How can I keep a positive mindset when taking care of a growing puppy and my family? How can I have my dream dog when I work a full-time job? What do I actually have to do that will help me better show up for my dog and my loved ones? How do I stay sane and still have fun when I have so much to take care of?

These are just some of the big questions that leading dog expert, Courtney Green, explores in the Thank Dog It’s Friday Podcast.

This year has thrown us all for a loop so it's no better time to make a bucket list that you and your dog can do together. I've experienced a lot of loss this year so one thing I've done to tackle the grief is to be more intentional with my time. So instead of putting work first, I've been living in the moment and trying to do as many things on my bucket list as possible. I'm not going to lie, it's making the year so much sweeter which just goes to show how we experience 2020 is totally up to us. It's all perspective! I hope my bucket list inspires you to get out there and listen to your wild child.

However, our dogs have really had all of their dreams granted. Like a genie came down and gave them 247 access to us and now we’re about to leave and break their hearts. I've been struggling with keeping steady energy for years. I tend to be passive, a people-pleaser, a workaholic, and someone who constantly puts too much on my plate. So as you can imagine, I often feel drained of all my physical and mental energy. For years, I knew I needed to make a change, but honestly I put everyone else before myself so I pushed it off and didn't realize it's weight. Then I hit severe burnout and it left me no choice but to start to do something new each day to protect my energy. That way I could better show up for myself, my animals, and my relationships. That is when I realized that prioritizing everything but myself was my biggest energy drainer of all, because it messed with my head, self confidence, and pretty much everything else. After struggling with protecting my mental energy for my entire adult life, I finally feel like I'm figuring out tangible tools and habits that work for me. Honestly, since dedicating the little energy I had left into this, I've felt more energized, excited and less anxious about each day. So these are all of the habits I've adopted to add more energy to my life. They have been life changing for me, so I hope you see a shift as well. You likely wont start all of them at once, but choose a few that speak to you and continue adding more habits so that you feel energized and full of life each day. MORE SHOW NOTES COMING SOON!

It's really important for dog parents to be the first to recognize signs of sickness in their dog. So my recommendation to you is start getting in the habit of examining your dog regularly so you know the difference between a healthy dog and a sick dog.  If you check your dog regularly it will be easy to tell when something is off. So today you're going to learn how to examine your dog like a pro so that you are the first to detect when your dog is feeling blue.   Visit WWW.NEWDOGPARENTS.COM for my online experience for new dog parents :)

For links, names & more show notes visit: https://www.wolfycourt.com/24 Are you ready to stop complaining and start living with intention? I'm sure we can all agree 2020 is not starting out the way many of us were expecting. With all the chaos going on right now with the Corona Virus and pretty much everything else that is happening, I think it's best to look within to see what practices we're following to help keep us calm. I talk a lot about being a calm and assertive pack leader for your dog and others around you, so this episode is giving you the necessary tools to show up in that way. If you're complaining your life away, something tells me you aren't much of a leader. Let's change that! Most people spend 90% of their time on the problem and not the solution. Staying in that state is not only not productive, it also gives the issue time to intensify. Ignoring the problem just gives it time to magnify and grow into something harder to tackle. If you just do the easy things in life and you procrastinate the hard stuff, then life becomes hard. But if you do the hard things, life becomes easy because you're building those muscles and mental fitness is just as important as mental intelligence.  So it's really important that you protect your energy and be intentional with where it’s going. Intentionally put most of your energy towards the solution so that you can get out of your own way.

For more show notes (links, names, FREEBIES, etc) visit: http://www.wolfycourt.com/21 Today, I'm sharing my best gratitude habits and practices that can and should be implemented on a daily basis. Remember, how we spend our days ends up being how we live our life, so I chose to get really intentional about how I was going about each day. Once I found one habit that worked for me it all became easier to implement regularly … SPOILER ALERT.. it was #1 ;) I hope these 10 simple habits really help you add more gratitude to your life, which in turn will increase your happiness. Can I get a hell yeah!? 10 Ways To Feel Grateful Each Day Have some kind of signal or trigger that reminds you to practice gratitude. One example can be seeing a bird and then listing off what you’re grateful for. Start your morning with five things you’re grateful for. Do this while doing something you already naturally love. Post it notes and pretty graphics with reminders and affirmations around the house, office and car work great. When you’re feeling overwhelmed or stressed, name what part of the situation you are grateful for. If it’s a stressful day, go out of your way to compliment someone. If you feel ballsy spark up a conversation. Make a list of things that you’re grateful for that make you extremely happy.. like actually change your mood, happy. Pull that list out when you’re having a hard time getting into a grateful mood. "Grateful Minute"  reminder. Ask anyone around you when that alarm goes off what they are grateful for. Surround yourself with people who practice gratitude regularly. This includes your social media, entertainment, coworkers and friend groups. Call, text or connect with someone each day and remind them that you’re grateful for your relationship. Claim your new emotional home. Act like the card you were dealt was the one that you wanted all along. Gratitude is now the emotion you come home to (it's no longer stress, overwhelm, fear, anxiety, etc). Identify your anti-self versus best self personalities. Name the person who is grateful verses the person who always sees things with the glass half empty.

For more show notes (names, links, summaries), please visit https://www.wolfycourt.com/18  Now that I'm a grown ass adult, I'm starting to realize how much of an affect my childhood has had on me. Even though I love my upbringing and wouldn't change it for the world, I now recognize how much my parent's external words became my internal voice. So today we're chatting about how we can be a better communicator to preteens, teenagers and pretty much anyone who's going through a difficult season. I shine a light on vulnerable youth in this episode, so tune in to see how you can intentionally communicate with preteens and teenagers who are going through the foster care system, adoptions, abuse, neglect, depression and/or anxiety. The topic for this week has been foster care and adoption since I was recently on the Wife of the Party Podcast talking about my personal adoption experience. If you guys checked that out, you already know that I've played a huge role in raising my little sister. So when things got difficult for her I reached out to the only expert I knew, Raquel Perez, to see what she thinks I should do.  Raquel and I have been friends for 15 years and within months she'll officially be a social worker! We had a full blown amazing conversation that I so wish I recorded for you guys, but instead I took notes and shared my take of our chat. Conversations to have with partners or roomies that can help with bringing a dog along. How finances can make things messy when you have someone who spends too much or too little on the dog. Several house rules and safety tips that can be discussed with partners, roomies and guests. How to deal with helicopter moms, paranoid or anxious dog parents and/or dog parents who are too chill about important things.  What to do if your partner is struggling to connect with the dog. How to address who's responsible for taking care of the dog during the work day. How to give people grace who are struggling with the transition. Overthinking and pushing off decision making was the #1 thing that drained me of all of my energy last year. It’s what made me feel less present than I’ve ever felt, it made me anxious and stressed because I was overthinking way too many things (which drains so much mental energy) and it made me push off so many things in life and business simply because I let fear and being too passive get in my way. As you’ve heard me say many times, our energy speaks louder than our words and our actions to our dogs. So if I'm feeling distracted and I’m overthinking a decision over a long period of time I'm likely also feeling other feels like frustration, anxiety, helplessness, exhaustion.. All of those feelings are picked up by our dogs. So when were trying to be their pack leader, but we actually feel off then were sending mixed messages to our dogs.
