This is not a podcast episode but a special episode. :) Today, November 05, 2021, is our 9th founding Anniversary. One of the many crazy ideas I had came to life.  When I started freelancing back in 2011, I knew I was taking a huge risk in life and my career. After nine years, here I am, with Article and Design under my belt.  Yes, Article and Design (as a digital marketing business) has been in the digital industry for nine years. Hooray! Article and Design is not only a digital marketing business; it is also a learning hub for Filipino freelancers and business owners. When the pandemic started in 2020, my former business partner and I planned to produce a podcast for Filipinos who wanted to freelance or create their businesses. The goal is to help Filipinos find work online since they got laid off due to the pandemic. And this was our response to the call: Article and Design podcast (formerly known as the Superfreelancers podcast). And then...I thought it must be possible to offer lessons (or an even better) "guide" about building a premium freelancer career for a cheaper cost. No upsells, subscription costs and hidden gimmicks—pure lessons, No BS, No fluff and backed by over nine years of experience. I decided it was time that freelancing courses would be designed for Filipino freelancers by a Filipino freelancer whose intention is not to make a profit out of your "innocence" in freelancing but a mission to change the game of how Filipinos are perceived globally. I vowed only to create lessons made by practitioners who worked as freelancers, not those who made money selling you the "idea" of freelancing. Thus the birth of the Article and Design courses. I wanted to share the "systems" in marketing yourself as a professional Filipino freelancer and build your premium career. Article and Design's heartbeat is on a #1MillionMission. The mission is to transform 1 Million Filipinos to become #SUPERFREELANCERS. Our dream is to create a thriving community that is diverse, accessible, equitable, and inclusive. Fast forward to today; here we are, strong and growing. How time flies when you are having fun, right? Today marks the 9th Anniversary of Article and Design, and I am so thankful that we are here. I created this quick backstory video that may inspire every Filipino freelancer or business owner here. If I gave up nine years ago, I wouldn't be where I am today. Thank you, everyone, for joining me in this mission. I owe everything to you. Your win is Article and Design's win. If you want to change the game with us, we welcome you to hang your hat! 💙 This episode of the podcast is a response to a poll we asked in our Article and Design FB group about your current struggles during this pandemic. And most of you answered the lack of motivation and not earning enough because you are not motivated to work.  💙 And you know how we do it in Article and Design, we give you tips that are straight-forward, practical and things that your fake friends won’t tell you.😜  🙅‍♀️I am not going to mention exercise, proper nutrition, having a break etc and getting enough sleep because these things are obviously what we should be doing whether we are experiencing a pandemic or not. If you love yourself and your family you should be doing these things. I will not bore you with these things since you are old enough to know why these things are important.  ==  Check out the previous episodes of the podcast👇👇👇  🎧Spotify: https://spoti.fi/2YullX3  📟YouTube Playlist: https://bit.ly/3grmAPf  ==  Tools mentioned  💰 WISE (Transferwise) ➡️ https://articleanddesign.com/wise  💻 SUPERFREELANCERS course ➡️ https://bit.ly/3au8E5P  ==  💌 Join us in our A&D community ➡️ https://bit.ly/36FRAHh and learn more about the systems and skills in marketing yourself as a Filipino freelancer and SET CLIENTS FOR LIFE.  💌 Check out our marketing for Filipino freelancers courses here ➡️ https://bit.ly/3u0hGOV  ==  💙 To continue providing you free lessons, you can support us by donating as low as $3 on our KOFI page ➡️ https://bit.ly/3F5h9B5  ==  DISCLAIMER: This is a personal podcast or series. In this episode, I had the honour to chat with Lean Fernandez, a Digital Marketing Specialist and a freelancer for over 10 years who focuses on Social Media Marketing. Lean is a nurse by profession but chose the freelancing world. She helps health, wellness, and fitness coaches generate more leads and memberships through Facebook ads, sales funnels, and email marketing. This is probably my favourite topic to date as we talked about the Digital Marketing world and how the landscape changed in over 10 years. And just like that we are dropping our new episode for this week. In this episode, Jen and I talked about the 7 tips on how to create realistic and attainable goals for freelancers and business owners. Success doesn’t happen by accident, you are intentional about it. It’s February and you haven't figured out what your goals are and why you keep on going in circles? Or why most people inevitably end up with a "wishlist" rather than goals to achieve systematically? We also shared our experiences in getting burnt out and managing frustration if you can't achieve your goals and when do you know if it's not for you or it's time to let go of that goal? We are back with our brand new episode! We are talking about the common dilemma of aspiring Filipino freelancers or even existing freelancers. "I can’t start or I can’t be good at freelancing because I can’t communicate effectively, I don’t have the best English grammar and accent. Hindi ako magaling sa English and kinakabahan ako makipag usap sa client." "And I am afraid I might disappoint the client or fail during interviews." So how do we fix this? WE ARE FINALLY DONE WITH 2020! LAST STORY TIME FOR THIS YEAR: Our podcast came to fruition late this year of 2020. We first named it as SUPER FREELANCERS PH Podcast and then rebranded it to ARTICLE AND DESIGN PODCAST later on. In June this year, during the quarantine/lockdown Margaret and I released our first episode. To date we have more than 3,500++ downloads from 14 countries across 24 episodes. What started as a pastime to get through the pandemic and to catch up on each other's lives has taken on a life of its own as our listeners grow and began to suggest ideas for future episodes. We adapted quickly by recording via Zoom. We didn't really know what we were getting ourselves into so taking care of all the production shizz has a little bit of a steep learning curve. The first and second series of the podcast happened during the height of the quarantine and we don't really receive funding for it  except from our own pocket (haha) but we wanted to keep the momentum going because we were getting lots of great feedback. BRANDING IS KEY Having a clear branding has really helped us raise our profile as the co-creators of the Article and Design in a short amount of time. We have also learnt that the podcast is the beginning of our brand rather than the end point. A&D FAM 💙 We launched our own Facebook Group the Article and Design: Super Freelancers PH, which now has more than 1,300 members and is growing fast. And some of them joined by discovering our podcast! We made invaluable connections and support inside the group from like minded individuals and fellow filipino freelancers and we are so happy to be building a family of SUPER FREELANCERS FINALLY.... The podcast wasn’t a hit overnight but it has grown enormously since it began six months ago and is continuing to rise exponentially. The podcast is a great reminder that patience is a virtue It takes time to build an audience and to make people believe in the value that you can offer. Also.... Passion projects are worth pursuing! We started the podcast because it was a way to talk about a topic we truly cared about. We though we were going to put out a few episodes and that would be the end of it. While it has taken a lot of work to get to this stage, it has been worth it... Thank you to our guests and co-hosts! Thank you for taking your time! We appreciate you forever!!! 💙💕 Jen Obenza Job Eloja Milna Tulao Vasquez Ella De Leon Bern Boclaras Francis Aquino Tanya Loyola Kris Banzon Thank you so much for being a part of the A&D community! See you in 2021 💙 Your co-creators and biggest fans, Candice & Margaret 😊💕

Many filipino freelancers and aspiring freelancers struggle in finding direction when getting started because they are trying to be everything to everyone.  “Throw enough mud at the wall, some of it will stick”. If you make enough attempts or guesses, some of them will be correct or useful. This goes the same to freelancing or building a business, we try out a lot of things and services until something works really well. And this is normal because in order for you to know what you want and where you are good at, you have to try. And most creative entrepreneurs learn by doing it. It’s still a hands-on experience. But it’s hard when you’re just getting started and its important that you have that idea or goal that you need to focus on one thing instead of being a jack-of-all-trades. We'll give you 5 steps in finding direction as a filipino freelancer from generalist to specialist in this episode. In this podcast episode, we discuss what is biohacking and how you can use it to become the best version of yourself. We will share to you biohacking tips we do so you can also use it to level up your health, performance and productivity. Biohacking is scientific based since it offers a systems-thinking approach to your own biology. This is what sets biohacking apart from the rest of the self-improvement. Think of these biohacks as your super powers into becoming a super freelancer. Uncover all of these to have more energy and focus, to be free of disease, to have a better memory and to perform optimally in your freelancing business. It’s important to know what biohacking is because what you put into your body has an ENORMOUS impact on how you feel. Here are 5 biohacking tips for freelancers and how to start incorporating them into your daily routine: Being mindful of your nutrition. What we eat and drink is one way we alter our state of mind. Get in the flow through meditation. Meditation has been one of our super powers to boost our creativity. If I experience creative blocks, I put my phone down, close my laptop and just be still. Meditation is a great tool to enhanced awareness. To change where we direct our attention, we need to become aware of our attention. Exercise/Get outdoors Start by just spending a little more time outside and get some sunlight. Try to connect yourself with nature and ground. Connections. Surround and connect yourself your people who are good for you and your soul. Be picky of who you deal with because  your connections can either boost your energy and vibration or deplete it. There are a lot of people who are energy vampires like those dementors in harry potter who suck the life out of you. Practice gratitude Gratitude is a daily practice, similar to meditation. Like meditation, it becomes more natural over time. In fact, gratitude and meditation go very well together. You can try to have your own gratitude journal and write at least three things you are grateful for the day. You can even just put it on your notes app in your phone. What you put into your body affects what you get out. In this case, your thoughts create the world you experience. If you put gratitude in, you get gratitude out. We will discuss more tips like this in our bonus micro course: Habits: The Good Juju Freelancer when you enroll in the SUPER FREELANCERS COURSE. Here’s the link to enroll: https://articleanddesign.com/enroll-here/ *Caveat: These biohacking tips are safe biohacks you can try at home. The best biohacking results come from being well-informed and cautious about what works for your body. What works for us may not work for you.
