Dear Media, Whitney Port

I'm Whitney Port, and a lot has happened since you last saw me on The Hills. For starters, I'm a mom, I got married to the love of my life, Timmy, I run a business outside of fashion - it's time we finally catch up. There are so many facets that make up my life: relationships, parenthood, entrepreneurship, beauty, fashion, health, wellness and much more. Join me each week as we meet and discuss all these topics and more with trusted experts and favorite people on earth. Hopefully, we can embark on this new journey together with openness, honesty and a little bit of Whit.

I will keep this brief as the title speaks for itself. As you saw on Instagram, I was pregnant, but, last week, lost the baby. I found out Wednesday afternoon and was just shocked. I hope by sharing my feelings and story, some of you will not feel alone. x TW: This episode discusses miscarriage and pregnancy loss as well as terminal illness and depression. I am a major advocate for CBD and the de-stigmatization of the use of cannabis. Especially for women. Cannabis is something that we shouldn’t feel embarrassed or ashamed for using. I was so excited to speak with Amanda Goetz, the founder & CEO of House of Wise, as she feels the same way. During our chat we talked about why she built her brand, the benefits of CBD, the power females should feel embracing their sexuality, making choices with intention, pressures women put on themselves in the professional world...AND MORE!!! House of Wise is the personal wellness and luxury CBD brand empowering women to give more purposeful intention to their routines so they can take better control of their lives. Amanda made it her mission to source, develop and provide products to other women that were reliable, trusted and high-quality. Simultaneously, Amanda is focused on being a leader and advocate to break down the stigmas and double standards women face everyday. Through community and high-quality CBD products, Amanda and House of Wise are empowering women to control of their sleep, sex, stress, strength and wealth. One piece of advice I can give to any budding entrepreneurs is to not be afraid to consult and bounce ideas off of others in your industry. I believe we can learn so much from others who are in similar positions and have similar goals. We don't need to compete against one another, but support each other! I spoke with Brittany Xavier, who I’m sure had graced your social media feeds! Brittany is a former marketing executive turned Global Style Influencer. Her effortless style has made her a social media icon and creative director with a following of nearly 5 million. We talk about what goes into building her digital presence, why she decided to get on TikTok, what it’s like working with her husband and more! I love her content so much. Her recent venture into TikTok has led to over 3.5 million engaged fans in an expanded demographic. Most recently, in an effort to do her part, Brittany has used her influence to raise awareness and funds for non-profit @getusppe in addition to producing thousands of PPE ear guards (with a 3D printer) for frontline healthcare workers with her husband and 14-year-old daughter Jadyn. She has managed to have the fast-paced life of a thriving entrepreneur, influencer, creative director, wife and mother juggling it all and giving back. Honestly, I was super stressed on the day I interviewed Dr. Samantha Boardman. Which I guess was perfect timing because it was the main focus of our conversation! Does it feel like I am always stressed? Geeeeeeeezzzz. Anyways, thank goodness for Dr. Boardman. She is a Clinical Instructor in Psychiatry and Assistant Attending Psychiatrist at Weill Cornell Medical College and is the founder of PositivePrescription.com, a website devoted to making tweaks and changes that are life-enhancing and resilience-building by combining conventional medicine with positive psychology. During our chat we talk about why women are more prone to stress than men, tips for coping with stress, studies on kids of working moms, the power of finding light in micro-moments during your day and so much more. Dr. Boardman has been featured on the Today Show, is a regular contributor to the Huffington Post and Psychology Today, and has appeared in New York Magazine, Refinery 29, Goop, The Wall Street Journal, and Marie Claire. She is also the author of Everyday Vitality: Turning Stress into Strength, through which she shows readers how to find strength within their stress and how to transform full days into more fulfilling days. Recording a podcast is hard. I knew it would be but it continues to be. I am so proud of myself for doing this and sticking with it like I do. In this episode, I find more things to cheer myself on about, however, it’s hard sometimes to do so. Do any of you feel that way? Find it difficult to be your biggest advocate. We are all works in progress. I find myself in an emotional reflection on my career journey including the trauma that came with closing my line Whitney Eve and fears of my job stability. After that, I walk you through a week in my work life PLUS share a little challenge with you to stay organized (I’m doing it too!). I had the best time talking to Emme. I went into the conversation feeling a little all over the place (it was the launch day of my A Snug Autumn Collection with COZeCO!), but walked away feeling calmer and validated. Recognized globally as an advocate for women’s empowerment and body positivity, Emme is the iconic American model who fights for fairness and inclusivity in the fashion and beauty industries. During our chat we discussed toxic compassion on social media and beyond, how your body can be your biggest advocate, and the beauty of leaning on others in times of need. In her work as a brand spokesperson, television personality, podcast host, author, the first full-figured Revlon spokeswoman, keynote speaker, and creative director of her eponymous clothing lines, Emme’s message remains clear – self-esteem should not be decided by the number on the scale. My husband, Tim Rosenman, is the love of my life. Obsessed. He makes me laugh, feel at home, and the most loved. Since launching COZeCO this year, I have learned so much about marketing, direct to consumer business and general brand building. However, along with all this new knowledge comes a lot more questions! I sat down with Allie Francis, the Chief Marketing Officer for SuperOrdinary, to talk about tips and insights for running a successful marketing campaign and building a new business. SuperOrdinary is a global distribution partner and brand accelerator facilitating sustainable global expansion for amazing brands that I happen to LOVE including OUAI, Olaplex, Drunk Elephant, The Ordinary, Joanna Vargas, Biossance, and more. Allie comes in as an expert in brand building and integrated marketing. She specializes in evolving traditional marketing strategies into consumer-centric approaches to drive brand awareness and engagement on a global scale. This episode is brought to you by Arrae. I am so grateful to be connected with so many empowering and talented women in this industry. I went into this podcast interview feeling overwhelmed and ready for a vacation. I walked away inspired and driven to make adjustments in daily work life. Chriselle Lim is considered one of the pioneers in digital fashion content, starting her YouTube Channel and website, The Chriselle Factor, in 2011 from her college dorm room. We talk about the reality that creating unique content every day is a lot to ask, and we need to be ok with the fact that there are lulls in inspiration. Additionally, we discuss the power of slowing down, not being reactionary and saying no to the constant asks from others. Chriselle is also the co-founder of Bümo, which is an early childhood education platform; she is passionate about finding a modern solution for millennial parents, and specifically working mothers. During the pandemic she started Bümo Brain, helping parents educate their children virtually in the pandemic. Produced by Dear Media

I can’t believe we are in the second half of 2021 already. So much has happened, yet I cannot keep up with the time because I am constantly go, go, go, go. All that being said, I really wanted to carve out some time to reflect on this year so far and think about what I want my intentions and mindset to be for the remainder of it. It only seemed right to involve y’all in this thought process! I covered two major topics in this episode - my personal/mental health journey and motherhood this year. I walked you through what I’ve accomplished that I’m most proud of and my new goals! I really encourage you all to try this for yourselves. As always, I discovered new things about myself as I did this plus felt like I had my own productive therapy session. P.S. DM me your oatmeal recipes (not sludgy...textures...) and parenting books you love on IG xo Produced by Dear Media

As a creative and entrepreneur, I value talking to others working in this industry. I think it is so key to learn from one another - not to compete but more so to lift each other up in an effort to grow our businesses. Claire Tregoning and Pip Edwards join me to talk about my favorite thing - fashion. They are the founders and creative directors of P.E. Nation, one of my favorite active sportswear lifestyle brands. All of their pieces are so fresh and unique, so I was very excited to learn more about their process. We talk about the importance of looking beyond who your customer is, the struggle between staying true to your vision and using data to inform your designs, and MORE!   Claire and Pip's combined talent and vision have seen the brand grow from start-up in 2016 to wide global admiration and demand, with immediate industry recognition – taking home prestigious accolades including Best Emerging Designer at the Australian Fashion Laureate Awards in 2017, and the National Designer Award at VAMFF in 2018.  This episode is brought to you by Elemis, Bitty Baby and KiwiCo.   Elemis is the number one luxury British skincare brand that believes in “Truth in Beauty''. Last week was an emotional one. Sonny turned four, and I missed my dad so much. My grief washed over me, and I let myself cry for the first time in a while. Feeling everything was hard, however, I know it provided growth and realization that I can take with me into this week. I spent time reflecting and focused on the steps I needed to take to get to the next moment mindfully. As I did this, I thought about self-care related episodes I shared with you in the past. I thought it would be cool to do a "Best of WITH WHIT" featuring some of my favorite tips and conversations from three previous episodes. I ALWAYS get asked about balance. How do I balance being a career woman, mom, wife, human, etc. My answer is always the same: There is never a perfect balance. One thing is always heavier one day than it is another. I had the best conversation about balance with Naketa Ren Thigpen, LCSW. She is a psychotherapist, trauma specialist, sexology and relationship expert who has become the go-to for fast-scaling married women entrepreneurs and power couples seeking to balance love and success without dimming or apologizing for their spirited ambition. During our chat she explains how to not feel guilty about being selfish and making time for yourself, maintaining emotional intimacy with your partner and creating barriers for the purpose of overall relationship growth. You can find more about Naketa on instagram @asknaketa     This episode is brought to you by Talkspace, Coors Pure, Lovevery. Talkspace is a fraction of the cost of in-person therapy. It’s on days like these that I am so thankful for WITH WHIT. The day I interviewed Ryan Haddon, I was in such a slump. I felt this feeling of loss and sadness that I wasn’t able to pick myself out of. Ryan helped me start to climb out of the hole I was in, and I left feeling much more relaxed and welcoming to what lay ahead. Ryan is a certified Life and Spiritual coach, clinical Hypnotherapist, and certified meditation teacher with over 16 years of experience with clients around the world. We talked about the benefits of making a menu of what fills you up, not trusting all of our thoughts, and that by discovering our values and beliefs we can counter the concern of what other people think and so much more.  Ryan is a sought-after public speaker for corporate retreats. Additionally, she does private workshops such as “Stepping Into Your Purpose,” “The Work/Life Balance,” and “Finding Your Center.” She’s also the in-house Life Coach at Kourtney Kardashian’s website Poosh, where she has written more than 50 mind/body/spirit articles.        This episode is brought to you by Lovevery and Hooked On Phonics Give your child the confidence that reading brings with Hooked On Phonics. Last year, while life was on lockdown and there was so little we could control, I realized I desperately needed to focus on the strategy behind building an influential and important social media presence. I had this "AHA" moment but knew I wasn't capable of this overarching, big picture task. I like small touches and up-close views...and that's ok! I’ve learned the importance of acknowledging your strengths and weaknesses as early as possible so you know when to ask for help. I have the creative eye and vision, but needed someone not only versed in the inner workings of brand building and data analysis, but who also embodied the style, grace and silliness that my brand represents. Enter, Renee Ogaki!! Renee is the founder of OGAKI, the first digital PR agency of its kind. OGAKI is entirely focused on the online space and built for digital-first brands and personalities. Renee has helped me not only strengthen my Instagram channel, but is also handling the social and PR for my lounge line, COZeCO! During our chat she shares how she came up with the strategy for building my and COZeCO's social media accounts and gives some great advice for those looking to get into the digital marketing and PR space! She started working in the digital space before Instagram had even launched, creating a strong foundation of experience in building a brand’s voice and community online. Throughout her career, Renee has worked with pioneering brands across the beauty, fashion, hospitality and lifestyle space including Four Seasons, Diptyque, Charlotte Tilbury, Bulgari Hotels, New Balance, among others.    This episode is brought to you by Chloe Wine Collection.    Chloe Wine Collection is a female-led wine brand, dedicated to celebrating women’s stories and inspiring meaningful moments. If I am not recording a solo episode, then my favorite way to record a podcast is with my husband, Tim Rosenman! There’s no interviewing pressure – we just sit, chat, laugh and enjoy. For this episode, I had the idea for us to do a little homework beforehand. We each came into this conversation with a list of our five favorite things! I had no rules for what they needed to be, so it was so fun to hear how different they were – the lists spanned from apps to activities to mindfulness to products. Additionally, we provided a little life update for what is going on in our home.  To those who need – you can get the nipple covers/Nippies I love and talk about on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3sYu3cR   This episode is brought to you by Agency, Talkspace and Seed. My best ideas come while I am in the shower. I wish there was a way to take notes while in there, as sometimes I forget what I have thought about! Waterproof notepad? Thankfully, I did not lose my idea to make a Day in the Life podcast episode! Usually, I record for forty-five minutes in one sitting. I thought it would be cool to record an episode over twenty-four hours! SO, that’s what I did and it was really fun! Every three hours or so, I came back to my desk and recorded about a ten minute update of my day. I’ve talked about this before, but I have a blasé relationship with food. I do not crave a certain meal ever (well, maybe a rotisserie chicken basket from The Country Mart) or have excitement over cooking. A goal of mine is to break from my work to fuel my body. Make time for three meals a day. Sounds so simple, but for me it's not. Also, I need to take the pressure off myself that each meal needs to be this immaculate thing. I want to start looking at eating as a necessity to get my body working the way it needs to get me through the day. My conversation with registered dietician, Vanessa Rissetto, was amazing. I want to be her friend. She was so cool and shared so many scientific facts about eating and our bodies. She explained that eating certain foods should not be about gaining or losing weight but to simply give our bodies what they need to function and survive.  Vanessa is the co-founder of Culina Health. Her work in private practice includes treatment of GI disorders, bariatric surgery, weight management, PCOS, and family nutrition. She is mostly interested in helping clients to take an active role in their health journey, any of her clients can tell you she motivates and ensures that they always achieve success. Vanessa was named by Essence magazine as one of the top 5 black nutritionists that will change the way you think about food and currently serves as the Dietetic Internship Director at New York University.   This episode is brought to you by Pipette Pipette is a clean baby and mom care brand with a mission to give every family the best start. During my last solo chat with you all, I talked about how I labeled myself as lazy and unproductive. Last week, I had a huge realization. I feel unmotivated when I am doing work for others and not for me…when I am living my life for someone else. It’s in those moments where I lose the passion for my job and in turn begin to lose myself. In this episode, I recount memories that have contributed to this way of living and thinking. A major example I share is the fact that my 20’s were produced for me for a TV show. I was literally just along for the ride to my life. Now, in my 30’s I am in control, and I don’t know what to do with that power. It’s intimidating! While recording this, I really just wanted to let you into what’s going on in my brain right now. What I’ve learned is my life is mine, and I no longer want to be a bystander to it.   This episode is brought to you by Art of Tea. It’s a Timmy Takeover!! The other week, I had so much on my plate, so I asked Timmy if he would be interested in taking over my podcast for an episode, so I could focus on some other work that needed to be done. If you know him, you know that I did not have to twist his arm. This is another part of my self-care series, and he answered the questions that I previously responded to about self-care. I thought it would be cool for you to hear how we both implement self-care into our lives as you might get further inspired by new ideas. Hope you enjoy this one, I know he did! I identify as Jewish, however, do not actively practice the faith. I consider myself a very spiritual person. During my conversation with Rabbi Steve Leder, we discuss the idea that the word spirituality has lost its meaning as it is consistently overused. It has so much meaning that it now has no meaning. Rabbi Leder, who has played a part with my family for a long time, explains the path to spirituality, the true power of gratefulness and how religion is a vessel to maintain spirituality. Additionally, we spoke about grief. Now more than ever, people all over the world are experiencing grief at varying degrees – the loss of a loved one, the loss of a job, the loss of touch, etc. He explains how important it is to accept grief into your daily life instead of fighting against it. I was so moved by his messages and left this conversation looking at my grief so differently. I hope this can help those who are struggling.  To learn more about Rabbi Leder’s messages on grief check out "The Beauty of What Remains: How Our Greatest Fear Becomes Our Greatest Gift" – his inspiring book about loss based on his most popular sermon. I come from a big family! I have three sisters and a brother. Having a big family has its pros and cons, but the biggest pro is that I have so many people to love and be best friends with. Everyone lives in LA except my littlest sister, Jadey Robbins. I miss her constantly. She made a last minute, extended trip to LA, and I, of course, had to bring her on to talk with you all! She is another fave repeat guest of mine. Isn’t she just the sweetest!? She shares all of her must-know beauty tips and products - she is a bigger junkie than I am. We go down memory lane - as best we can. Plus, we share tips for coping with grief. Love you, Jadey!   This episode is brought to you by COOLA. Additionally, Jessica shares tips for how to create brand identity.    Named a “Personal Branding Expert” by Forbes, a Top Digital Marketer To Watch by INC, and honored with the Gold and Silver Stevie® Award for “Female Entrepreneur of the Year” in 2018 and 2019, Jessica facilitates sold-out workshops and speaks on the power of personal branding to corporations including Google, Salesforce, Virgin, Nike, Motorola, Red Bull, and Bank of America. After some unintentional podcast research - aka I have been listening to a lot of podcasts - I have decided to do more SOLO episodes. I really love talking to y’all from a personal level and it seems to come really naturally to me. Plus, I walk away from all of these feeling very rejuvenated and positive which, as I said in my recent self-care episode, is most important to me right now. Solo episodes also include some light-hearted and fun episodes with my favorite guest, my husband, Timmy! In this episode, we have fun with some rapid fire questions! Hope you enjoy our singing and silliness.     This episode is brought to you by Mejuri. Mejuri makes fine jewelry for your every day fairly priced, handcrafted and ethically sourced. My goals this year are to prioritize my mental health and to check myself when I start to burden my mind with negative self talk. As we all know, this is easier said than done. I have said this a million times, but we have to show up for ourselves before we can show up for others. This is the first of a series of episodes I am going to do where I share updates on my self-care regimen. Recording these are so therapeutic for me, and I hope you find them helpful as well! In this round, I share how I try to calm myself down, reframe my thinking during moments of heavy negativity, how important it is to literally schedule time for yourself and more. Most importantly, I want to mention that I have not mastered these tools yet. These are all things I am working on and striving to hold myself accountable for. I am giving myself love and becoming my biggest advocate, not my worst enemy.   This episode is brought to you by Mejuri. Katherine Power is an amazing business woman that I have admired for years. I learned so much from her in this chat. She is a prolific consumer-brand builder, CEO, and investor focused on creating products and businesses that connect to millennial and Gen Z consumers. Katherine has taken age-old industries and reimagined them with data-led, digital-first business models built for the modern shopper. Katherine and I chat all about her new, clean beauty brand, MERIT, the path she took to create her successful business empire, and how she uses feedback on her ideas to inform her next business venture.  Key themes to Katherine’s brands include accessibility, inclusivity, clean ingredients, and sustainability. Katherine is the co-founder of Who What Wear, an international fashion company, and Avaline, an organic wine brand. Additionally, she is the founder of Versed Skincare... one of my favorite brands that you have heard me talk about a lot! This year has been a struggle for each of us and has challenged everyone’s mental health in some way. The uncertainty of the future is the most anxiety triggering for me. I start to spiral about the ‘what ifs” and then I just feel down. I miss seeing my family and “normalcy”...whatever that even means anymore. I am really thankful that I got to speak with Goali Saedi Bocci, Ph.D. During our conversation we discuss finding balance and setting boundaries with social media, coping with isolation, cognitive distortions and even my own triggers and anxieties. Dr. Saedi Bocci is an award-winning licensed clinical psychologist in private practice, published author, millennial expert, TEDx speaker, educational trainer, and media personality. She has been a columnist for Psychology Today for nearly a decade; her Millennial Media blog has garnered close to three million hits worldwide. 2020 has been a year of hardship, stress, sadness, anxiety, depression...a lot of negative. However, there have also been moments of learning, finding light, feeling shine and experiencing growth. I wanted to reflect on my year not only to share with you some of my lessons to hopefully inspire you to look at yours, but also to say things out loud. I walked away from recording this feeling so proud of myself and happy. It truly felt like a therapy session, and I found myself actually learning new things about myself as I spoke. The power of self reflection is evident. I highly recommend that you take a moment to look back at all of the experiences you went through this year. Good, bad, happy, sad, wins, mistakes, stresses...there is something you will be able to take away from all of them. Trust me. Thank you all for listening to my podcast this year. Timmy and I are currently making reaction videos to ‘The Hills’ on my YouTube! Did you know that?! Prior to watching 'The Hills' we binged the whole series of 'The City,' the show where I moved to NYC to follow my dreams! It was crazy and amazing, and I met some of the most inspiring people. One of those people is Joe Zee - someone I look up to immensely. Timmy and I chat with him all about his experience filming a reality show while serving as Creative Director at ELLE Magazine! Joe is an internationally acclaimed TV producer, host and style expert, and fashion industry veteran. Joe’s impressive resume features leadership roles at mega fashion publications including Creative Director at ELLE Magazine and Editor-in-Chief and Executive Creative Officer at Yahoo! Style. His trusted fashion expertise has earned him roles on top broadcast programs, including the role of resident judge on Canada’s Stitched and Oscar’s pre-show coverage for ABC’s Good Morning America, as well as on-air contributions to NBC’s TODAY, CNN, Access Hollywood and Entertainment Tonight. Most recently, he produced the Netflix documentary series, ‘7 Days Out’.   Produced by Dear Media

The process of finding the right school for Sonny was daunting and scary. It’s a lot of pressure to send your child to the “right” place where they can flourish. When you start to look, you hardly know your child’s personality yet so it’s confusing to know what’s right. The more you search, the more you realize there isn’t just one “right” place. They are all perfect in their own right but the one that worked for us was simply based on a gut reaction. We chose a Montessori School because we love their philosophy and it just felt warm and cozy. Prior to quarantine, I spoke with Zahra Kassam, Founder and CEO of venture-backed start-up, Monti Kids: the only subscription service for children ages 0-3 that provides an authentic Montessori education, proven in schools for over 100 years. During our conversation, Zahra explains all of the benefits to a Montessori education, its history and ways parents can start implementing this philosophy into their homes. Zahra holds a BA in Psychology from Harvard and a Master's degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She is an internationally certified Montessori teacher at the infant, toddler and preschool levels and a mother to two young boys. Through Monti Kids, Zahra is filling the education gap from birth to preschool, the most critical years of development when 85% of the brain is formed.
