Alana Lee and I met at The Portrait Masters Conference in Arizona and I'm so excited to introduce her to you.  She is an incredible photographer and artist and an amazing human.  Listen to her inspiring story of how she used her diagnosis of MS to learn how to become an award winning photographer. Alana is an internationally acclaimed and accredited photographer and digital artist. Working from her home studio in the countryside east of Toronto, Canada, Alana creates studio and on-location portraits, headshots, personal branding, and corporate headshot photography, as well as fantasy composite images, commercial and product images, fine art prints, and wall art. With a style that is sometimes described as dark, moody, and painterly Alana’s work is often inspired by the master painters and classic lighting setups. She is self-taught and has learned her craft through a combination of online tutorials, workshops, and in-person events at conferences. Her composite work often involves a blend of images she has photographed herself, stock images purchased from stock websites, and digital CGI elements. Alana also creates and sells digital assets such as digital backgrounds, overlays, textures, and other resources for creatives and other photographers. Alana enjoys sharing her knowledge through workshops and tutorials both online and in-person and is the founder of The Imaginators: a community of digital artists and photographers that share discussions and resources on photoshop, photo manipulation, digital art, business, tools or the trade, lighting, and editing techniques, social media, sales and marketing, educational resources, inspiration and networking opportunities. When not doing all things photography-related Alana enjoys spending time outdoors exploring nature and homesteading with her family on their small rural acreage. In today's conversation we get a sneak peak into Jayne Dion's recent series, including her "Trees of Mysteries" series, her "Toxic Garden" pastels and her "Fold in Time" graphite collection.  Set in California, Jayne lets us sit in at her private studio, as she shares her inspiration, her collection and her passion for creating.  Jayne shared with us that she sometimes sits silently for hours at a time, putting her creative thoughts together.  From that point of envisioning her design, she begins with her hands.  Jayne is self taught and I believe talents are limitless.  Starting at a young age, Jayne felt a kinship with the trees, and would often be found sketching quietly in and among them.  Her career as a muralist, lead to a position as a lead set designer.  Approximately 5 years ago she began exploring what she wanted to create for herself and her art has been unfolding and evolving ever since.  In my opinion, Jayne's art is a treat for the eyes, but there is a much deeper level to her creations.  Tune in for a conversation across the States and head to my on location page at to get links to all of Jayne's social media.  Enjoy! **Episode art was created by Jayne Dion and is part of her "Toxic Garden" series --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast.
