Welcome to the 6th episode of Season 3 of the Mark and Embark Podcast by ScoutMyTrip. The host for this episode is Myra Naik. Hot water springs are a fascinating natural phenomenon that you should definitely include in your travel plans. We don’t see them prioritized very often in trip schedules, and when people come across some of them, they’re always pleasantly surprised. Indeed, there are quite a few hot springs in India, and many are mineral rich, therapeutic and rejuvenating. Often present in otherwise freezing locales, they provide a welcome respite from the cold, and many also have healing properties. How exactly are hot springs formed? Rain seeps into the ground to form underground pools. When this groundwater is heated by magma and the surrounding rocks, it rises up to the surface. This geothermally heated ground water forms a hot spring. There are many such hot springs in India, so let’s learn more! Famous Hot Springs in India That Are Worth a Visit Many hot springs around the country, are, luckily, the right temperature for soaking into a luxurious bath. However, do note that some hot springs may have very high temperatures and as such it is advisable to do your research and be careful while visiting hot springs. Welcome to the 5th episode of Season 3 of the Mark and Embark Podcast by ScoutMyTrip. The host for this episode is Myra Naik. Travelers have changed a lot over the years. It is no longer just about visiting places that are famous and well-known. They want to visit new and offbeat destinations while understanding their culture. There is only so much that Google can help you with researching about a particular place. If you wish to truly enjoy a holiday, you have to experience the local essence of your chosen destination and who can give you better information of the place than the local guides themselves. At Scout my Trip, we love our Scouts and the wonderful experiences they bring to our community of travelers. All our Scouts are virtual travel guides who help you plan your trip and bring a personal touch with their recommendations of things to do in a new place. Since they know their areas inside out, you get suggestions that are off the beaten path – things only locals would know. All those things make your overall experience so much better than trying to figure out where to go by checking online. So why do you need a Scout? A curated experience that blows your mind. Ideas, suggestions and advice that make your trip so much more memorable. Unique plans based on your needs and wants and interests. A personalized trip created with you in mind. You get all this, and much more, when you plan a trip with a virtual travel guide. Let’s find out more about the benefits of hiring a Scout! Our mobile app is now on Android and iOS! Welcome to the 11th episode and the final episode of Season 2 of the Mark and Embark Podcast by ScoutMyTrip. The host for this episode is Vineet Rajan, the co-founder of ScoutMyTrip.  When we conceptualized the whole idea behind ScoutMyTrip, the only thing on our minds was to make travel a more enjoyable experience for everyone. But, as we delved further, we learned more from our customers as to what they were looking for – more than a mere navigation map. They seek information like offbeat locations, restaurants, hygienic restrooms, home stays and more. Well, with endless miles in our trip history and expertise of the same, we created a trip planner that solved the purpose. Today, we areIndia’s first subscription-based travel planner where we offer curated experiences, Scout subscriptions and a personalized trip for each of our customers. Our planner is powered by Scouts who are travel experts spread across India, Nepal and Bhutan.  The year 2019 saw over 3000 travelers buy our subscription plans. A majority of the subscriptions came from Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi and Pune – which was close to 75%. Of the remaining – Hyderabad and Chennai were leading.  It has been an incredible year of travel, and we thought of doing a little recap for our story and also sharing insights on how people are traveling.  You can also read this on our blog: 2019 - The Year That Was written by Sunaina Aiyappa. Welcome to the 3rd episode of Season 2 of the Mark and Embark Podcast by ScoutMyTrip. The host for this episode is Myra Naik.   A road trip is just not about arriving at the destination. Neither just about having a good time on four wheels. It is an opportunity to break free from your mundane routine. It is a chance to explore the unexplored. Those carefree days speeding on highways or dirt roads clear your head. Driving has a therapeutic effect and gives you that chance to introspect. Sometimes a road trip may not even end as you had planned. But if you can reflect back on those memories with a smile on your face and a silent tear in your eye, then it was all worth it. If nothing else, a road trip most definitely teaches you some life lessons that no form of formal education will ever teach you. In this episode Myra talks about 7 life lessons only road trips can teach you. Original Blog post about road trip life lessons was written by Shalini Mimani on our blog. The host for this episode is Myra Naik.  In this episode Myra talks about one of the niftiest innovations in the technology space to hit Indian Highways - The FASTag!  Haven’t you been seeing the FASTag mentioned on the news pretty often? In fact, it was recently declared that the FASTag will be made mandatory in a few months for all vehicles. So what exactly are the uses of a FASTag and why should you get it? The FASTag is essentially a reloadable tag that allows you to pass through toll plazas without having to stop to pay the toll charges by cash. The FASTag allows automatic deduction of the applicable toll charge from a linked prepaid account. The tag works on RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology. Once the tag is activated, it is attached to the windscreen of the vehicle. From thereon, you can go through toll plazas without having to stop, and the charges will be deducted automatically. It is currently functional at 420+ toll plazas across the country. Driving on mountain roads  2. Road trip vehicle check list  3. Road trip packing check list  4. Driving in the monsoons  5. Handling breakdowns on a road trip  6. Welcome to the fourth episode of the Mark and Embark Podcast by ScoutMyTrip. The host for this season is the co-founder - Vineet Rajan. In this episode we will talk about using mapping technologies like Google Maps and ScoutMyTrip for making navigation on a road trip easier and less trouble free. In this episode we talk about: Issues faced when navigating using Google Maps or other mapping technologies. Solutions to the issues faced I had mentioned that I would be adding show notes for a couple of tricks with Google Maps. These are described below. So considering that, it would be 10. ScoutMyTrip allows 25 points on a single map compared to 10 that Google offers. To start doing that you'll need to head to the road trip planner and simply enter and start and end locations. Welcome to the second episode of the Mark and Embark Podcast by ScoutMyTrip. The host for this season is the co-founder - Vineet Rajan. This episode looks at the recommended itinerary for Ladakh which is longish and 19 days in all starting from Delhi and ending there. With the in-house expertise of Neeraj Sinha (Yayawar) we've made this route which includes places which are off most the road trip maps of Ladakh. You can look at reducing this to 12 odd days by removing some of the places. *Links mentioned on the podcast for further reading. * List of all places in order. For complete itinerary check the route map that is shared further below.  Delhi Jammu Srinagar Kargil Dah and Hanu Villages Lamayuru Leh Turtuk Hunder (Nubra Valley) Panamik Spangmik (Pangong Tso) Hanle Karzok Sarchu Keylong / Jispa Manali Delhi List of all passes in Ladakh (Wikipedia). Please sort this by state and you will get all of it. Some recommended hotels Sonamarg: Hotel Tranquil Retreat Kargil: Hotel Zozila Residency Leh: Hotel Grand Dragon Manali: Hotel Orchid Greens Getting Inner Line Permits before your Ladakh Trip requires you to send across your documents to a verified travel agent in Leh who does the paper work for you. This is usually more expensive but can save you an hour or so and highly advisable if you are heading to Karzok first instead of Leh. The ScoutMyTrip help you with your ILPs, so hit us up anywhere online and we'll have you going! Since we have mentioned the route map a few times for Ladakh, here you go! Route Map for Ladakh planned on ScoutMyTrip. The map can be customized and saved to your profile. So feel free to reduce or increase the duration using our DIY road trip planner which is free to use. The discussion on Ladakh itineraries is endless and there is no way to say which one is the best. This is what we would recommend; but there could always be another thought to this. But the one thing we would NEVER recommend would be fly to Leh and start running around without acclimatization - that is a recipe for disaster. Stay away from all the 5-6 day itineraries which tour operators will be selling. If you would want us to plan the trip for you, check out our pricing for road trip planning services. You could also just pick our curated road trip package for Ladakh off the shelf.
