You, The Universe, The Holistic Mind

Catherine Potter

What is a holistic mind? A holistic mind is inclusive, expansive, discerning, juicy, compassionate, clear, creative, open to discovery, is multisensory and has the ability to gently laugh at oneself. A holistic mind understands it is part of the universe and the natural laws that govern it.

Would you like to deepen your understanding of natural laws such as cause and effect – aka karma; relationships and the law of attraction, mirroring and shadow? What about integrated leadership, metaphysics and the mystical arts?

In this second part of a two-part series on Astrology, Catherine Potter talks about how to work with planetary cycles and gives an astrological overview for 2020. Catherine Potter My introduction in the early 80′s to yoga, meditation & astrology rekindled a childhood fascination with all things mystical and a journey began. By weaving together Eastern and Western teachings, which included training in different branches of astrology, hypnotherapy and meditation, I was able to find ways to bring ancient practices into daily living and begin the process of grounding the often externalized idea of spirituality. I became fascinated with the idea of bringing a practical approach to mystical topics and a reverence to daily routines. It continues to be an ongoing journey. I first began my career as a professional astrologer in 1986 and added hypnotherapy in 1997. Combining the two modalities allowed me to create a counseling technique which helps a client gain a better understanding of their archetypal blueprint as well as help release blocks that inhibit the full expression of who they are. I later spent time furthering my studies in meditation, yoga and ayurvedic teachings and ended up getting certified in Vedic studies. In 1995 I began The Center College for Wholistic Studies which evolved in 2004 and I then became one of the founders and teachers at The Northern Star College of Mystical Studies. Also in 1995 along with Brenda Mottram, I began Mosaic Magazine. We both loved the idea of creating a voice for the growing and thriving holistic community in Edmonton. After a year Brenda moved to the Uk and I continued to publish the magazine until 2004. Mosaic Magazine has continued to grow and flourish with its new owner and publisher. A passion for uncovering one’s “naked voice” to coin a Chloe Goodchild phrase has had me continuing to write and publish articles and poetry as well as explore sound therapy.  In 2019,  I've expanded on this journey through the creation of the podcast, You, The Universe, The Holistic Mind. Along with many insightful guests, it allows me to talk about what a holistic mind can create in every walk of life.

What is Chi Nei Tsang and how can it help us release emotional tensions that are buried in our belly? Join Catherine Potter and her guest Peter Melnychuk, a body-centered therapist to find out how Chi Nei Tsang can get stagnant energy flowing.   Peter Melnychuk It was 1996 when Peter first had his belly “unwound” it was profound. After a few more sessions of this abdominal touch therapy – Chi Nei Tsang – he noticed a significant improvement in his health.  This gentle, precise visceral bodywork, centered on the internal organs (intestine, stomach, liver), effectively released physical and emotional tension and trauma. Peter has dedicated himself to a search for the most effective global visceral healing practices. This began his training in both traditional and modern, eastern and western therapies. These studies have taken him throughout North America, and many times to India and Thailand. His primary therapeutic training, in Visceral Manipulation (VM) and in Chi Nei Tsang (CNT), began 20 years ago. These practices are largely unfamiliar to the public, compared to more familiar practices such as massage & craniosacral therapy. More recently, Peter’s eclectic approach to healing has had him add other therapies to better help those with issues relating to the nerves & the brain (Neural Manipulation), stubborn tension & old injuries (Tok Sen), as well as allergies & food sensitivities (Total Body Modification). Peter is a widely respected teacher in the field. He has also been an athlete all his life. Soccer, qigong, & more recently, bouldering has supplanted cycling and yoga as his favorite physical activities. Peter Melnychuk is dedicated to physical, emotional, spiritual fitness for himself and his clients.

Join Catherine Potter and Tammie Quick, author and homeopathic doctor who specializes in the Heilkunst method of homeopathy, for an informative conversation about the healing power of the principle "like cures like".   Tammie Quick What do you get when you cross a Heilkunstler with a singer? Tammie Quick. Boy, if the kids in high school could see her now! Once voted most likely to succeed, becoming a Doctor of anything was never in anyone’s thoughts.  Tammie was the girl in all the choirs, all of the theatre productions (and some of the detention rooms) and who won all of the artistic scholarships… but none of the academic ones! Yet being on tour in backroads Alberta, BC and Saskatchewan took its toll on Tammie’s health, and that led to an obsessive interest in alternative ways of staying healthy. Years later when her firstborn was diagnosed on the autistic spectrum, Tammie was drawn further to alternative health care and away from the mainstream medical system of drugs and surgery. Eventually, Heilkunst homeopathy revealed itself to Tammie, and she hungrily lapped up the education that earned her the designation of Dr. of Homeopathy and Heilkunst.  Tammie practices at the Quick Health Clinic in St. Albert, AB, Canada and has been blessed with a thriving practice for over ten years.
