Why does David Medansky call himself the Overweight Person's Best Friend?  It all stems from his own experience of being overweight and being told that he had two choices.  Lose weight or he may die.  His doctor told him that if he didn't lose the weight, he would rather David find another doctor, as he didn't want him to die on his watch.David takes the same approach now when he is helping people with weight loss, specifically after they have reached their ideal weight.  "You will not gain weight under my watch".David doesn't believe in diets, he believes in changing your diet.  "Diet" has become a household name for fad eating habits that are often very limiting and they don't work.  The true meaning of diet is, as per Webster's Dictionationary, "food and drink regularly provided or consumed."  It does not necessarily refer to limiting food intake.  It is WHAT YOU EAT.David is the author of Break the Diet Chains of Dieting - A guide to achieving a healthy lifestyle.    In it you will find:The secrets of the diet industry – that diets are designed to fail. Stop wasting your money on FAD (Fat and Desperate) diets.Learn the 9 must-have easy and effective principles for healthy and maintainable weight loss. This educative and informative book will help you achieve your weight loss goal, have more energy, feel better, look better and improve your overall health. You can find his book on Amazon, ask your library to order to read it for free, or order it on his website BreakTheDietChains. This episode is filled with a lot of fun facts!More about David:Top-selling author and speaker, David Medansky struggled with his own weight issues until July 2016 when his doctor told him to either lose weight or find a new doctor. He understands your frustrations. During the next four months, David shed 50 pounds, almost 25 percent of his total body weight, and has kept it off. Now it’s his mission in life to teach you how to eat healthier so you too can have more energy, feel better, and improve your overall health without going on a diet.David has helped a countless number of people lose weight without dieting, exercising, or counting calories. The key to his success is using his 9 must-have fundamental principles for healthy eating habits. New Release Kindle or Signed Copy! A very compelling story about bulimia.  Tammy wants parents to recognize the signs.  Understandably even when you see "signs" parents can be stuck in a position of denial or fear or lack of understanding because it's scary to not understand. In the era that Tammy had bulimia, as with me, our parents didn't have the literature available to them that there is today. However, with that, today with Social Media there are a lot more reasons that this dis-ease is still one that is growing.  To this, it is still why even women in their 40s and 50s, and 60s are still struggling.Tammy's opening up about all her pain, and how she struggled with honesty is paramount.  Many women and men are afraid to share that story.  Tammy is a testimonial that the struggle is a means to a better life.  A journey that takes you to a better place as long as you reach out and find that support.Thank you, Tammy, for sharing your journey and how far you have come with a business that you are passionate about. You can find out more about Tammy and her new life at  www.AvivSpa.com and  www.AvivCBD.comMore About TammyHello, my name is Tammy Doering.  I’m your ‘Fight Aging Now!’™ Coach, dedicated to helping women eliminate toxic beauty products, get healthier, have more energy, build their self-confidence, sculpt their bodies and feel FABULOUS about their appearance at any age. I am the Founder & Cosmetic Chemist at AvivSPA™ Dead Sea Products and AvivCBD™. I met Cristian two years ago.  We mention one year, however looking back, it's been two.  When Forbes Riley started bringing us together.  At first I wanted Cristian Hauser on to speak to his transformation.  I am amazed at the story he did end up sharing.Beautiful.His sight from the outside looking at a bulimic is precious.  Many of us who have been and are bulimic don't hear these stories, and the few of us that do, sometimes they're not as kind and beautiful.I appreciate Cristian for sharing his story.  His honesty of "what do you do and how do you eat in front of a person you know is bulimic?' (paraphrasing).Cristian has an amazing story too, which was why I invited him.  Being an imposter to others.  Bulimia is about that.  Feeling like you don't belong.  Bulimics feel that quite often.  Alienated.  Hiding.  Scared to be YOU.  I did ask Cristian to share his new beginnings with his course.  It's important that we support each other as humans.  And accept the good, the bad, and the ugly.  And loving all of that bundle with all our heart. You can find out more about Cristian at 1800cristian.comTruly a wonderful young man and grateful I met him and that he is in my life.  Just added meeting him in person to my bucket list. :)New Release Kindle or Signed Copy! "Look at all the things we had to do happen to become who we are today".Karen's story is inspiring.  Karen lost her son Daniel in 2011 on the 12th of July.  It was a day that was supposed to be a lazy Sunday.  Yet, there he was, lying in a fetal position.Karen and her husband grieved differently.  Now, how does this relate to Bulimia?Karen changed her life.  Left the corporate life and helps people with loss, of which she explains there are over 40 types.   It could be the loss of a person and the loss of self.I brought up shame.  I know many of my clients and women and men who reach out to me bring this up.  This is where Karen brings up the vibration, and shame is at the bottom.  This is where she helps people increase the vibration, one step at a time.  She owns the Chaston Centre, and helps people heal and create their "everyday better day life".Losing identity is not easy.  And some of us with Bulimia, that is truly a part of it.  As well as shame.Karen went on to discuss this "shame" and "vibration", and did share about two people she knew who had bulimia.  One of them was a woman born in 1924.  I could relate and did not share, however, my Aunt had bulimia as well.  she was born in 1927.  Bulimia existed that long ago.  However we didn't have social media, or even back when there were magazines, this was never brought up.  It took Karen Carpenter dying, and then Jane Fonda coming out for us to realize this.  And sadly with Social Media, this is still a problem.I appreciate Karen for her story, sharing it, helping others overcome loss, even if it's finding yourself again, having lost yourself. To view this on YouTube go to Bleep Bulimia on YouTubeYou can reach Karen at www. thechastoncentre.com More about Karen:  Karen ran on the corporate treadmill until the day the world came tumbling down on her head. The constant effort of juggling work, family, the big house and cars, and the stress created by all that was taking its toll on her even before tragedy struck when her son Dan (27), suddenly and very unexpectedly died at her back door in July 2011.Straight after Dan’s funeral, Karen went straight back to her Chief Financial Officer’s role at a Publicly Listed Company, working more, drinking more, and eating more. Using all her coping mechanisms to just carry on and succeed at that level.Karen now knows that Dan’s passing was meant to be her wake-up call. So the Universe decided to show her that death comes in many ways ~ death of a loved one, a marriage, a job, a partnership, a pet, your health, and/or your wealth. Her second death came 15 months later in the form of redundancy when her company merged with another. This was the greatest GIFT.That is when she started on the Journey to Becoming Her Own Best Friend. From there they created the Gift of Loss programs which demonstrate the correlations between loss and people and profits for both individuals and companies. Her mottNew Release Kindle or Signed Copy! What a pleasure to have Mel Mason on this podcast.  To me, her message is important for many who are struggling to recover from bulimia. Her words speak volumes, and her story is compelling and also proves that even through adversity, you can move forward.  In her Freedom From Clutter's 5 Day Challenge which started today, and which I am attending, I loved it when she said to see life (and I am paraphrasing) as a GPS.  You don't use it to see where you were, you use it to know where you are now, and where you want to go.  I loved that.Mel shares about her five books (to become 13), The Mel Mason Show, and also about some of the adventures (and I say "some", because she has had many in the past year in particular that I have followed on Social Media).  Asked what inspires her to be so adventurous, she says "it's my birthright".  She feels that clutter is what stops us from living out our lives. To this, she clarifies that when she speaks to "clutter" she speaks to the internal clutter that can show itself in different ways, including addiction, bulimia, along with hoarding.Mel offers her book Freedom From Clutter to listeners by going to https://www.declutteringspaces.com/freedomfromclutter, and you will also then automatically be added to her list to invite you to the 5 Day Challenge, or you can email Mel at info@declutteringspaces.com. If you would rather have an autographed copy, you can go to her website https://www.declutteringspaces.com.The link for the Conference Mel has organized which she spoke about with $13,000 worth of value for $47, visit  www.daretothrive.netMore about Mel:Best-selling author Mel Mason is The Clutter Expert. As a sexual abuse survivor, she grew up depressed, suicidal, and surrounded by clutter. What she realized after coming back from the brink of despair and getting through her own chaos was that the outside is just a mirror of the inside. And if you only organize the outside without changing the inside, the clutter keeps coming back. That’s why you can clear a surface or organize your closet and in no time, it’s cluttered back up again. So, that set her on a mission to empower people around the world to get free from clutter and experience more happiness and more abundance in every area of their lives. Since then she’s used her own experience to create a step-by-step process designed to help you get free from clutter without feeling overwhelmed, that keeps the clutter from coming back called “The Seven Steps to Manage Overwhelm and Organize ANY Space” and she has written a new book, Freedom From Clutter: The Guaranteed, Foolproof, Step-by-Step Process to ReFreedom From Clutter FREE DOWNLOADABLE COPY by Mel MasonNew Release Kindle or Signed Copy! What insight on the mind Rachel shares about that "label on your back" and the need to rip it off.  She shares about her childhood and being "labeled" a "slow learner" due to being "different" in that she needed to read aloud.  This label had her spiraling until she took courses in NLP and from there, she learned the need to change the mindset from within.  Rachel shares that your brain takes in 90000 and apparently 80000 are negative thoughts or things we don't want to happen.  And it will only retain 5 to 9 of those things and discard the rest. From this to learning behaviors, NLP, and Time Line Therapy,  Rachel explained the techniques she uses to help her clients become empowered and growth - breaking their limiting beliefs.Along with Rachel sharing her own story, from graphic designer to coach, she also explains her reasons for choosing to become a Certified Domestic Violence Victims Advocate. Very intriguing podcast subject with Tom Paladino.  I had never heard of it before he reached out to me to share this with my listeners and how it may help with recovery..  Tom is researching scalar light and scalar energy. There were so many questions about this.  How does it work?  Tom explains this in regards to the connection with quantum physics and also how he came to work on further researching this through photographs.Along with explaining this, Tom and I also discussed the history of some cultures that believe if someone takes their photograph that they take a part of their soul.Tom is offering to listeners to try it.  I did ask if there was a subscription after the trial, and he said that although there is, his main goal is to have people try it.   The trial is FREE, so you have nothing to lose and only can gain from trying it.In fact, I have signed up!Tom is clear in stating he is not the one who controls this, but rather "God, a higher divinity".His Facebook page provides more information.  It reads:"I have developed a treatment process whereby I am able to administer the scalar energy reverse-phase angle harmonic of a pathogen, thereby causing that agent of infection to disassemble or fall apart. Scalar energy operates at the quantum level and is capable of disassembling all types of pathogens, thus eliminating the causative agent of disease. Once the causative agent of a pathogen disease has been eliminated, the symptoms associated with that infection decrease or disappear altogether. All scalar light sessions are exclusively administered upon photographs of people, animals, plants, and objects."To sign up for the free trial go to https://scalarlight.com/You can also find Tom on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/experiencescalar/ and on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/user/TomPaladinoScalarMore about Tom Paladino:Tom began research with Scalar Energy during his undergraduate years after developing a deep admiration for the father of Scalar Energy research or knowledge, Nikola Tesla. He was also able to study the work of a man Hieronymus who continued research on Scalar Energy. Hieronymus’ major contributions included unbinding the RNA/ DNA bonds of microbes plaguing the agricultural industry (rendering them harmless). The existence of such energy not found within the electromagnetic spectrum fascinated Tom. Inspired by these findings, he pursued a course of independent study seeking to better understand and subsequently harness Scalar Energy, through the development of an instrument called “Scalar Light”.New Release Kindle or Signed Copy! A subject few women want to talk about, and yet it is so important.  And if my listeners are still struggling through bulimia in their menopausal stages, this is a need-to-listen Podcast.I found Angela on Podmatch.com and she lives halfway around the world.  Why Angela?  Because she actually understood my purpose of having her on my Podcast after I explained the issues. It is a wonderful conversation that definitely went overtime, and with reason.  Most of my Podcasts are 30 minutes, however, this subject was important to me.  And Angela shared all the points I needed my listeners to hear.Reverse puberty and if someone is still trying to recover after 30 or more years, or just starting because of the fear of all of this "once again" life change, this is the message.  Don't be afraid.  And recovery IS possible even through these times.I have no doubt this Podcast will touch not only midlife bulimics but women around the world.Thank you Angela!!You can connect with Angela at https://angelacounsel.comAnd make sure to get her free offer!!More about Angela:Angela Counsel is a Leading Naturopath and Menopause Coach who guides women to embrace the changes that are happening to their body as they move through their menopause transition.  She is on a mission to spread the word that it is possible to thrive in menopause and this can be a time of stepping into your wisdom and falling in love with yourself and your life.As a qualified Naturopath and Kinesiologist with almost 20 years of experience supporting women through various stages of their life, Angela understands how hormones can impact the way in which a woman feels and looks.Angela ran her own successful natural therapies clinic in Sydney, The Ambaa Tree, for 10 years. Such a lovely conversation with Cassie.   Being someone who deals with women with midlife bulimia she was pleased to be on the show to be able to share her story and to say "you're not alone".Cassie, herself, struggled with emotional eating, as was her family.  Even though her education, she realized she was more able to help others than herself!   This I could relate to because my daughter said the same about her education through psychology.Cassie said there are four specific areas that matter when it comes to self-care and can free you from emotional eating.Cassie does share those four pillars of self-care, starting with hormones.  She speaks to our "toxic" vocabulary, and she does stress (pun intended) that stress is a part of hormone imbalance as is lack of sleep, and so many more points covered. You can find out more about Cassie at www.cassiechristopher.netMore about Cassie:I’m Cassie Christopher, a Registered Dietitian and Health Coach. As a Masters-trained Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who has helped hundreds of clients reach their health goals, I’ve got more than a soapbox to stand on.  Previously, I spent my time translating personal genetic and blood data, along with the latest scientific evidence to make my clients healthier. Combined with experience teaching college students and coaching patients with pre-diabetes, I specialize in sustainable behavior change. Everyone knows they should eat more vegetables and move more, yet few people can make those changes stick.I’ve scoured the evidence (good news is, it all boils down to being nicer to yourself!) and successfully help my clients reach their health dreams. You can join my support group on FB at https://www.facebook.com/groups/bullimiaddict Find me on Instagram @bullimiaddict and @bleepbulimia To sign up as a guest on my podcast visit https://www.bleepbulimia.com You can also visit us on FB at https://www.facebook.com/groups/bleepbulimiaFree Offer from Cassie Balance Hormones to Curb After Dinner OvereatingNew Release Kindle or Signed Copy! I am so honoured to have had this guest on my Podcast.  Rannveig explained that it was the first time she's gone public with her history of being a bulimic.  She is fully recovered, yet says she still holds shame about having been at one time a "bulimic".To me, her ability to speak so profoundly about it brought to mind my own feelings.  I was quite open, even when bulimic, particularly with my daughter to help her understand that it's not the place ever wants to be.   But for a while, there was a shame, or rather a fear of the perception of others if I told them I used to be.  And then that all went away.  It just did, and when that happened, it was when I really knew I wanted to move towards helping others. That portion of overcoming and being recovered and yet wondering if shame is still attached has nothing to do with asking whether you are fully recovered or not.   It is a part of that journey.   Some may never want to discuss it after full recovery.  As they say, leave the past behind.  I believe that.  However, I also believe that there is a need for awareness, for others to know they are NOT alone.  That is my route.  And from speaking to this beautiful lady, I have a feeling she's not too far behind me.  I look forward to having her back on to discuss her book which is coming out soon!  (fun quip about writers.  Some of us when we say soon, it may be a couple of years.  Other's it may be one month.  I am speaking about myself. :)  )My beautiful guest did not hold back on saying just that.  It was horrible.  I have to say that personally, I agree.  And to that same point, we also agreed on how freeing it is to be recovered. New Release Kindle or Signed Copy! Dr. Foojan Zeine shares a very interesting perspective on Bulimia and her story of how she came to create the Awareness Integration program. We discuss parental control, the difference between Anorexia and Bulimia, and some essentials on moving towards recovery. We talked about triggers.  Many bulimics feel they have food triggers, however, they are almost always associated with situational triggers.  Dr. Foojan said transitional stages are difficult and can cause triggers.  To this she was speaking about teenagers, however, I explained the same comes with menopause, which is again body and hormonal changes.Dr. Foojan also spoke to the shame and depression that can come along with both bulimia and fingers that do not purge.Very interesting conversation, that I truly appreciate. You can reach out to Dr. Foojan at https://www.foojan.com.  More about Dr. Foojan Zeine:Dr. Foojan Zeine is a Psychotherapist, Radio/podcast host, International Speaker, and author.  She has her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist practicing online and in her office in Southern California. This is just a short episode, where I share how blessed I am.  For years I did not want to help myself.  For the past 11 years, I have.  And now I am wanting to help others.  It was a "time out for self".  It's not that I refused to help others, however, I did learn during that time how to ask for help as well.  That is not a weakness. My life took a turn this month that I would never have anticipated.  And yet, it is a Godsend.  I have never been so happy and feeling love and appreciation as I have in the past two weeks.  I moved in with my parents, and I have the gift of enjoying them now every day.  And truly enjoying them as an adult child.  It does make a difference, and it is wonderful.  I can assist them, yes, however, I have the gift of also spending time with them, in this, our last quarter.  Together. Thanks for listening. For further support, you can visit my group on FB at https://www.facebook.com/groups/bullimiaddict Find me on Instagram @bullimiaddict and @bleepbulimia Blog https://www.bullimiaddict.com To sign up as a guest on my podcast visit https://www.bleepbulimia.com You can also visit us on FB at https://www.facebook.com/groups/bleepbulimia Click here to order my book How To Have Your Cake & Not Eat It All Too – A Guide To Adult Bulimia Recovery New Release Kindle or Signed Copy! What a great conversation with Coach Jonathan!  A longer episode, and one filled with compassion, empathy, and stories.Coach Jonathan, himself, overcame binge eating (although he didn't purge, there are many similarities with bingers and binge/purgers regarding their relationship with food)Coach Jonathan shares his F.A.S.T. model.  As he states, it's not related to denying yourself food.  It stands for Feel, Acknowledge, Speak and Time.He speaks to finding a better version of yourself through caring for yourself, and realizing that being "selfish" is not wrong, because the greater you love yourself and care for yourself, the more you can give to others.I really enjoyed the part where Coach Jonathan brings up overcoming the "victim mindset".  Truly important. For those who want to learn more about overcoming the cravings go to www.nofndiets.rocks/cruch-your-cravings for a free ebook.Other links to find Coach Jon:Website: www.freedomnutritioncoach.comFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/canadianomad/ YouTube: https://nofndiets.rocks/YouTube More about Coach Jonathan McLernon:Coach Jon  is a weight loss coach and emotional eating expert who has lost 100lbs.  From nanotechnology researcher, to Navy marine engineer, to globetrotting nomad, Coach Jon spent most of his life running from his true calling, until one question changed his life.  Now he's on a mission to help others lose weight for good and leave BS diets in the rearview mirror. With Freedom Nutrition Coaching he marries the Science of Metabolism with the Psychology of Behavior Change and the Compassion of Human Connection to create life-changing transformations with his clients.New Release Kindle or Signed Copy! The "emotions" part of this podcast really hit me, because Ann spoke to getting in touch with them.  This is a difficult thing often for those struggling with bulimia.  Their world revolves more around food than their emotions because they are eating them and purging them and not even realizing it!I truly appreciate Ann's story going through her journey, her sharing about her YouTube channel and her book A Pathway To Insight.  She does say there are many, why her book's title stipulates "a".You can find out more about Ann at https://www.annhince.com.  There is information there too on her book.  Ann can also be found on Facebook.More about Ann:"When I was 19, I woke one morning to find my mother dead face down in our bathroom. Twenty years later the tears from that trauma were still just under the surface. It took one 15 minute session with a strange technique to remove the charge from that event and be able to tell the story with no emotion. That one session set me on a journey to not only release the trauma from past memories, but to get beyond that, into the subconscious mind to release tension stored deep in my body, simply using the power of my awareness.Much of the time, society tells us, and therefore we tell ourselves, that we shouldn’t be feeling what we are feeling. I have found that seeking out our truth, what we truly feel, and accepting those feelings, is the key to inner peace.Once we change our inside, our outside changes. As within, so without."Ann has developed the ability to sense inside her body, and release physical tension stored in her connective tissue, using solely the focus of her mind.Ann wants us all to know that we have this incredible power within us, it just takes going further with practices that you may already be doing. As many of you may know, changing what is on our inside, changes what we see on the outside, so it is Ann's belief that we can not only change our personal world, but also our collective world.Ann has a YouTube channel where she shares her journey, explains the connection between the physical and the spiritual, and will be posting videos of how to change the pressing issues of our time. Her book, A Pathway to Insight, details her journey and breaks down the steps she took to attain what she called Insight, or the ability to see within the body. You can join my support group on FB at https://www.facebook.com/groups/bullimiaddictFind me on instagram @bullimiaddict and @bleepbulimiaYou can also visit us on FB at https://www.facebook.com/groups/bleepbulimiaA Pathway To Insight by Ann Hince on how to attain In-sight, or the ability to see withinNew Release Kindle or Signed Copy! Mss François is incredible.  Why?  Because is honest.  And her honesty comes from her self-confidence and self-love.Mss François did go through trauma, and how she dealt with it was creating comedy, and entertainment, and sharing her story that way.I asked her to come on to this Podcast because I believe that this is something those who struggle with bulimia can relate to.  Either trauma, or not feeling "good enough", and even more so not putting themselves first.  It's not selfish to do that.  In fact, it's important to do that.  When you give and give and give, you become depleted and you lose yourself.Mss François says that she is looking for a relationship and she says because she is so confident and can speak over anyone, she needs a strong man. LOLAnd be clear.  She is not a "Relationship Expert" about finding you one.  She is on how to let a bad one go. :)She also speaks to using time wisely!  Time is the one thing you can't get back in your life.If laughter is the best medicine, Mss François is truly one of my great medicines.  She just makes me laugh.  And to find someone like that is a gem.  Thank you dearly my friend!!Never lose yourself.  For those looking to end a relationship, Mss François has the answer in her book Let That @#$%&! Man Go - 5 Plus Steps To Getting Over A Breakup.  It's also a book/journal to work through.  You can find it at https://www.mssfrancois.com/product/let-that-man-go/And you can find out more about this beautiful dynamic woman at https://www.mssfrancois.com/More about Mss François:Mss Francois, MHRM, MBA, is a dynamic entertainer, speaker, producer, writer, author and game-changing trendsetter that aims to inspire. She migrated from Trinidad and Tobago in her late teens to establish a new legacy for her life. She’s the host of The Mss Francois Show—a talk show that encompasses candid conversations with a variety of entertainment and uses humor to help others with their dysfunctional relationships. The show was created out of the frustration and heartache over her failed romantic relationships. Many tune in to be engaged, empowered, and entertained, as it provides a well-needed distraction from the array of emotions that are experienced in different stages of a relationship. Her talk show can be seen in New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C., as well as Canada and 22 Caribbean countries. For further support you can visit my group on FB at https://www.facebook.com/groups/bullimiaddict Find me on Instagram @bullimiaddict and @bleepbulimia Blog https://www.bullimiaddict.com To sign up as a guest on my podcast visit httpsLet That @#$%&! If you are trying to recover, it truly is important to listen.  If you have to ask the same question 5 times, you are not listening, and there could be a couple of reasons.  You are not 100% ready to recover, or the person helping you, be it a psychiatrist, therapist or coach, is NOT the right fit.Find the right fit.  If you feel they are, then you need to focus and journal and make sure you listen.Listening is part of the recovery process. For further support you can visit my group on FB at https://www.facebook.com/groups/bullimiaddict Find me on Instagram @bullimiaddict and @bleepbulimia Blog https://www.bullimiaddict.com To sign up as a guest on my podcast visit https://www.bleepbulimia.com You can also visit us on FB at https://www.facebook.com/groups/bleepbulimia  New Release Kindle or Signed Copy! Fun fact.  I had the "help" wrong.  It was "serve other people at all times".  However, same goes.  It is very important to serve yourself to be able to serve others. And too, when you are serving everyone else you do lose yourself.Too food is not your all.  When you are bulimic, you focus all on the food. You don't care anymore what your body is telling you!  When you recover you become so aware of your body and NOT to let it retaliate. And then the bricks.  When you are speaking to someone who has managed to let you pull one brick off your wall, don't put it back up.  They are trying to bring you one brick off at a time to be able to take down that wall and set you free.#bulimia #bulimiarecovery #bulimiaover40 #midlifebulimia #bulimiaover50 #eatingdisorder #eatingdisorders #bullimiaddict #iamthatgal #bulimiacoach #bingepurge #bingeingandpurging #throwup #deceit #hide #lie #food #overeating #bleepbulimia #podcast #itunes #apple #buzzsprout #amazonmusic #alexa New Release Kindle or Signed Copy! Absolutely the best way to start a day.  Emma Stroud, a comedy performer, speaker, MC, speaker mentor, coach and clown.Clown?  I asked her about this and she so eloquently described the meaning of a clown.Brought me back to the days when I tried to be a class clown and ended up with detentions.  So I stopped.  I will say I really enjoyed it though.Emma didn't stop.  She has made a career of making people laugh, think and play.We so often forget to play.  It's my favorite thing to do, and I have been thought of as weird as an adult who doesn't want to adult all the time.I believe we all have a child in us that still wants to play, and I love that Emma reflects my beliefs.Does it take away the adulting, the pains we go through in life?  No.  However, humor makes things better.Thank you, in the your endearing name "Em", as you referred yourself to, for agreeing to be a guest.   Truly a beautiful message to my listeners. And make sure you get her book!  Coming September 26th!!  Lesson From A Clown -  How to have courage to show up for yourself and laugh everyday. What a beautiful lady.  I loved that Karina opened up about her own struggles with limiting beliefs, her admission of moving from a "party world" to holistic, and I believe one of the biggest take away was her speaking to sometimes we feel ill, and it being the body manifesting a "purging" of emotions naturally.  However, in the bulimia world, this is not to be mistaken for choosing over the body manifesting. Why is that?  Although we discussed it briefly, I believe there is more to this. What really fascinated me was at the end of our conversation Karina spoke to healing through stretching.  I believe this to be true!If you want to learn more about this please connect with Karina.  You can reach her at https://linktr.ee/kari.life.artMore about Karina:My name is Karina. Carenda is spirited and energetic.  She truly shines when she speaks about her passion for helping others to become accountable.  What intrigued me to have her as a guest what when I read her profile and saw these words: "I stopped pointing the finger outward and instead inward in order to confront my own imperfections, lack of self-love and trust."So many bulimics struggle with this, and I felt it was important to bring an expert on to discuss the benefits of confronting our imperfections, and stop blaming others.  It's not about blaming ourselves either.  It's about awareness. While listening to this episode you will hear Carenda's beautiful story of when she met Les Brown, and the life changing moment.I truly enjoyed having this time with Carenda, and was quite amused by the name of her 3rd book "Perfect Patty Messed Up Devotional".  I did have to ask why she called it that.  Here too you will hear that story. To learn more about Carenda's coaching and programs, how to buy her books, and even just reach out to her visit https://www.carendadeonne.com/More about Carenda:Your #1 Change AgentA vibrant, pulsating and charismatic motivational speaker, spiritual mentor, mediator, and marketing consultant. Betrayal.  There are many people who have experienced this.  What many of us don't know is that there are stages we go through.I remember having the link to Dr. Debi Silber's TEDx talk in January of 2019 sent to me from a friend who knew what I had experienced.  It was life changing.  Although I was near the end of my stages, it transformed my thoughts to help me get to the end stage.  A year and a half later here I am interviewing this amazing lady!  Dr. Debi explains the 5 proven predictable stages of post betrayal and speaks to being stuck in the 3rd stage. How does this relate to bulimia?  It was my being stuck.  And I was stuck for 30 of my 30 years of my struggle with bulimia in that world of betrayal. And we also spoke to forgiveness... a very big part of the betrayal.  And the being safe and valued before forgiving.  Forgiveness has to come when you are truly ready.Dr. Debi has a short quiz on her website which will give you an indication of your stage in the post betrayal transformation.  You can find this at www.pbtinstitute.com.    You can also listen to her Podcast Teh PBT Institute at https://thepbtinstitute.com/podcast/Watch her Recent TEDx Talks! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iyqOR69dHiU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XX30i6nC7ro More about Dr. Debi Sibler:Dr. Debi Silber is the founder of the Post Betrayal Transformation Institute and is a holistic psychologist, a health, mindset and personal development expert, the author of the #1 bestselling book: The Unshakable Woman: 4 Steps to Rebuilding Your Body, Mind and Life After a Life Crisis and her newest book: Trust Again: Overcoming Betrayal and Regaining Health, Confidence and Happiness. Her recent PhD study on how we experience betrayal made 3 groundbreaking discoveries that changes how long it takes to heal. In addition to being on FOX, CBS, The Dr. Oz Show, TEDx (twice) and more, she’s an award winning speaker, coach and author dedicated to helping people move past their betrayals as well as any other blocks preventing them from the health, work, relationships, confidence and happiness they want most. For further support for bulimia you can visit my group on FB at https://www.facebook.com/groups/bullimiaddict Find me on Instagram @bullimiaddict and @bleepbulimia Blog https://www.bullimiaddict.com To sign up as a guest on my podcast visit https://www.bleepbulimia.com You can also visit us on FB at https://www.facebook.com/groups/bleepbulimia New Release Kindle or Signed Copy! It's pretty simple.  You can't find a solution to your teeth being hurt by stomach acid, or having esophagitis due to bulimia, or, or, or.  When I was bulimic I would have loved to find those things that could stop my rapid heart beating, my snow blind, my teeth rotting, my grinding.  Truth is?  Recovery is the only solution.  And the sooner you recover, then you will then circumvent the tooth decay, the not bringing on the consequences of bulimia. It's simple.  The only solution.  Recover.  It's difficult too, because recovery is not simple. For further support you can visit my group on FB at https://www.facebook.com/groups/bullimiaddictFind me on Instagram @bullimiaddict and @bleepbulimiaBlog https://www.bullimiaddict.comTo sign up as a guest on my podcast visit https://www.bleepbulimia.comYou can also visit us on FB at https://www.facebook.com/groups/bleepbulimia To join my recovery program go to https://bit.ly/39R6s7n#bulimia #bulimiarecovery #bulimiaover40 #midlifebulimia #bulimiaover50 #eatingdisorder #eatingdisorders #bullimiaddict #iamthatgal #bulimiacoach #bingepurge #bingeingandpurging #throwup #deceit #hide #lie #food #overeating #bleepbulimia #podcast #itunes #apple #buzzsprout #amazonmusic #alexaNew Release Kindle or Signed Copy! What a pleasure to meet Cristina Castagnini.  I was really taken by the story she shares about starting off not wanting to bring "her own stuff" into the room.  She has a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy.During her experience of asking questions as a Marriage and Family Therapist, there was a lot that she could relate to with the answers about body image from her clients. With this, she realized people needed to find someone they can trust who has experienced the same feelings, and experiences.  To that, Cristina became a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist and she says she loves it.Cristina is a special person helping to spread the word and awareness about eating disorders and the "consuming nature of it all".You can also listen to her Podcast "Behind The Bite" and reach out to her at https://behindthebitepodcast.com and at  https://www.freedomtowellness.com.More about Crisitina:A real doctor who really recovered from an eating disorder gives the personal and professional perspectives about struggles with food, weight and body image.  Visit https://behindthebitepodcast.com/course/.  This is a direct link to my free 9 week email course to help anyone who wants to start healing their relationship with food and their body.  #bulimia #bulimiarecovery #bulimiaover40 #midlifebulimia #bulimiaover50 #eatingdisorder #eatingdisorders #bullimiaddict #iamthatgal #bulimiacoach #bingepurge #bingeingandpurging #throwup #deceit #hide #lie #food #overeating #bleepbulimia #podcast #itunes #apple #buzzsprout #amazonmusic #alexa #cristinacastagnini #behindthebiteNew Release Kindle or Signed Copy! I'm not going to lie.  I had great teeth.  My bulimia killed them.  We don't really understand the consequences of the amount of acid that is in our stomach when we binge and purge.Oh wait a minute!  "But I am purging within a short time so the stomach acid shouldn't be a problem!"  Sorry, yes it is.  It will completely destroy the enamel.  It WILL do that.  Stomach acid happens fast.  And if you have friends and family who go to the dentist and get whitening?  You can't without your enamel.  You can, however, spend way more money one crowns.  My teeth are not perfect.  My daughter asked me why I didn't just get dentures.  In a weird way, I am proud of my teeth that still stood by me.  And I don't want to wake up in the morning without them.  My teeth to me are like family.  Some here may think I am weird.  Some may understand.  The two teeth I had to say goodbye to in the back, I cried.  They were a part of me for 50 years.  I killed them from bulimia.  I did that.    My choice.  My life choice.I am dealing with this, and I AM going to keep all the teeth that went through this with me.  I don't need to look perfect!  I thank my parents for helping me with my front teeth, and my dentist for loving me and helping me keep working on keeping my original teeth, even if by crowning them.  I want original.  I am sad I failed my teeth, and my skin by abusing my privilege of not hurting myself.  However, I embrace my wrinkles, my aging look, and all that came with my life.  I only wish and hope though that I can help others either deal with these consequences too, however even more so, to learn to love themselves no matter even if this happened to them.BE ALIVE!! That's the saying I have now.  I quit.  Bulimia stopped being my best friend, thank God.  In hindsight... she was my Cruella.  More to come on that. :) New Release Kindle or Signed Copy! What a lovely conversation with Keith Blakemore-Noble, who I invited to this podcast because I was intrigued with his being the UK's #1 Fear Strategist Coach. There is a fear with bulimics when it comes to letting go of bulimia for several reasons.  The main one we hear about is weight gain.  As I said in the podcast, however, bulimia is like the blanket Linus in the Peanuts carries with him.  It is a "security blanket" of sorts.I liked when Keith spoke to the change in the landscape.  Facing that new landscape can be fearful and intimidating, however if you find the trigger for the bulimia, it can be quite beautiful.I hope you enjoy listening to this episode on fear. You can reach Keith at https://keithblakemorenoble.com to access more information and learn more about his books.More about Keith Blakemore-Noble:Award-winning international speaker. He became certified at train-the-trainer level, and used these skills first to conquer his own fears and then to help others.Whether it’s conquering fears and phobias, embracing change, reclaiming confidence, or busting habits (like smoking or bad eating), for the past 11 years he has used his skills and experience to help thousands of people across the planet to transform their lives. For further support you can visit my group on FB at https://www.facebook.com/groups/bullimiaddict Find me on Instagram @bullimiaddict and @bleepbulimia Blog https://www.bullimiaddict.com To sign up as a guest on my podcast visit https://www.bleepbulimia.com You can also visit us on FB at https://www.facebook.com/groups/bleepbulimia Click here to order my book How To Have Your Cake & Not Eat It All Too – A Guide To Adult Bulimia Recovery#bulimia #bulimiarecovery #bulimiaover40 #midlifebulimia #bulimiaover50 #eatingdisorder #eatingdisorders #bullimiaddict #iamthatgal #bulimiacoach #bingepurge #bingeingandpurging #throwup #deceit #hide #lie #food #overeating #bleepbulimia #podcast #itunes #apple #buzzsprout #amazonmusic #alexa #keithblakemorenoble #fear #coachNew Release Kindle or Signed Copy! What a truly insightful conversation with Dr. Christian Heim.  It was fun to talk about music and about bulimia.Dr. Heim truly answers the question in such an elightening way about relapse, and how hobbies define you and can be a catalyst to moving from bulimia to a healthy identity connection. What is apparent is that Dr. Heim helps the listeners understand how bulimia is NOT shameful, that it is, as other of my guests have explained, a part of coping.  Having said that, there is a way out and full recovery is possible.Listen to the wise words he shares as a consultant spychiatrist, psychotherapist who has had experience dealing with eating disorders... and his many kind and fun words...You can reach Dr. Heim at https://www.drchristianheim.comMore about Dr. Christian Heim:Dr. Heim PhD is an award-winning Psychiatrist, Music Professor and Churchill fellow.  Emma-Jane began with sharing about her childhood, her time with her family, the happy moments, followed by being sexually abused and the ultimate alienationation of her father.  These experiences were devastating for Emma-Jane.  Over time she became rebellious, and "monster", as she says, who hated life, hated people and hated making decision (on a personal level). Those around Emma-Jane eventually felt that she would either be dead or in jail by the age of 20.Emma-Jane had developed bulimia in her teens.  During this time she also had a family friend sexually abuse her on several occasions.  She went into therapy at the age of 23 and states it took almost 30 years to bring her to the point of loving herself. She remembers telling her therapist later in life about her bulimia and she was mortified to do this, however she knew that it was a part of her life, and she wanted to make sure that the triggers that could be overwhelming could be controlled.  The therapist gave Emma-Jane simple tools to settle her mind, and with the support has come through it. We spoke to the biggest challenges - of not being able to sleep at night,  to her finding a way back to loving with a trust, and what forgiveness means to Emma-Jane.Emma-Jane is a Child Abuse activist and her second book is out this year, along with a global project.Emma-Jane published book is called Don't Hold Back, based on her story;  where she was, where she ended up and where she is going, and helps others to help get through difficult times.  You can reach Emma at https://www.emmajanelife.com where all the links to her articles, videos and social media links are posted.  You can ask her any questions, and she will respond. #bulimia #bulimiarecovery #bulimiaover40 #midlifebulimia #bulimiaover50 #eatingdisorder #eatingdisorders #bullimiaddict #iamthatgal #bulimiacoach #bingepurge #bingeingandpurging #throwup #deceit #hide #lie #food #overeating #bleepbulimia #podcast #itunes #apple #buzzsprout #amazonmusic #alexa #emmajanetaylor #dontholdback #keynotespeaker #author #childabuseFor further support you can visit my group on FB at https://www.facebook.com/groups/bullimiaddict Find me on Instagram @bullimiaddict and @bleepbulimia Blog https://www.bullimiaddict.com To sign up as a guest on my podcast visit https://www.bleepbulimia.com You can also visit us on FB at https://www.facebook.com/groups/bleepbulimia New Release Kindle or Signed Copy! Alexis shares her experience going through anorexia and her journey towards recovery.Alexis experienced depression at a young age in grade 7, and says at the time she wasn't sure what it was.  She had always been very involved in sports and music.   A year later she felt better, and in grade 9 decided to pursue a healthier regiment with better eating and exercising.  She said it may have even started a year before when she was tracking everything with her Fitbit.  In trying to fit all the goals that the technology set for her, it began to be a decline mentally and physically. Her parents were suspicious and eventually it was revealed that Alexis had an eating disorder, something that Alexis herself had started to realize. She spent time in the Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.  She was there 6 days and had a feeding tube, which followed her home and remained with it for four months.Alexis says she was not rebellious, however she did have resistence against her meal plan, and for some time she didn't want to recover. Her message to listeners is recovery is possible and "so worth it".She is a psychology undergrad and will be applying with clinical mental health programs with plans on opening her own practice specializing in eating disorder recovery. We spoke to parents and how the communication transpired that led to her hospitilization, to Alexis explaining the healing of her body was important before she could heal her mind, and her experience with her therapist.Alexis has her own podcast that covers many aspects of mental health called The Every Ounce Podcast, and she can be found on Instagram where she has resources for people going through recover for all ages @everyounce.ofstrength.#bulimia #bulimiarecovery #bulimiaover40 #midlifebulimia #bulimiaover50 #eatingdisorder #eatingdisorders #bullimiaddict #iamthatgal #bulimiacoach #bingepurge #bingeingandpurging #throwup #deceit #hide #lie #food #overeating #bleepbulimia #podcast #itunes #apple #buzzsprout #amazonmusic #alexa #alexissmith #everyounceofstrength #theeveryouncepodcast For further support you can visit my group on FB at https://www.facebook.com/groups/bullimiaddict Find me on Instagram @bullimiaddict and @bleepbulimia Blog https://www.bullimiaddict.com To sign up as a guest on my podcast visit https://www.bleepbulimia.com You can also visit us on FB at https://www.facebook.com/groups/bleepbulimia New Release Kindle or Signed Copy! What a pleasure to have Marcella as a guest.  It all started for Marcella with her own experience with anorexia as a teen.  Upon reading articles on women of colour, she felt that they resonated, and felt "seen and validated" through them. This compelled her to move forward after her recovery to help others.  She is very active in many organizations.   She is on the About-Face Board of Founders and a consultant. She is also on the Advisory Board for the Association of Size Health and Diversity (ASDAH), on the Advisory Board of Eating Disorder Recovery Support (EDRS) as Past President. and serves as Co-Chair of the Academy of Eating Disorders Diversity Equity and Inclusion committee. As her work as a psychologist, when people tell her how hard it is for them to recover, she asks what is important to them.  They often explain they want to be connected to themselves, others and a life where they want to enjoy food, and enjoy food to others.  She encourages them to hold on to those values. We touch on Marcella's experience with martial arts and how it relates to her post-recovery.  Marcella trains in Kajukenbo at Hand to Hand Kajukenbo Self Defense Center in Oakland. She holds a second degree black belt and enjoys the exploratory path her training gives her. Her recovery and her martial arts training inspire her dedication to multicultural body nurturance and community celebration.Listen as we speak to diversity, isolation, recovery, relapse, a very sweet story about Finding Nemo, and so much more. For more information about Marcella's trainings, go to marcellaedtraining.com.  There you can also find resources on eating disorders.#bulimia #bulimiarecovery #bulimiaover40 #midlifebulimia #bulimiaover50 #eatingdisorder #eatingdisorders #bullimiaddict #iamthatgal #bulimiacoach #bingepurge #bingeingandpurging #throwup #deceit #hide #lie #food #overeating #bleepbulimia #podcast #itunes #apple #buzzsprout #amazonmusic #alexa #marcellaraimondo #marcellaedtrainingFor further support you can visit my group on FB at https://www.facebook.com/groups/bullimiaddict Find me on Instagram @bullimiaddict and @bleepbulimia Blog https://www.bullimiaddict.comTo sign up as a guest on my podcast visit https://www.bleepbulimia.com You can also visit us on FB at https://www.facebook.com/groups/bleepbulimia New Release Kindle or Signed Copy! I was so pleased to have a male reach out to me to be on my Podcast!  Dai Manuel shares with me several experiences in his life, including his time when he was morbidly obese, when he used alcohol as a crutch and his decision to leave his 17 year position in a business he was co-founder to start brand new.Listen to his metaphor about dark corners in the house,  So many of us live our lives even in a state of tolerance, even if they create pain and sadness.  We live in "auto-pilot".  It is when we recognize and acknowledge habits that do not help the situation, the next step is to decide to take action to "stop doing that and start doing this".Enough is enough.A poignant part of this interview was when Dai spoke to his "ritual" when he was obese and taking a shower, and the one day he didn't have time for the ritual, and suddenly the mirror spoke to him, in so many terms.  Too was when Dai shared that what he feared more than staying where he was at that time was a future of himself staying the same.I loved when he said "I was doing, I was being.... I helped the change along, I was the one who was creating the change.  Up to that point I thought I was just the victim of change... it wasn't my fault... "  That was his first encounter with change. There is always a way around, however we stay in our safe spot.   We often think  "by stopping (what we are doing that doesn't serve us), all the things I worked so hard to get rid of I will be welcoming back in my life."  It's not necessarily true, unless we believe it is true.  Listen to find out about Dai's new start....You can reach Dai at www.daimanuel.com, and @daimanuel on instagram or simply search Dai Manuel on Facebook and LinkedIn.#bulimia #bulimiarecovery #bulimiaover40 #midlifebulimia #bullimiaddict #iamthatgal #bulimiacoach #bingepurge #bingeingandpurging #throwup #deceit #hide #lie #food #overeating #bleepbulimia #podcast #itunes #apple #buzzsprout #amazonmusic #alexa #daimanuel #tedx For support group you can visit FB at https://www.facebook.com/groups/bullimiaddict.  Find me on instagram @bullimiaddict and @bleepbulimia 10 year blog is at https://www.bullimiaddict.com, Adult Bulimia Recovery Book order at https://www.howtohavecake.com Podcast group https://www.facebook.com/groups/bleepbulimiaNew Release Kindle or Signed Copy! A great conversation with Sherry, and how we shared our feelings about bulimia.  We discussed that although weight was involved, it was more of an emotional release.  There is a form of shame associated with bulimia as well, as we discussed in other podcasts.  Beyond the bulimia it's compounded with emotions.   Sherry shared that since she was a child she struggled with anxiety and internalizing her emotions, and this along with the "not good enough" feeling is fairly common .We reflected, now looking back, on how we are sorry that we put our parents through this, knowing it is difficult for the parents.   For the bulimic it is difficult to know, quite often, that they are disappointing their parents.Sherry shares that she had to become happy, and that was what she was working towards, and when she started to feel that happiness, the bulimia took care of itself. It's a hard road to find self-love and esteem for some, yet it is such a wonderful place to be when you do arrive there.Sherry finished off with saying, although shementioned that she wished she could go back to fix it, in truth she doesn't because it made her more empathetic and able to relate to those struggles.  You can learn more about Sherry at www.prosperusgroup.com.  She states that working with Administrative Professionals is so important to her to be able to coach them and help them to understand their person in order to flourish as a professional.   You can reach out to her personally at sherry@prosperusgroup.com.#bulimia #bulimiarecovery #bulimiaover40 #midlifebulimia #bulimiaover50 #eatingdisorder #eatingdisorders #bullimiaddict #iamthatgal #bulimiacoach #bingepurge #bingeingandpurging #throwup #deceit #hide #lie #food #overeating #bleepbulimia #podcast #itunes #apple #buzzsprout #amazonmusic #alexa #sherrytholenaer #prosperusgroup BE A GUEST/FIND A GUEST Start for Free! What is depersonalization, and what is derealization?  Cindy shares the difference and we spoke to the fact that they are a numbing process, much like bulimia becomes. It was such a lovely conversation speaking to the tribal theory, of how it is to feel one doesn't belong.Cindy spoke to addiction, and does share some books that can help with overcoming addiction.  Much like most addictions, they are used to numb. It's a wonder why there are so many people who struggle with addictions, with means to numb.  We also discussed the many times you hear about people not feeling "good enough" these days.Cindy is presently writing a book to be released soon, and she offers workshops and one on one coaching.  You can contact her at www.beyondwellliving.com.  You can access her Habits For Thrive program there or you can reach her directly at cindymarshallhealthcoach@gmail.comMany have been known to "numb" themselves.  We chat about that and the feeling of "not belonging".  It's interesting that our business world adopted the "tribal" as a description of culture within an orgnization, yet the familial and friendship circle tribes are not as easy to define, nor to be comfortable with.Has our human evolvement, particularly from the 60's on, created a disassociation, disconnect and is it increasing or will the coming generations realize the value of this belonging? Not everything we spoke about, however interesting afterthoughts...#bulimia #bulimiarecovery #bulimiaover40 #midlifebulimia #bulimiaover50 #eatingdisorder #eatingdisorders #bullimiaddict #iamthatgal #bulimiacoach #bingepurge #bingeingandpurging #throwup #deceit #hide #lie #food #overeating #bleepbulimia #podcast #itunes #apple #buzzsprout #amazonmusic #alexa #beyondwellliving #cindymarshall BE A GUEST/FIND A GUEST Start for Free! Sarah explains that her eating disorder behaviors started very young, around the age of 10.  She started restricting food at that time, however did not engage in bulimia until she was 18.Sarah feels that being in a larger body size, even if it is not an overweight body, there is shame that comes from being picked on and bullied about it, which leads to not being able to deal with the shame in a healthy way. With a lot of long distance runners being "lanky and thin", Sarah was trying to make her body into something it wasn't, trying to look more like others she felt were faster due to their smaller size. After her injury, Sarah explained the loss of muscle and weight contributed further to the bulimia.Sarah shares that her bulimia recovery started when she realized she needed help after opening up a box of diet pills, and weight reduction products she had ordered.  She went for help and admits that she was scared, yet she knew she needed the support. Sarah did say that some athletes have given up their sport altogether due to an eating disorder, and it was important for her to recover to continue with hers, as her running was part of what defined her identity.  She runs trail races now and so she says "it doesn't behoove" her to be more muscular.  She has come to learn how important food is, and the positive effects it has on the body and mind. Sarah's blog started about her bulimia, however she has expanded it to other stories now, including posts on mental health.  We are both in agreement that bulimia can be fully overcome and we don't need to be victims to it.Sarah's blog can be found at www.theprosiest.com.  Sarah's book on poetry, I Like It Because It's Pink, can be purchased on Amazon.  Sarah is also working on her new book to be released soon.  You can also find Sarah on Instagram @mcmountain.#bulimia #bulimiarecovery #bulimiaover40 #midlifebulimia #bulimiaover50 #eatingdisorder #eatingdisorders #bullimiaddict #iamthatgal #bulimiacoach #bingepurge #bingeingandpurging #throwup #deceit #hide #lie #food #overeating #bleepbulimia #podcast #itunes #apple #buzzsprout #amazonmusic #alexa #sarahmcmahon #theprosiestblog #ilikeitbecauseitspinkBuzzsprout - Let's get your podcast launched! I have long since had a trigger, and when I was bulimic it really was one that triggered my episodes.  Anger, frustration, feeling not good enough because I was a woman, feeling that if I made a mistake in front of a guy, I wasn't good enough.  I remember reading about "penis envy" and I really didn't feel that way.  I liked being a woman, however I wanted to be able to comfortably be with men.  The macho guys didn't inspire me, the narcissists made me feel inadquate, and at the time I didn't realize that they were hiding behind their own insecurities.  It seemed to me that men put down women for their own power and feeling in control.  That control made me feel out of control.  I let them get to me.  I would watch some of my female counterparts be able to navigate that realm of balance.  I wanted that.  However I wanted it so much that I would put myself down because I was always putting myself under the wrong light.  What I wanted I finally got, and when I did, I wasn't even aware of it because I was still looking outside to the rest of the world.  I had that relationship that was just right at a not right time of my life.  I couldn't see.  I was so overwhelmed with a 15 year marriage break up, a struggle to try to prove myself to everyone, that I didn't see everything beside me.Bro and Sister codes separate humanity in all aspects of the word.  Any singled out code of some form does.  There is only one code book.  I know that now, and I live by it instead of trying to be accepted in the ones that clearly define different worlds.  We all live in ONE world.  Although it can trigger me at times to this day, it is not as strong of a trigger and I am learning that it's best to look at those who need their specific circle codes to be ones who need to belong in one particular group.  I realized I personally belong in a vaster world.  And one where I have to be accepting of those who are in a smaller one.  This is not a negative.  This is an observation.  Someone once said "you are the only one that has the finger on your trigger.  It's up to you if you are going to pull it or not".  I look back on that and I know this is truth.  When a feeling or circumstance makes me feel like it is a trigger I go back to that and it's my choice.  Meditate, relax, and understand - it's a choice.  Let them be, and you be you.#bulimia #bulimiarecovery #bulimiaover40 #midlifebulimia #bulimiaover50 #eatingdisorder #eatingdisorders #bullimiaddict #iamthatgal #bulimiacoach #bingepurge #bingeingandpurging #throwup #deceit #hide #lie #food #overeating #bleepbulimia #podcast #itunes #apple #buzzsprout #amazonmusic #alexa #brocode #sistercode #codeBE A GUEST/FIND A GUEST Start for Free! I really appreciate Jacalyn for sharing her candid and compelling story about bulimia, and her continued struggle with it.  As a Bulimia Recovery Coach, this interview was not easy.  It is, however, honest and true.  When a bulimic is not ready to let go and still feels bulimia is the answer to remaining slim, it is a bigger challenge to recover, and as a coach, I would be there to listen, however until the client is truly ready, any program would have a lesser chance of being successful.  As we discuss, it really does have to come from within.  It has to be a personal choice to let go and recover.  To do it for others will not be sustainable.  I do want to emphasize that you CAN recover from bulimia.  You can maintain a healthy weight after recovery.  It is important for both of these that YOU have the desire to.  We also speak to the different levels of bulimia.  In Jacalyn's case, she is not a binger, however she does purge every day. Jacalyn also spoke observing online posts where people seem to feel the need to "outdo" each other in severity.  As discussed with Lisa Arnold, this can often reflect a need for attention.  It may not be the kind we truly want.Jacalyn also questioned the influence of support groups on Facebook, wondering if they may be a trigger at times.  I know I had felt that in live groups when I was first seeking to recover, particularly if the information was negative.  This interview is to share with the listeners the story of someone still struggling, and I admire Jacalyn for agreeing to share.  There are not many non-recovered bulimics willing to do this.Thank you, Jacalyn.#bulimia #bulimiarecovery #bulimiaover40 #midlifebulimia #bulimiaover50 #eatingdisorder #eatingdisorders #bullimiaddict #iamthatgal #bulimiacoach #bingepurge #bingeingandpurging #throwup #deceit #hide #lie #food #overeating #bleepbulimia #podcast #itunes #apple #buzzsprout #amazonmusic #alexa BE A GUEST/FIND A GUEST Start for Free! How Do You Want To Be Seen?  What a lovely question and one that Lisa asks her clients during the introductory session. From a small used camera that she received as a gift at 17, Lisa found it to be such a great experience to photograph everyone.  From there she began photographing wedding and learning about "being seen".Lisa tells of the story of having a beautiful bride who did not want herself photographed and realized no one is immune.  During the shoot, Lisa explains that the bride to be became more at ease simply from the power of being "seen",   This experience inspired Lisa to become a portrait photographer. At the beginning Lisa would ask "how do you want to be photographed" and realized it was not the best question, as no one knew.  Hence her change to the question "how do you want to be seen?".From the story of a mother and daughter together, a mother doing everything right by her daughter, suddenly catches a glimpse of herself in the mirror and puts herself down.  This reaction has the potential of affecting the daughter. "Reflecting back to them the beauty that I see", is what Lisa does with her work.  She truly creates art out of her portraits.  I suggest that those who are struggling with bulimia and their body image to step back and take time to go have your portrait done.  See that beauty reflected back to you through art, the art of photography. To connect and view Lisa's beautiful artistic portrait photography visit http://lisaarnoldphotography.com/ and to listen to her Podcast visit How Do You Want To Be Seen.  You can also find her on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/lisaarnoldphotographystudio and on Instagram @lisaarnoldphotography#bulimia #bulimiarecovery #bulimiaover40 #midlifebulimia #bulimiaover50 #eatingdisorder #eatingdisorders #bullimiaddict #iamthatgal #bulimiacoach #bingepurge #bingeingandpurging #throwup #deceit #hide #lie #food #overeating #bleepbulimia #podcast #itunes #apple #buzzsprout #amazonmusic #alexa #lisaarnoldphotography #portraitphotography #photography #portrait #art #howdoyouwantobeseen BE A GUEST/FIND A GUEST Start for Free!
