Holly Sharp is the author of Dream It & Do It, a collection of 100 short stories featuring real world role models, designed to encourage kids to discover a wide variety of interests. In today’s solo jam, I am talking about why it is so important to ditch the positivity and get into the possibility. The wonder, hope, and curiosity. On your journey to joy, it is ok, rather particularly important for you to truly feel. Feel the hurt, the unhappiness, the sad, mad, and frustration. Your body knows that you are not ok, and by only thinking and feeling the positive thoughts, you are masking the real problems. Today I am getting into something called spiritual bypassing. This is when we talk ourselves out of the pain. We ignore the feelings. You know that whole sweep it under the rug saying, that is exactly it! From your beliefs and behaviors to gratitude and never giving up. I am diving deep on this topic today. I want you to be able to process the pain. I want you to be able to become that person you want to be. Today you can start, by taking the small steps to get you pointed into that direction and enjoy the surprise and delight of life again. I want you to ask yourself this. What is in the way of you achieving everything now? Where do you really want to be right now? We all get to choose, so choose the path that truly lights you up. Crystal Soto is a Grief Coach. She helps women who have lost a loved one navigate their grief to come back home to themselves. Crystal lost her dad when I was 19 and her mom when she was 25. Crystal lived in my grief for years and once she started doing the deep work to release the stuck emotions, she started seeing the shifts in herself. Now Crystal is on a mission to share that with other women. Losing both parents was not an easy thing to go through for Crystal or anyone for that matter. There were lots of hard ache and grief. A sense of losing herself in many ways. As Crystal started doing the work and leaning into gratitude and shifting her perspective, she started healing and finding the joy in life again. We only have one human experience we will remember living through and she had way too much life to live. Tune in today to hear how you can find happiness after losing someone. Allow pain to be your teacher and how inviting in gratitude can change your life. We also discuss some of the coping mechanisms we both leaned in to when we were going through our own griefs. Grief is not something you go through only from losing someone, which we dive into more today. We both agreed when sharing our stores that it was exhausting when we were trying to pretend everything is ok. We both found our own ways to heal such as journaling, breathwork and coaching that has gotten us to where we are today. Today I am chatting with my good friend and Breathwork Coach Karishma Donde. Karishma started Breathwork Society to help people heal through the power of their own breath & other somatic healing practices. Mental health awareness and access is at the core part of Karishma’s life mission. She believes that everyone has the right to know how to heal themselves through preventive care. She recently quit her 9-5 job to become a full time Breathwork Coach. Being a first generation immigrant, she recognized that there were cultural constructs that were holding her back from living out her wildest dreams an now helps others to live their own empowered lives by breaking free of their own cultural standards, people pleasing, perfectionism, and high-performing anxiety through breathwork. Natural medicine and Ayurveda were a part of her cultural upbringing and she loved it so much that she would unofficially give her friends and other family members advice on living a healthier (antibiotics/prescription free life). This lifestyle and off-the-books mentoring taught her how to lead with her intuition and create individualized healing plans for her clients. One of her life goals is to get more diversity into the mental health space. Dr. Asha Bauer is a psychologist, holistic success coach, and founder of The Consistent Creative. Today I am talking with Steph German all about how we can tap into trauma. You may remember Steph from a previous episode where we she shared with us the difference between coaching versus therapy. Steph is a Life Coach who specializes in self love and body image and she helps trauma survivors find their freedom and step into their purpose. On today’s show we get to hear the science behind how trauma lives and the steps we need to take in order to heal from it. Trauma is an experience that humans go through when something happens too much, too fast, too soon, too little or too late. Now that may seem a bit intense, but Steph goes over all of this with us today. From where the trauma lives in our brain to the connection with our nervous system to finding our own window of tolerance. You are going to learn all the science behind this. It is my birthday week! Woo Hoo! I cannot be any more excited to share this solo jam episode with you. When I sat down to create the content for this show I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted to say or talk about. Then I quickly realized that what I should share are the important life lessons I have learned over the past year. I feel like not sharing would not be the right thing to do. In today’s episode I am sharing a conversation I had with my dear friend Ne’Cole Olson. Ne’Cole is a Feminine Energy Coach who teaches women how to heal their relationship with food and their bodies. She helps women learn how to not care what others say about them, end their struggles with their weight and feel sexy as hell in their own skin. In 2018, Ne’Cole started a book club with a small group of women. Through reading that book, she was able to finally look at her past wounds and how they were affecting her health. Binging, restricting, obsessive exercising and her marriage as well as limiting her own life. It was the beginning of her having some extremely hard conversations with herself, her husband (ex now) and some loved ones. Ne’Cole believes that all of that happened for a reason because it directed her towards enrolling in the Hungry for Happiness Certification Program in January 2019. This is where she got to dive even deeper into those old beliefs about herself and continue to be true to what she wanted out of life. There were lots of lessons throughout 2019, but she knew to take each one as it came and to really be curious about them. There were lots of wonderful things that happened too. Ne’Cole graduated from Hungry for Happiness, got her own place and is in the process of divorcing her husband. Please remember that your feelings and emotions are important and need to be shared even if they may hurt someone to hear them. In today’s Cup of Joy episode, I am chatting with Brielle Brasil. Brielle is a Food Freedom and Breathwork Coach who spent most of her life hating her body and being at war with food. She went through a 12-year battle with bulimia and experienced many mental health diagnoses throughout her 20s. She started her healing journey working with a therapist and then continued her recovery as she moved abroad. She began the practice of breathwork about two years ago and has found a deep, trusting connection with her body she never knew was possible. She has healed deep sexual, childhood and worthiness wounds all through the power of her breath. She is a certified breathwork facilitator and food freedom coach. Brielle helps other woman heal their relationship with food, their body, and most importantly, themselves. Brielle suffered a 12-year battle with Bulimia and was ridden with anxiety and depression throughout her entire teenage years and through her 20s. It was not until she started doing deep internal work, working with therapists and coaches that she began her healing journey to complete food and body freedom. Brielle has had many supportive sisterhoods and coaches/healers along the way that guided her through the journey of which she is incredibly grateful. Breathwork has been a huge part of her life the last 2 years. Allowing her to access a level of trust and connection with her body she never knew was possible. Brielle’s purpose is to share her pain and guide others into their own healing with their own bodies and relationship with food now. Being able to give back and being grateful for her journey is what she loves the most. Brielle believes that worthiness is innate (it's not earned), you are enough. We hold onto these wounds in our bodies and need more than just mindset work to release them. In today’s episode I am sharing a conversation I had with my good friend, Karishma Donde. Karishma started Coaching with Karishma out of her love for helping others. Being a first-generation immigrant, she recognized that there were cultural constructs that were holding her back from living out her wildest dreams and now helps others to live their own empowered lives by breaking free of their own cultural standards, people pleasing, perfectionism, and high-performing anxiety through breathwork & coaching. Natural medicine and Ayurveda were a part of her cultural upbringing and she loved it so much that she would unofficially give her friends and other family members advice on living a healthier (antibiotics/prescription free life). This lifestyle and off-the-books mentoring taught her how to lead with her intuition and create individualized healing plans for her clients. Today I am sharing a conversation I had with Courtney Mericle. Courtney is a coach at heart, a serial entrepreneur and the Founder and CEO of the Happiness Endeavor. Her entrepreneurial journey started over 15 years ago but got a lot more real when she and her husband opened CrossFit Surge 10 years ago. Over the last 10 years they have learned that there is so much more to helping people become happy and healthy, and the workouts are often the easy part. They created the Total Shift Project to help their clients understand that the life, happiness and health they want is just a few simple SHIFTS away. They believe in a whole life, whole body health approach of mind, body, soul and business that starts from the inside out. Courtney has 2 amazing daughters who are 4 and 6. They are truly the reason she has become so passionate about helping the world shift and showing them that they can be strong, passionate and accomplish anything they want in this world, and do it without stress, struggle or overwhelm! After struggling with body image and disordered eating for 25 years Courtney was able to Shift into a place of love, recreating a relationship with her body, soul and mind. Courtney’s goal is to help women see that the parts of our life aren’t separate and that our nourishment, movement, feeling and focus all work together.
