An inside look at They’re Trying to Kill Us from the creators of the groundbreaking documentary.   John Lewis and Keegan Kuhn join “The Weight Loss Champion” Chuck Carroll to discuss the making of the film and the systemic issues that are driving health inequality in the United States.   Why are people of color more likely to die from heart disease, diabetes, and cancer if genetics aren’t the reason? Here’s a scary fact. Only 1 out of every 1,000 meals served in restaurants qualifies as having “ideal” nutrition. Even scarier? Portion sizes at fast-food restaurants are three times larger than they were in 1950!   Could it be that our obsession with eating out is actually making us sick and die younger? It may sound extreme, but given all of the fat, salt, sugar, and sodium being served, it is fair to wonder whether what you order is taking years off of your life.   Dr. Vanita Rahman and Matthew Rees, editor of the Food and Health Facts newsletter and senior fellow at the Dartmouth Tuck School of Business, have the facts to back up that argument. They make the case that restaurants are playing an enormous role in the obesity epidemic when they join “The Weight Loss Champion” Chuck Carroll. From an abundance of calories to a lack of fiber, they have the true effect of restaurant food covered from all angles!   Plus, Chuck is joined by restaurateur Gregg Rozeboom, who is bucking the trend of enormous burgers and buckets of fries in favor of healthier options. Gregg is the founder of the plant-based oil-free restaurant chain Fruitive. He shares his philosophy that delicious food does not have to be detrimental to your health. Fruitive is proof that when it comes to healthy food, if you serve it, they will come. — — — Watch This Interview https://youtu.be/SJjeaTFPcBQ — — — Article: Are Restaurants Exacerbating the Obesity Epidemic? https://bit.ly/3mmphG0 — — — Fruitive Menu: https://fruitive.com/menu Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/fruitive Twitter: https://twitter.com/fruitive Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/fruitive — — — Dr. Vanita Rahman Simply Plant Based Cookbook: https://amzn.to/3zAu4YB Instagram: https://instagram.com/dr.vanita.rahman Twitter: https://twitter.com/DocVanita — — — Food and Health Facts Newsletter Web: https://foodandhealthfacts.com Twitter: https://twitter.com/FoodHealthFacts — — — Chuck Carroll Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ChuckCarrollWLC Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/ChuckCarrollWLC Facebook: http://wghtloss.cc/ChuckFacebook — — — 21-Day Vegan Kickstart App iOS: https://bit.ly/VegKStrt-iOS Android: https://bit.ly/VegKStrtAndrd Web: https://www.pcrm.org/kickstart — — — Barnard Medical Center Appointments https://bit.ly/BMCtelemed 202-527-7500 — — — Share the Show Please subscribe and give the show a 5-star rating on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or many other podcast providers. Cravings can be so frustrating! Anyone who has ever tried to stop eating chocolate, chips, cheese, or junk food will tell you that these foods are almost impossible to give up!   Dr. Mickey Witte, a neuroscientist specializing in food addiction, joins "The Weight Loss Champion" Chuck Carroll to explain the war between your brain and your belly. Their business model is built entirely on calculating the perfect blend of fat, salt, and sugar in all of their recipes to get you hooked.
