We hear about this idea of work-life balance. But it's kind of bullshit. It doesn't make sense.Nothing in our lives can be exact. For example, this amount of work, this amount of play, this amount of relationship is not all equal in energy. It doesn't work that way. This is life. We're in fluid. We're in motion constantly.I like the idea of work life harmony because we get to decide what things we're going to focus on and give our attention to then and now.I want you to think of five areas in your life, for example recreation, relationships, work, creative output, and mindfulness, spirituality. If none of those words light you up, remix them. Use this as a guidepost. Then I want you to think about how you can find more harmony in all of these areas.Let me know which ones you want to add a little bit more volume too. Which one you're going to give more attention.  Email me at hi@remixyourworld.comDM me over on InstagramJoin the Facebook GroupTake My Remix Your World Course See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Quick motivational mixdown that I wanted to talk to you today about.I had a great conversation in a class a few weeks ago. We were talking about this idea of being responsible and how that word can have so much weight, right?Responsibility. And what I like to look at is what that word is. I like to break it down into how am I able to respond. Responsibility, how am I able to respond? We have these moments in our lives. We have these conversations that happened, we have work responsibilities, all of these things that are requesting our attention and a lot of times what can happen is we choose to react rather than to respond.Over the next couple of weeks, I want you to pay attention to when somebody comes to you with something that might need feedback. Maybe something at work, a lover or relationship with your parents. Notice. Check in with yourself before you respond. I have a moment now to check, "Do I want to react to what they are saying or do I want to respond?"Responsible, being able to respond without judgment, aggression, anger, defensiveness. That's what I want you to practice.Just try it on everything that I bring to you. They're just merely clothes in the closet. Go to the closet and try this one on notice, are you normally in a place of reactivity or do you allow the space in between to really center yourself and then respond from a conscious space? This is your motivation mixdown and homework. Let me know what you think.Email me at hi@remixyourworld.comDM me over on InstagramJoin the Facebook GroupTake My Remix Your World Course See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

You may have heard Peter Napoli at one of his traveling BRÜT parties (NY, LA, SF and Chicago), where his pulsating beat reigns over packed dance floors and throngs of young men in gear. While this nightlife attraction has been a mainstay for years, Peter’s love of music actually began far earlier, growing up in a family of musicians in the boroughs of New York City.  Rhythm was a constant in the Napoli household. Peter’s dad is a well-known drummer and there was always a groove happening at home. That early exposure to the relationship between kick-drumming and ass-shaking propelled Peter to find a career in music beginning in Mexico City in 2009. Back home in NYC, the young firebrand honed his skills at Santos Party House, which escalated him to opportunities in Europe, North and South America.  As his sound evolved, Peter found inspiration in Deep House and Techno, but also the classic basslines of Frankie Knuckles and David Cole. This diversity is on display at his legendary Burning Man sets, and now at Voyage.  In its latest iteration, Napoli’s sound is an evolution from the stagnant circuit scene of decades past, to a future built on an array of percussion and an inclusive cast of talent and performers. Peter’s latest party brand, Voyage, is a newcomer to the scene. Its rhythm is the journey; a new venture for aficionados of House and Techno, and the Electronic music community.  Connect with Peterhttps://soundcloud.com/djpeternapoli  https://www.facebook.com/djpeternapoli/  https://www.instagram.com/djpeternapoli/  See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Do you have an unplugging practice?Think of the last time you completely disconnected from your devices and unplugged for a few hours.I like to unplug after long weekends of intense activity and energy. For example if i'm playing a few shows, going to circuit parties or attending festivals, those weekends can be really exhausting. Fun as hell yes, but can completely drain me. Great leaders don’t water down their message in order to make the tribe a bit bigger. Instead, they realize that a motivated, connected tribe in the midst of a movement is far more powerful than a larger group could ever be.” Seth Godin  One of my favorite books of all time is Seth Godin's Tribes. If you have followed me long enough musically, you know that I refer my loyal listeners as the Calagna Tribe of Seekers.I have always marched to the beat of my drum.As a kid, I didn't like rules and often would find the best way to break them possible when they were forced. As an artist, I still choose to follow my rhythm. Sometimes, I would say this has been my Achilles heel. I can't be placed in a box. Musically, I have a range and to be known as a specific type of DJ or music producer only doesn't fit the frequency of who I am.Having to learn to follow my path is what ultimately led me to build a tribe of seekers who not only understood my sound, vision, and mission. But could also resonate with the sound themselves. If you are a fan of my music, then you and I share a similar frequency. You want something different. You want something that doesn't sound like everyone else. You crave something deeper, something raw. You like music to take you somewhere. You are invested not only in the sound, but the story and emotion behind it. You aren't afraid to go beyond your comfort zone and stretch yourself because you trust that I will take you there. You and I share the same frequency. But here is the thing. If I didn't follow my heart, we wouldn't have connected. So, I want you to practice using this mantra in your life."Your vibe attracts your tribe." Regardless of what you do in your life, this mantra is potent.Pay attention to what energy you are putting forth in the world. What is your frequency like daily? Are you uplifted? Are you joyful?Do you love your life?Or Are you filled with negativity? Are you complaining more than appreciating?Tune inward and look at your vibe.Pay attention to who you are attracting in your life and notice if these are people that are in alignment with you, or are they people who are affecting your flow? Then take a look at your closest tribe members and notice if anyone is holding you back. If so, perhaps it's time to have a real talk conversation with them. Or maybe it's time to let them go.Your vibe attracts your tribe. And what you put out into the world, will come back to you.If you choose to put out positive vibes and walk into your day with love, gratitude, and joy then I guarantee, you will get that back. And the same goes for negativity. When you are faced with something that is off or out of flow Question it.What frequency am I playing that is attracting this into my life? How can I grow from this experience? What is life requesting that I do differently?Resources: CIJ Course  Private CoachingConnect with Me  Website   Instagram   Facebook   CIJ Course   Facebook Group See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Think about a time in your life where you had a breakdown. It doesn't have to be a huge breakdown. We experience breakdowns all the time. Breakdowns in communication, breakdowns in ideas, breakdowns in gear and technology, and of course emotional breakdowns.  Can you think about a time when you recently had one? How did you deal with it?   As a music producer, I love adding new elements to my breakdowns and having something completely different happen after the drop.   As a coach, it's also the same. I help people thru their life transitions. We strip down to the basics, add new elements and create new rituals and behaviors that allow them to breakthrough the area that was once sticky for them.   Have a listen to the podcast and let me know about your experience. Can you identify the story that you are running in your head about this change?Often these stories start with the sentence I can't; I don't know how I wish I could, and why is this happening to me?If you take a more in-depth look at those stories, they are putting you in a frequency of victim consciousness and are keeping you in a state of disempowerment. What would it look like if you remixed those "why is this happening to me" questions into "how can I grow from this" or "what is my life asking I do differently." These insightful questions put you in a much higher frequency to first accept the change that is happening and then responds with grace and gratitude instead of a poor me attitude.  In week 4 of my CIJ class, we dive into penetrating questions; how we can use them in our daily lives to not only connect with other people more intently but the items offer us wisdom and guidance when change can feel so scary.  Have you ever had a chance to witness Buddhist monks make a sand mandala? The amount of time, presence, patience and mindfulness that goes into each grain of painted and takes days to create. These sacred visuals are representations of the vast universe. Because of the teachings of impermanence, they destroy the Mandala once they have finished. They believe that things do not die, but they merely transform. It is a practice of non-attachment.  It's quite mesmerizing, and if you get a chance to see it in person, I highly recommend it.  Meditate on this concept this week. Think of the situations in your life that are changing and see if you can find a little more ease into letting go. Knowing that nothing ever dies, it merely transforms. ResourcesSand mandala: Tibetan Buddhist ritualConnect with Me   Website    Instagram    Facebook    CIJ Course    Facebook Group See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

If you've been around Miami's club scene, you know Alan T. He's flashy, loud, aggressive, charming, and funny all at the same time. He has to be. He deals with throngs of people trying to get into some of the city's brightest hot spots. He has to hear, "But I know so-and-so, and he told me I was on the list!" about a hundred times every night. So you can't blame him for being curt with patrons. However, unlike the French doormen that litter Miami Beach's nightclubs, Alan T puts on a show, sometimes with a loudspeaker to amplify the insults he throws at people. Currently, he works for Space on Saturdays, but he's been around, working the doors for spots such as Pawn Shop Lounge and Nocturnal. In addition to being a doorman, Alan T. is also a house-music vocalist (he has the Discogs page to prove it) and holds a master's in Architecture from Columbia University. He's a nightlife renaissance man. Still, Alan T's most exceptional talent is making the door at Space more interesting. You will love this episode because we will strip off Alan's mask and we got real and had a sweet, loving, friendly conversation as if we just picked up the phone and just chatted. Brooklyn native Kimberly Davis, the only child to Carol Jean Davis, is embracing her family heritage. It was her late mother – a singer for such elite Motown creatives as Smokey Robinson – who introduced the little girl to music. Even her father was a musician, thanks to his trusty saxophone. Kimberly’s home was the perfect garden in which to grow a giant talent. In her own words: “I’ve been singing since I could talk. Growing up in a musical household, you can’t help but love and appreciate all types of music.” She eagerly got involved in anything and everything musical, from elementary school to her attendance at the prestigious LaGuardia High School of Music and the Arts. So the school that inspired the movie, ”Fame,” nurtured Kimberly’s unmistakable talent as well. It was there that she joined an all-girl group -- called initially “Petite” and later changed to “Ex-Girlfriend” -- managed by Full Force. Sensing her potential and feeling restricted within an age group, Kimberly chose to push forward as a solo artist. Her life’s decision came just in time before she also became the mother to her only child, Jamel Davis. Even while working a 9 to 5 office job, Kimberly avidly pursued her burning passion for singing. That exact, unswerving commitment helped her transition herself to a full-time gig as a vocalist. From her work on soundtracks and jingles, and with her background of singing and touring, Kimberly kept turning her dreams into reality with full force! Right out of the gate, her first single –- “Get Up” from D1 Music –- reached #12 on the Billboard Dance Club Charts. Her next single, “Twist of Love,” built on that first success. It was played by over 200 radio stations, debuting at #41 on Billboard’s Hot Club Play Charts. After just a few weeks, it had skyrocketed up to #9 where it remained for four weeks more. But as they say, third time’s the charm! Her single, “With You,” landed her the #4 spot on the Billboard Dance Club Charts. Most recently, Kimberly’s unique vocal prowess was featured for the world by Tony Moran and Nile Rogers in “My Fire.” Kimberly hopes this latest song -- already zooming up the charts -- will spawn a slew of exciting remixes and many more new songs beyond. She hopes to share her great fire on television, at Gay Pride parades and as many festivals as possible.Kimberly Davis is now lead singer for the famous disco band, “CHIC” featuring Nile Rodgers. Today she glows under that spotlight throughout the world in performances-by-invitation. Across North America, South America, Europe, Asia, the UK and even “down under,” audiences on every continent respond to Kimberly’s exceptional vocal prowess. Across every culture, people can feel the heart, soul, and passion she always infuses into her music.Kimberly is striving to create a legacy that will forever honor her music and voice as the once little girl who sang her face off every chance she got, and who was always humble but stayed fierce. She wants her fans to feel nothing but euphoria when they hear her sing … because there's nothing like a dance floor to help everyone forget the drama of daily life. Kimberly’s journey has been rewarding, but her pursuit of more growth continues unquenched. Up next? “More and more music,” she says. “I've sung since I could talk. I’m not stopping anytime soon!”In this episode you will discover: Kimberly's love for music as a kid in Brooklyn The first song she can remember singingRecounting her childhood memories around musicHer defining moment, when she decided that this is it!Kimberly's Life Remix; sharing her personal and career's challenges and triumpsResources: #21 How To Remix Your Goal Setting ProcessCIJ Course  Private CoachingConnect with KimberlyWebsiteFacebookInstagramSpotifyConnect with Me  Website   Instagram   Facebook   CIJ Course   Facebook Group See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Get the FREE Goal E Book HereDo you struggle with completing goals? Do you start out the new year with such excitement and then you lose steam by the second week? Do you make a list of resolutions only to come up short and beat yourself up after not making it happen? If you do, then boy oh boy, I can help you!As a creative artist and entrepreneur, I have struggled many times with focus and reaching deadlines. I'm a dreamer and have big visions, I see things in pictures, diagrams, and circles. I love this about myself but it often affected my progress and completion. I had to find a better way. I couldn't be the only creative person out there who has this same struggle. When I became a Coach, so much had to shift. I couldn't live in what I call "artist" time anymore. I had deadlines, clients, classes and meetings. I had to create systems that would help me stay focused and stay on track with my goals and projects. One of the workshops I developed was a Goal Digging Workshop. I designed a workshop that would help people break down one big goal so that they could see the process and really get defined and focused. I still do these exercises with my clients and students. Now, i'm offering part of this workshop in an E-Book for free for you. Free! How epic is that? All you have to do is click on the link above, download the E-Book, print it out or grab a notebook or journal, carve out about 30-45 minutes and dive in.It's powerful and will help you get clear, get focused and get it done. I've had many students breakthrough their blocks around goal setting doing this work and I know you will find results as well. When you do, let me know. I'd love to hear about your progress. And if you are looking to go a little deeper then you and I can discuss one on one coaching or my CIJ class. Both may be an option for you. Sydney Blu has established herself as one of the top electronic producers and DJs in the world. With an unbridled passion for live performance, music production, and all-around artistic creativity, Sydney has risen herself to the pinnacle of the electronic music industry.  A proudly Canadian artist, Sydney’s success is largely attributed to her relentless touring schedule which she’s upheld for several years. In 2009, Sydney Blu founded her own imprint, Blu Music, on the principle of authentic, dancefloor-rich house and techno.  On top of that, Sydney has released music on some of the most recognized labels in the industry including Mau5trap, Toolroom, Kinetika, Material Series, KMS Records, VIVa Music, and more. Her release "Give It Up For Me" on Mau5trap Recordings was one of Beatport’s highest selling songs, earning Sydney the rank of first female electronic music producer to have a top 10 hit on the platform.  This year marked another milestone for the top-selling electronic artist, as she has currently hit Top 20 on the Beatport Tech House chart with her new single “Mind Games” on Hot Since 82’s Knee Deep in Sound. The song also was the top selling track on the labels Amsterdam Dance Event sampler making Sydney shine once again. This year, she released a run of solid releases on Roger Sanchez's Undr the Rdr, Gene Farris’s Farris Wheel Recordings, and was remixed by Italian techno heavy weight Pirupa. Looking forward, expect releases from Sydney Blu under Joeski's Maya Recordings and many more.  Looking to Remix Your Meditation Practice? Text meditatenow to 44222 Highlights of this episode 1. Where it all started for Sydney and her love of music 2. Releasing music on the industry’s hottest labels  3. I have a 10-minute powerful pause meditation that is on the mindful mixtape. If you want me to send that to you, text the words "meditatenow" to 44222 and I'll send that over to you now. What do you do when you are stuck in a creative rut and feel blocked? As creatives and artists, we often find these moments in our lives where we are full of inspiration and ideas that scream for our attention. It's almost as if we are compelled to create. There have been times in my life that I am so cold to create something that I literally have to stop everything to get the idea out. It's like this force that comes over for me. Other times I feel uninspired and unmotivated to create anything. This is where the pause button comes in. I have found that:If I force things and try and make the muse appear, my projects feel off and forced. I have learned that by pausing on the project to gain some perspective actually serves the project in the long run. I personally, like to take walks, get outside and connect with nature. I have the luxury of a flexible schedule that allows me to do so and I happen to live in one of the most beautiful places on earth, Colorado. BUT, I have deadlines too and sometimes I can't break away for a few hours. You can pause for only10 minutes and it can be so helpful. Now, when I say a 10-minute break, I mean really break!  Walk away from the project and pause. I'm a fan of meditation moments during my day to connect with myself and then I can come back to the project feeling refreshed instead of depleted. I know you have 10 minutes in your day to pause. Your creative projects will thank you for it. For those of you who are saying "but Alyson, I'm not working on creative projects" The pause button can work for you as well. Chances are something is going on in your work or personal life that makes you feel a bit challenged or uninspired, you too can rock the pause button, take a moment to recenter and come back to the mix. That's one of the things that works for me.How do you like to pause? What are some of your favorite ways to deal with creative blocks?Connect with AlysonWebsiteFacebookCIJourneyFacebook Group See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Real Talk with House Music legend, Ralphi Rosario on success, music and DJing.http://ralphirosario.com/DJ PRODUCER/GRAMMY NOMINEE RALPHI ROSARIO Because of his love for music and his need to share it with others, Ralphi Rosario began spinning records for friends at many private events early in his career. Almost a quarter of a century later, he still spins for legions of fans at massive events/Festivals around the globe in the US, Spain, Brazil, Portugal, Canada, and others. His acumen as a DJ for the dance floor is undeniable. Shortly after his start as a DJ, Ralphi created dance/house music history as a member of the world renowned Chicago HOT MIX FIVE. The HOT MIX FIVE has received legendary status, worldwide. Radio Station WBMX was on its way to giving birth to the House music pioneers of Chicago. Ralphi delivered his DJ mix magic to the masses over the airwaves for over a decade from 1980-1994. Add to this his original production work and remixing talents and the music industry had a recipe for a legend in the making. To this day, he maintains a DJ residency in his hometown Chicago. Many believe legendary status was achieved when Ralphi’s “You Used to Hold Me” crossover hit became an overnight house music classic.
