: BrianBogert.com WhoBeforeWhat.com  602-704-5189 - text Brian and tell him how much you loved this show! This is a show for those of you thinking about podcasting and YouTube and for those who are not, you still should listen in. We are going to be talking about content creation on the platforms everyone is going to these days. We chat about recent stats, predictions and where things are headed. There’s a lot of cool things that we have been noticing, that we think will help everyone.  We’ve been pretty tapped in with what’s been happening in the podcasting space in the past few years, and our gut reactions have been pretty accurate. You’ll hear our thoughts about ClubHouse, Spotify, Fireside and, yes, even OnlyFans. Plus we deep dive into a poll by Edison Research that shows some interesting data in regards to where podcast listeners are hanging out for both searching and listening. So check it out, and when you are done be sure to have a listen to our chats with Rob Balasabas and Marc Guberti who drop some golden nuggets on how to maximize your YouTube views, as well as best practices for your descriptions, keywords and tags.  “There’s so much opportunity to leverage other people’s work and show up as a recommended video.” - Joe Fier “Anywhere you can have your content, have your content available there, because these trends might shift over time, so might as well be where everyone’s looking.” - Matt Wolfe Some Topics We Discussed Include: Why we’ve been putting our focus on YouTube based on data Interesting stats about where people are listening now and more trends that we’ve been eyeing for a while What really bugs Matt about Spotify? Did you know that our guest today is the reason behind Russell Brunson’s success? Today, we have Armand Morin on the show, and it was so cool to go down a page in history, as he talked about the early days of internet marketing way back in 1996. He tells the story of how he made over one million dollars selling bookmarks in the days before payment processors. Also, his email strategy and MAE framework were interesting to us, as well as how he doesn’t believe in funnels. He has flipped the idea of the funnel into more of a pipeline and gave us a dissertation on how to do email with this approach. We also chat about his email sequence based on webinars, which was another massive topic. This show was much more tactical than we thought, as Armand covered email strategies, webinar strategies, and even how to become a country music star. He’s also a national champion with Tai Kwon Do, and follows that whole “Success Leaves Traces” philosophy, which you can learn about in his book of the same name. After you’ve listened, you might enjoy our episodes with Dale Beaumont and David Jenyns for more tips on creating systems to save time and work smarter.  Lastly, if you are heading to Traffic & Conversions Summit, be sure to stop by our booth in the expo area and come say hello! There will be challenges, fun, and prizes! If you want to come network and hang out with us, we are going to be throwing a huge party at Mission Brewery in San Diego on Tuesday evening. There will be sponsors (if you want to sponsor, hit us up!) and we promise this will be a super fun party that you do not want to miss.  “At 3 hours into my whole internet career, I find this website that says ‘If you give me $20, I will put a link on my site that will link to your site and because I’m advertising so much, you’re going to get a lot of traffic to your site’ and I thought, Oh man, that’s brilliant!” - Armand Morin Some Topics We Discussed Include: How to hack your way into becoming a huge country music star Avoiding a painful, first business lesson  The early days of selling links and having to print out paper checks! How Armand created the world’s original search engine What happens when you get your merchant account shut down when you are on track to make over $150,000,000 in a year Why you want to think of selling through a pipeline, not a marketing funnel The early days of the Warrior Forum - who knew?! This episode has been a long time coming, as we have been thinking about some of this stuff since 2013. We have Anthony Trucks joining us again for round two, and we had an absolute ball. Anthony has a new book coming out, Identity Shift, which we discuss in-depth on today’s episode. This was an impactful and timely episode, and one of the things we talked about was how there are people who want variety in life, and then there are people who want stability. For example, even in our own business, our new studio is the mechanism for wanting to change things up, as things were getting a little monotonous. Another analogy that Anthony discussed was the ball analogy, where the ball that you kicked far away is your goal and when it’s too far, the doubt comes in. So when it comes to goal setting, if you build too grand of a vision, you can get into mental trouble because that ball needs to be a little closer.  He talks about people who constantly consume and don’t take any action, so the more you consume, the heavier that ball becomes. Also, he talks about how one of the goals of his book is to clarify how to close the identity gap so you can upgrade your life to the next level. There’s a lot of good stuff in this one, and after you have listened, we have some great shows from our vault you should check out, including our previous show with Anthony and our chat with Nir Eyal that deals with mindset, becoming more products, and getting valuable feedback to make better business decisions. “At the end of the day, your identity has to match your dream or it will never be realized. A lot of people have dreams that are far beyond their current identity...the cool thing is as you shift into it, you simultaneously transform as a human, but you also achieve that thing.” - Anthony Trucks Some Topics We Discussed Include: How our chairs are a metaphor for our business What makes you a skilled speaker What your ideal identity is comprised of and the identity gap Are you suffering from the epidemic of shelf esteem? The dinnertime conversation you can have with your kids to cement a positive relationship with them The difference between parenting your kids and coaching them (plus how to get your kids to clean their room!) We’re back, coming at you from the world-famous Hustle & Flowchart Studios! Today we are talking about branding, our thoughts and our experience with it and what we are learning about branding lately including the psychology behind it. It’s been a big focus lately in that we are trying to get ourselves dialed in on our brand, uplevel the video quality, and revamping our website design. There’s some specific reasons why we feel now is the time to be branding and we dive into this on today’s episode.  We will be covering some low hanging fruit ways to brand that you probably haven’t thought about. There’s also a few cool videos that we will reference and one of more interesting ways that one major influencer is building his brand plus the surprising reasons behind it. We have also updated some of our studio equipment and will dive into what some of our favorite brands are and why. In addition to all of this, we chat about the bigger picture behind your brand, making an impact on society, and leaving a legacy. After you’ve listened, be sure to check out the past shows we’ve done with Ryan Lee and Ryan Berman to give you some additional ideas on branding and building your tribe. “It’s important to make sure you have the brand understood before you do any dramatic things to the perception of your brand. Ask yourself how are people identifying and attaching to you right now and what’s the reason they are choosing you over another podcast?” - Joe Fier “The way we see it is, the bigger the brand that we can build, the more attention that we can create on us, and then we can essentially sell that attention.” - Matt Wolfe Some Topics We Discussed Include: What the leading YouTube influencers are doing outside the normal realm of promotion Our top three favorite brands that have helped outfit our new studio Some new platforms we might be testing out with our branding Thanks again Ryan for the burrito hookup! Joe Sanok joins us again for a second show, with another fun conversation about chilling out, getting your mind in order, and having systems that have been a theme lately around the Hustle & Flowchart brand. A lot of conversations we have had recently are in tune with what we want to do with our brand, which translates into a smart and productive way to work. It is less about tactics and business strategies as what’s really important is figuring out what we want to do and having the business facilitate that.  On today’s show, we chat about how Joe was able to take more time off as we have done, spend more time on the important things in his business, outsource the things that are not as important, and basically slow time to get more clarity. He also tells us a great analogy with his tale of his encounter with a rhino, what to expect if you are doing a book deal with a major publisher and how hie Slow Down School has helped many entrepreneurs to do just that, while also moving their own business ideas ahead quickly. If the idea of traveling the country while working your business part-time appeals to you, be sure to check out our previous show with Joe as well as the chat we held with Justin Brooke.  “Research shows that when you slow down you have better clarity on what you need to spend your time on. So if you are taking a Wednesday off and the weekend off and you are generally setting boundaries and letting your brain be optimized, then when you get to the week, you can kill it.” - Joe Sanok   Some Topics We Discussed Include: The magical mindfulness of young minds Roadtripping across America, while road schooling kids and podcasting about the adventure The benefits of having two Fridays a week Scheduling in fun first Discovering your sprint personality to fine-tune your workflow Staying at an Airbnb for the weekend to get more work done  How we slow down in a way that matches what our brain needs What to do when you see a rhino charging right at you The science behind vigilant detriment One simple thing you can do to refresh your brain, pay attention better, and work more efficiently The trick to getting to 100 pushups a day What to expect when you publish a book with a big name publishing house Resources From Joe Sanok: The Practice of the Practice on Instagram Joe Sanok on LinkedIn Podcast Launch School Thursday is the New Friday - by Joe Sanok Practice of the Practice  Leave to Find podcast JoeSanok.com References and Links Mentioned: The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks Sam Harris’ Wake Up Meditation Are you ready to be EPIC with us?! We’re back with another Tuesday episode, where it’s just the two of us, deep-diving into a few topics that we have found interesting lately, talking about what’s going on in our business, and sharing stuff that we have tried out, love, and want to share with you! Today, we are chatting about a book that we both read and really enjoyed - The Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel. We definitely had some a-ha moments after going through the book, which entails discussions surrounding the plight of Americans’ inability to set money aside for emergencies, why looking into historical data is not always the best option for determining the future, and why we think it’s important to avoid the dreaded lifestyle creep in order to set yourself up for wealth. We also talk about Matt’s Amazon wish list (wait until you hear what he got for Christmas!), our takes on investing (this is definitely NOT financial advice), and our thoughts about cool cars, crypto, and being on top of buying the latest gadgets. If you enjoyed this show and want to learn more about how to make your dollar go further while getting into the correct money mindset, be sure to check out our shows with James Altucher and Wealth Without Wallstreet’s Russ Morgan and Joey Mure.  “Everyone has the ability to save, if you have the right psychology around how money works and the use of it as a vehicle to get what you want out of life.” - Joe Fier “Most people study history and look at it as an indicator of what to expect for the future, but we are literally in unchartered territory every day.” - Matt Wolfe Some Topics We Discussed Include: How most Americans can’t even come up with $400 for unexpected emergencies What’s the real reason you are driving that super cool sports car? Our show today with Elliot Roe, creator of an app called Primed Mind, was packed full of goodness. We chatted all about how he came to create the app after he was able to get over his fear of flying and he walked us through these pre-methods, to prime your mind for various circumstances. For example, if you have an athletic event coming up or you will be speaking on stage, it primes your mind for all these activities.  Elliot works with people who are in the top 5% but know there’s something holding them back to reach that 1%. These include top athletes, poker players, and Wall Street businessmen, who use his hypnotherapy services to get past that subconscious wall to break through to the next level. We also talk about how to get over imposter syndrome, uncovering hidden memories, and dealing with feelings of guilt, especially when it relates to running your business. Once you have listened, be sure to tune in to our previous shows with Erin Pheil and Rinesh Ganatra for additional insights on how to rock your productivity and erase those roadblocks that keep holding you back. “If there’s a big difference between what you would tell yourself and what you are doing, there’s something going on emotionally because you know the answer but you are not able to  follow that system.” - Elliot Roe Some Topics We Discussed Include: Digging into your past by using hypnotherapy to change your emotions  Common problems regarding feeling stuck at earning at a certain level and how it usually relates to your father How Elliot got over his fear of flying The interesting world of working with high-end poker players and athletes Getting over imposter syndrome How procrastination is one of the most common things Elliot’s client deal with and how to get around it Bullied as a kid? On today’s show, we are mixing things up a bit. We usually chat amongst just the two of us on Tuesdays, on this episode we decided to use an interview of someone interviewing us. This was an interview done by Stephan Spencer, host of Get Yourself Optimized and Marketing Speak, two great podcasts. We really enjoyed his line of questioning and he even stumped us on a few things. He’s a deep thinker and is well studied, and we know you will enjoy this episode.  You’ll hear us work out some stuff and come to some realizations, such as how we got to the root of what makes us curators. Stephan is great at extracting details and asked about numbers and KPI’s, but it’s interesting because over time our business has shifted from looking at the numbers and more about prioritizing the lifestyle and inner joy. We also talk about various things we have learned from books that we love as well as how we handle our business relationship, some lessons learned from our early days in business and our ideas for the future. After you have listened, check out our previous chat with Stephan that we mentioned, since he is an SEO wizard as well as our conversation with Gary Henderson who gave us his takeaways on connecting with amazing and influential folks as well. “Our goal, focus, and mind space is always on how to create better content, and we live in that world.” - Matt Wolfe “We have established ‘No Working Wednesdays’...and it’s allowed us to go 80/20, go deeper on the key actions that we should be taking and it has us really focused in.” - Joe Fier   Some Topics We Discussed Include: Why you should focus more on creating systems and less on creating goals One of our big a-ha moments that really took the pressure off Our partnership and the good parts and bad (which basically never happen) No Working Wednesdays! We’re back with another show, chatting with our friend and fellow podcaster Angelo Sisco from Alpha Hippie. One of the things we talk about is having stories around specific things, and how when you listen to others tell stories about the same thing, you can have a reframe and change your perception around this subject. Everything is a frequency, and Angelo has such a deep level of awareness which he trained himself into, and he walks a different plane than most people. You will have so many a-ha moments as you listen to Angelo explain how to reframe your mind and use both feminine and masculine energy to be successful in your business. Being a storyteller also has many benefits, and creating your own energetic energy in your life will put you in the right frame of mind. Angelo gives an overview of how he works with clients to create an identity alchemism shift, as well as the secret weapon he uses to change his frequency to match the situation he puts himself in. When you have finished, be sure to check out our previous chat with Angelo and our show with Marx Acosta-Rubio as we talk about how to get over those thoughts which are holding you back to create the mindset you need to move ahead. “So much of what holds our lives back is having those past thoughts and experiences and that’s why being able to give good stories and recreate stories in our minds creates new thought patterns, new neural pathways, and expands us, and then we can allow for shifts.” - Angelo Sisco   Some Topics We Discussed Include: How reading the Goosebumps stories as a kid, helped to build a career When telling a great story leads to analogies and insight You’ll never think about tobacco in the same way again after hearing what Angelo has to say The meaning behind the identity alchemist and how you can become your best version of yourself How to change your identity to become a wealthy person Where the best McDonald’s in the world is located!  Insights into feminine vs. masculine qualities Leading a life of bliss and serenity Angelo’s secret, favorite thing that helps him change his frequency How to train your mind to succeed in business We are reading more of your reviews, so tune in - maybe it’s yours   Resources From Angelo Sisco: Alphie Hippie Podcast Alpha Hippie   References and Links Mentioned: Angelo’s Soundcloud List Are you ready to be EPIC with us?! On today’s show, we are chatting with Archit Batlaw from Reach Digital. We like how he thinks through things, and how he talks about what it was like to work at Facebook. We also talk about his predictions and the consolidations as to how Facebook is getting into podcasting and how so many big companies are emulating what other big companies are doing. Archit talks about how, if you have followers, that’s way more powerful than figuring out some Facebook ad strategy. There’s the AI that’s available for everyone and it’s optimized already.  A lot of the things that people are specializing in right now such as copywriting and media buying are examples of things where AI is getting better and better at. This brings us to the main point in this episode which is how building a brand is everything. We also chat about the latest Apple update, some predictions about the future of the big media companies, and some thoughts on what Apple has in store next. Archit also gives us his thoughts on how he stays focused, how to put your tasks on an axis to determine how much time you may be wasting, and other ways to stay in alignment. In this episode, we want to talk about the direction of our show and how we’d like to chat with the entrepreneur that was us 15 years ago. We find that there’s a lot missing when we don’t have that perspective in mind, and maybe that’s you or you have a business and you want to go back to basics. We are talking about the handful of things that our younger selves would really appreciate hearing, such as our ideas on delegation, building our list, setting up systems, and how we put content out into the world. The overall theme is we want to identify different strategies that can help our younger selves and get past some hurdles and roadblocks even quicker. Another segment of today’s episode revolved around how we’ve been sending out emails, asking how we can help you and what are you struggling with in your business now. So if you have emailed us, listen up as we answer a few of the questions that we have received. When you’re done, go check out our conversations with Scott Carson and Stephen Esketzis for more ideas on how to set up systems and your content strategy to reach your audience more efficiently. “Speaking to our younger selves is creating a content machine that allows you to not only grow your brand by putting things out to the world and be able to share it but connecting with highly connected and successful people. You can engineer that yourself by creating your own platform. - Joe Fier “I’ve stopped thinking about being happy when and just enjoying what we are doing right now. I’ve shifted my thinking into ‘Let’s just make every day fun, and figure out how to make money off of that fun-ness that we’re having.’” - Matt Wolfe   Some Topics We Discussed Include: Before we knew what we were doing, drinking Corona and hanging out in the driveway The mindset shifts which we both have had in the business, and have led us to have more time on our hands Our platform way of thinking to connect with people and bring your message out to the world How to become a merchant of attention so people can buy attention from you The magic of leveraging a platform to build your own platform The Catch-22 of being concerned about sending too many emails to your list Wise words from the founder of Netflix How our content strategy has allowed us to connect with not only our audience but a slew of amazing entrepreneurs How we structure our free and paid content and why you should give away most of your information for free We are also answering your questions on today’s show. This was a super fun episode with Chris Parker where we covered a lot of things that we haven’t before. Chris is a unique marketer in that he has more traffic than he knows what to do with, and we love the fact that he's built this system to give back to the world. He’s the founder of WhatIsMyIPAddress.com, a tech-friendly website attracting a remarkable 9 million IP-seeking visits a month. We discuss the benefit of banner ads and using an aggregator, and the breakdown of how his site brings in revenue, plus the promotion of his in-house tools which you can find on his site.  Chris also talks about how he uses HARO to get interviews for his podcast, Easy Prey Podcast, and his recommendations on how to make your media page stand out to visitors, so perhaps even you will get on television as he did. Motivated by stories of cybercrime victims, in 2020 Chris created his podcast to help followers learn about scams, fraud, and other dangers they face online and in the real world. We’re back again with our Therapy Session-ish chat - or soon to be called some other new awesome name. We record them roughly the week before the show goes live, so the content we bring you is as fresh as the memory of the last dollar you made online. Lately we’ve been talking about dialing in all the stuff in our business and how we are aligning our actions with where we are headed in the next 10 years and beyond. We know that we all have things that we do routinely, such as checking emails and touching base with people, and when you have a good system behind it, it’ll make your day go so much smoother.  You’ll especially enjoy listening to Matt’s background with designing systems and how his brain works when it comes to fine-tuning the most simple of tasks with the use of some very simple tools. He talks about his three-step process and how he’s able to get to the coveted inbox zero on a daily basis. After you’ve got your mind spinning, be sure to listen to our chats with Paul Minors and David Jenyns who give us even more strategies and tactics to build systems in your life and business, so you can have more time, be more productive, and scale your business. “I do the stuff I least look forward to first so that all that’s left for the day is the stuff I do look forward to doing..” - Matt Wolfe “There’s the momentum of task completion too. The time really flew by on today’s episode with Ryan Berman of Courageous Brands, as we let Ryan’s stories interweave into the show. Ryan brings to the table a different perspective than most marketing people. We discuss his stair stepper approach to marketing and how everything is connected. We also talk about how he created an actual city location, in Funner, CA and the magic behind that marketing campaign.  One of the things that we love about this conversation is to start by stepping into the shoes of who you are selling to, which is something we intuitively know, but don’t always practice. Think of how you would want to be marketed to, which is one of the toughest things, but remember the customers are holding all the cards. Ryan also discusses how, if you have a boring brand, do something to change that fact, and create stories around the brand to make it exciting. Also, make sure you listen to the end, as we read some of our recent reviews - maybe it’s from you! And after you have enjoyed this episode, be sure to check out our conversations with Dan Norris and Ryan Lee, who have both created successful brands by offering value and fun in a different way that makes them stand out from the rest. “We’re living in this world now, where we are inundated with 7,000 messages a day. There’s so much competition right now and that’s why brand is so important.” - Ryan Berman   Some Topics We Discussed Include: Why “No feel, no deal” is so important to your business David Hasselhoff and the magic behind a “Funner” city The beauty of marketing today in telling your story Getting from strategy to ideas to execution How to flip common perspectives to bring your brand to new levels From ducks to geckos - what to do if you have a boring brand Beerfest vs. Craftfest? As promised, we are back with another show that’s just the two of us sharing what we’ve been learning lately and how it’s impacted our lives for the better - all while we are having more fun! We’ve been doing a lot of soul searching and have been upgrading our lives in different ways. We’re also still continuing to get insights and help from our friends and podcast guests, which is one of the main benefits of what we do. We also discuss our new schedules, our awesome new studio space, how we’ve been able to rid ourselves of several limiting beliefs and make the adjustment to hand off work which was hard to do at first, but has freed us up and in turn, made more money. Plus, we give our thoughts on a recent video we watched which dissects how to enjoy the journey as well as how to determine what’s meaningful in your business so you can spend less time on the things you think are important or necessary, but are really holding you back. After you’ve listened, don’t forget to check out the conversations we mentioned with Erin Pheil, Angelo Sisco, and Marx Acosta-Rubio on how to manage your life and workflow, for more balance and free time. “There is a lot of mental clarity and that allows us to almost naturally have more fun.” - Joe Fier “I go to my computer, Joe goes to his computer. I start working on things...we are sending files back and forth via Slack even though we’re next to each other, and the next thing we know it’s been 3 hours and we just built an entire funnel. Let’s go to lunch.” - Matt Wolfe   Some Topics We Discussed Include: How our new bachelor pad/podcast studio has made our life easier and more productive Are burritos or tacos the next productivity booster? And who has the best tacos country-wide? This is the third show where we discuss Empire Flippers, and today we are chatting with Justin Cooke, one of the founders. Justin talked about the Amazon affiliate sites that they sell a lot of, and a good way to learn which sites are selling is to visit their site and go through the listings. Keeping up to date on what’s selling in the marketplace is super valuable for all of us. We’re all building assets and there’s a way to enhance their value. We also talk about the hiring process, and if you check out their site under the careers tab, you’ll be able to see what we are talking about. He’s got a pretty solid hiring process that he mapped out. He discusses his sales funnel process of hiring, the benefits of hiring an apprentice, how to find potential hires if you don’t already have an audience to reach out to, and how to weed out the non-contenders early on. He also has an interesting take on the commission process and discusses how he’s made it more of a cooperative arrangement, which has worked out very well. After you listen and your mind is reeling from ideas, you’ll definitely want to check out our previous chats with Greg Elfrink and Matt Diggity, on how to best create a site for a future sale or to maintain it while making affiliate income.   “I don’t want to fail them..and if I fail them, I’m just going to be amplifying my own failure. But also, any entrepreneur that waits until they are ready to hire has waited way too long.” - Justin Cooke   Some Topics We Discussed Include: Pivoting after one of Google’s updates Record-breaking numbers on website sales How to hire an apprentice for your business and working through the ups and downs Breaking down the strategy session process A really smart way to get you noticed when applying for a position Getting over your fears about hiring Building commissions in a cooperative way so the whole team wins Using a cooperative approach for a commissions structure What to do when you are first starting out if building a site to sell Resources From Justin Cooke: Empire Flippers The Opportunity Podcast Empire Flippers Podcast Justin Cooke on Twitter @EmpireFlippers EF Capital   References and Links Mentioned: Flippa The Tropical MBA Gen M Creative Are you ready to be EPIC with us?! In this episode, we are talking about some of the ways we are approaching business and life that are making things quite nice and everything more fun and profitable. We also chat about how we’ve been able to structure our days in order to take advantage of the 80/20 rule, how we are focusing on the 3 main things in our business, how we’ve hired some amazing people lately to handle specific tasks so that we can focus on the things we do best as well as how our team is super dialed in now, which has really helped to propel our business forward. After you’ve listened, be sure to check out the shows we referenced with Geoff Woods and his take the 80/20 method of structuring your day and our show on Unapologetic Affiliate Marketing Strategies. “There’s a good mental clarity with us now. We’re back with another awesome show, chatting with Travis Chappell, host of Build Your Network Podcast and creator of Guestio. Travis is a guy that we could have easily chatted with for another hour and what came out of this show was way better than we anticipated. We discussed how to get the big name guests on your show, how to interact with them and encourage them to share the show afterward, how to network and build relationships with them, and how to create big events with past guests. He’s got a great philosophy when it comes to networking and while there’s a lot of things you can’t track such as the shoutouts from people you collaborate with, there’s also a lot of intangible benefits that happen down the road, such as investing, referrals, and advisory relationships. We love his idea of hosting dinners and bringing people together and we also love how he created his own reality for success as he used to live in a bubble growing up. Travis discussed his research methods and how he has put hours into it before the guest shows up, noting some key things to pick up on, so you can chat about the things which will make your guest light up. After you have enjoyed this show, check out the chats we referenced with Jordan Harbinger and Luis Diaz for even more ideas on how to network with the people you want in your circle and growth hack your podcast up the charts. “It was the first time in my life that I had actually taken a pay cut to do something different, but I just knew it was something I was meant to be doing.” - Travis Chappell   Some Topics We Discussed Include: Our recent thoughts on ClubHouse Starting from nothing with no contacts Giving your guests a reason to share the show with their audience Why having a podcast is like getting a free education How to navigate the conversation to get unique content out of your guests A unique follow up process for past gets that adds a boatload of value The new platform that makes it easy to connect with podcasts and filter out the podcasters who are less serious Examples of questions to ask your guests that stand out from the usual, boring topics How to get over the fear of reaching out to big-name guests   Resources From Travis Chappell: Guestio Build Your Network Podcast TravisChappell.com   References and Links Mentioned: PodHacker $2 MILLION in 12 Months, The Price of Mr. Beast's Success PodHacker.com/news Noah Kagan’s interview with Lewis Howes Don’t forget to subscribe and leave a review and if we read your review on the episode, we’ll send you a free shirt! We have the wonderful Victoria Song on the show today, and one of the big topics we discuss is how, through her coaching, she has talked to people who have made millions of dollars, yet feel empty inside, and how it definitely seems to be a common thing among the high achievers. Victoria warp speeded her own journey, coming from the V.C. world as a super achiever, and is now on a journey to do more and help people who have created hugely successful lives, but still feel unfulfilled. She delves into why we need to discover the things that really light us up and how to go about doing that in such a way where the path will eventually reveal itself.  She also talks about how to focus on your awareness and your emotions to make you feel less fragile so you can let go of trying to control life while staying calm in times of uncertainty. Victoria even walked us through some coaching on the show, where we talked about constricted energy patterns arising from past events, and how to use her framework to get past it. It’s all about consistency and we’ve integrated a lot of these techniques ourselves lately to realize our patterns and get into more of a state of flow where we are leaning more towards our focus on having fun with the business. After you have listened, you’ll want to check out our conversations with Angelo Sisco and John Assaraf to help you destroy those blocks that are stopping your progress. “Our subconscious lives in our body and in our nervous systems, and not just in our minds. The body remembers what the mind may forget.” - Victoria Song   Some Topics We Discussed Include: Delving into why people are unfulfilled after experiencing great success The amazing results from hiring a life coach Using unpleasant emotions as fuel for expansion What entrepreneurs should be doing during the start up phase and afterwards to prevent the dreaded feeling that something is missing Why you want to be more like bison How to get into more of a flow state and operate from a sense of play What to do when you get to that place where your nervous system has expanded Accessing the field of infinite possibilities How to create friction in your life so you can uplevel What to do when you don’t know your life’s purpose   Resources From Victoria Song: Victoria Song Bending Reality   References and Links Mentioned: Are you ready to be EPIC with us?! Our episode today with Erik Huberman of Hawke Media was a mini-class of 5-6 various topics all combined in one show. We talked about increasing lifetime value, about how venture funds work, equity deal lessons, the marketing we should be focused on, and building an agency, systems, and owning your audience. We share the vision with Erik, as there’s a lot of what we’ve done previously such as having an agency, and we like the fact that he’s not trying to create his own products, but is just staying in his lane. We also talked about owning your own audience and bringing them somewhere where you can follow up with them as well as the idea of aspirational content where the content is built so it’s inherently sharable as that’s the content that people want to be shown. The content is what goes viral, not the sales page. We talk about how he is building sweat equity and brought in someone to view what he was doing, as there are probably some better deal structures out there. Erik has all these companies and basically crafted something where he can be his best self, which creates funds, books, and his own platform through scaling people. After you have listened, be sure to check out our chats with Charles Byrd and Sergei & Vadim Revzin to get your mind reeling with the opportunities behind venture funding and expanding your network for lucrative deals.  “Figuring out your average sales cycle is critical so you can analyze everything else well.” - Erik Huberman   Some Topics We Discussed Include: How venture funds are the next level of curation Accessibility for great marketing for all From beanie babies to a BMX The #1 thing that most companies overlook in their marketing Why 9 women can’t make a baby in a month Why the consideration period is more important than you realize Dialing in your content with your product or services’ aspirational ideals   Resources From Erik Huberman: Hawke Media Ecommweek.la Hawke Capital References and Links Mentioned: PostScript  Fab Fit Fun  Beautycon  Rebelmail  TapCart Are you ready to be EPIC with us?! What’s up, Hustle & Flowchart community?! We’re back with another therapy session and moving forward we are not only upping the frequency of these shows but want to make it more focused. On today’s show, we are diving into one of our favorite topics, affiliate marketing. We’re talking about how, after listening to one of our most popular therapy sessions from last year, we revisited what we are doing in the business, applied the 80/20 rule to our actions, and are making the necessary adjustment moving forward to focus on what we really love doing best - the platform building and building the audiences, and once we’ve built the audiences, showing people how we did it and tools that we used to do it. We also talk about some recent changes we made to our PodHacker membership, our love for our new studio and how it’s helped us to better manage our time, as well as a super cool Key Step Tutorial strategy and how we used it recently, promoting one of our favorite new tools, Conversion.ai. This is a great strategy that is not overwhelming to put in place, really targets those in your audience that are interested in what you are promoting, and is something that anything can do in their business. As always, we’d love to hear your thoughts as we appreciate you coming along with us on our journey! Don’t forget to check out our previous episodes where we discuss our affiliate marketing strategies: The Tools We Use For Affiliate Marketing and Unapologetic Affiliate Marketing Strategies.  “It really was a point where we actually had an ideal business model right there, and we were very close to it, where we didn’t have to do much. But we let it almost grow in ways that we didn’t want that load on us.” - Joe Fier “We really enjoy the platform building and building the audiences, and once we’ve built the audiences, showing people how we did it and tools that we used to do it.” - Matt Wolfe   Some Topics We Discussed Include: Whose face should join us in our podcast studio? The realization after our 80/20 analysis Discussing and reviewing a conversation we’ve had previously Our super cool KST strategy which can be done in different modalities Getting our content calendar dialed in Going down the rabbit hole on YouTube One huge benefit of the podcast as an online journal A big change for PodHacker that really benefits our members The actions that are almost guaranteed to make the most money   Our Resources: Check out Aaron Fletcher’s KAD method  PodHacker Conversion.ai   References and Links Mentioned: Are you ready to be EPIC with us?!
