We coach a lot of people who have trouble making decisions. Here’s what we’ve noticed: People get bogged down by weighing the morality of their options. But not every decision carries a moral weight. Sometimes you’re not choosing between a good and an evil, but rather between two goods. In this episode, we’ll teach you how to analyze the kinds of decisions you’re making, which will save you time and worry!   GET THE DAILY SEVEN JOURNAL! If you want to be happy, you need self-awareness. The saints talk about this a lot and with good reason! Growing in virtue and holiness requires you to be aware of the way you think and act. In this episode, we introduce you to a system we’ve been using with our clients. It involves five levels of awareness that will help you: - Become more virtuous. - Discern and do the will of God. - Purge sin from your life. - Find freedom in humility. - Keep track of your own personal growth.   GET THE DAILY SEVEN JOURNAL! “Burn the boats” is a common phrase in the coaching world. It comes from the story of conquistador Hernán Cortés burning his ships in order to prevent his men from abandoning their quest to conquer Mexico. The idea is that once you make a decision, you go all in and never look back. Sounds inspiring, right? But here’s the catch: “Burning the boats” isn’t always a prudent decision. In this episode we’ll teach you how to decide whether to “burn the boats” when it comes to your personal growth.   GET THE DAILY SEVEN JOURNAL! We live in a world where people are quick to say that certain events (and even life itself) are meaningless. But Viktor Frankl, the famous psychiatrist, and Holocaust survivor believed every human has the capacity to find meaning in life. And yet, if you go looking for meaning in things you can’t control, you can end up deeply bitter or depressed. In this episode we discuss our responsibility for finding meaning in our lives and how to start seeking it, using insights from Frankl’s book “Man’s Search for Meaning.”   GET THE DAILY SEVEN JOURNAL! When you set a worthy goal for yourself, you’re going to experience fear. But there’s no need to worry. Every one of us has a way we try to avoid or change an emotion we don’t want to feel. This is called buffering. Spoiler alert: It doesn’t work. Nobody wants to be brainwashed. As we go about our normal everyday lives, we like to think we’re invulnerable to it. But the truth is, we all have the potential to be brainwashed. Wouldn’t it be great if we could just think positive thoughts and make all our problems go away? Now don’t get us wrong: You are called to think about what is true, noble, and praiseworthy (see Philippians 4:8). But that doesn’t mean you’re supposed to whitewash your outlook. This doesn’t help because you won’t be open to the ways God can bring deep healing and profound transformation into your life. In this episode, we’ll explain how the Catholic approach to positive thinking can lead to true change for the better.   THE DAILY SEVEN JOURNAL by Metanoia Catholic: This interactive journal will help you transform your life from the inside out by teaching you how to grow in gratitude, set healthy goals, and gain mastery over your thoughts.

There is something in us as humans that seeks a battle to fight. We each have a specific role to play in the Church militant, and a specific job in bringing about God's glory. but when we don't know our unique purpose, when we don't know the battle to which God has called us, too often we create our own meaningless skirmishes that keep us fixed in vice and spending our time critiquing everyone else but ourselves. When we can discover and live the true purpose fo which we've been created, we will also enter the battle that we were destined to fight (and by God's grace, win!) for all eternity--and we will willingly lay down our lives for it.
