Hey, Hey Fightin' Podcast listeners. Bringing your attention to another LSU Sports podcast, Tigers Win, which launches Season 2 today with LSU Soccer head coach Sian Hudson. Tigers Win is where we talk to LSU's athletes, former athletes, coaches, staffers, and others about winning, excellence, and championship habits, and you can subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or anywhere you find podcasts. Back Sunday with a Hurry Up.  Our first guest on season 2 of Tigers Win is LSU Soccer head coach Sian Hudson. In just her second season, Coach Hudson has led the Tigers to a 7-0 start, a No. 6 national ranking, and a school record 10 consecutive victories dating back to the spring. The key to success? Belief. Belief brought her to LSU. Belief carried the team through a eight-game winless streak to start her time in Baton Rouge. Belief kept them bought into a new system of fluid possession when things didn't click at first. And belief has them playing better soccer than just about anybody in the country. We spoke on Tuesday, September 14 ahead of a Friday, September 17 matchup with Mississippi State to start SEC play. After that conversation, you'll hear the outro music, followed by our conversation from September of 2020, when the Tigers were set to start a COVID-delayed SEC-only fall schedule. I added it as a bonus segment because we referenced it so often in this episode, and because it gives great perspective on how Coach Hudson's vision has turned into reality. Show Notes: Show Notes: (0:00) - Intro (3:32) - Welcome (5:04) - Selling the Vision (6:27) - Building a Website (11:27) - Goal Setting (13:12) - Belief and Chemistry (16:13) - Turning Point (19:34) - Springboard (22:39) - Training Sessions (24:42) - Goal Scoring (26:24) - Identity (28:29) - Preparation (31:21) - Tactics (33:25) - Standards (35:10) - Aesthetics (37:31) - Revenge About Tigers Win:  Tigers Win is a podcast about excellence. Each episode, we'll pick the brains of LSU coaches, student athletes, staff members, or alumni about the routines, habits, tools, mindsets, and attributes they've utilized to excel in their crafts. Hundreds of champions walk the stately oaks and broad magnolias of the Ole War Skule every year. This is your chance to get inside the mind of world class performers, learn what makes them elite, and how you can apply their lessons to your life and develop your own winning mentality. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/heyfightinpodcast/message

That was exactly as expected – just the complete opposite.  Cody and Jacob hop off the bus and grab a seat on the bench to discuss LSU's 38-27 loss to UCLA. Overall, we rate the Tigers' trip to Hollywood a box office disappointment. Two thumbs down, would not recommend.  There's some attempt to set aside emotion and look for logical explanations, but much like the Tigers in the Rose Bowl, we weren't always successful. Still, we look at what went wrong – struggles in the running game, issues against Cover 0, and defensive breakdowns and miscues – and look for ways the ship can be righted in the weeks ahead.  Back Tuesday with a regularly recorded episode – and hopefully more answers than questions.  --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/heyfightinpodcast/message

There's more to Andre Carter than meets the eye. And plenty meets the eye. He's not all that far removed from an NFL career in which he registered 80.5 career sacks, and just by looking at him, you'd like his chances to suit up on Sundays this fall and get a sack or two off the edge. But Carter matches physical prowess with mental acuity. He's sharp, energetic, and curious – a language-learning pianist who studied Taekwondo in childhood and listens to stand-up comedy on long road trips. Meet Jake Peetz.   He's got ties to Joe Brady but plenty of his own ideas.   He's a Nebraska boy whose journey to LSU has taken him all over the world of sports: NBA strength and conditioning coach, NFL assistant coach, and now tasked with the role to bring the Tigers' offense back to 2019's heights.   Peetz sat down with LSU's Cody Worsham and a number of fans and ticket holders for a live podcast taping at the end of February to take questions and talk ball.    Outline:   1:13 - Getting settled in Baton Rouge  2:22 - Offensive philosophy  4:15 - LSU's loaded quarterbacks room  6:00 - Recruiting as relationship building  8:51 - How he still carries his Nebraska roots everywhere he goes  12:53 - College World Series memories   14:18 - Red zone offense  17:34 - Similarities and differences from Joe Brady's system  20:30 - How training NBA athletes helped him transition to football coaching  23:14 - Daring to Serve  26:14 - Development of LSU's wide receivers   27:30 - Offensive line experience and empty sets  28:42 - Raising six kids    --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/heyfightinpodcast/message

We kick off Season 3 of Hey Fightin' Podcast with the legendary No. 3 himself. Kevin Faulk parlayed an All-American, record-setting career at LSU into a 13-year NFL career with the New England Patriots, where he played in five Super Bowls and won three. We sat down with Faulk ahead of a Super Bowl which will feature six former Tigers and a quarterback Faulk knows better than most. After that conversation, we revisit a 2019 chat with Justin Jefferson, who is up for Rookie of the Year honors this weekend. It's a refreshing look back to a time when Jefferson was on the verge of a breakout few have ever matched -- from a two-star who some thought was a walk-on to a national champion and record-setting NFL rookie. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/heyfightinpodcast/message

A different flavor this week for The Hurry Up. I hopped on Zoom right after the game and took questions to break down LSU's 37-34 win over Florida. The result was a less analytical approach to the game and a more emotional, raw conversation about joy and fandom and grit and culture.  But we did talk Cade York's 57-yard game-winner, Max Johnson's moxie, the freshmen playing like vets, and, yes, The Shoe.  With guest appearances from the Away Game Press Box, Andrew Lopez of ESPN.com, Van Lathan of The Ringer, and, best of all, some loyal listeners. (Man, I really hope I edited out all the stuff I was supposed to.) --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/heyfightinpodcast/message
