Heather McDermott is a contemporary jeweller based in Glasgow and is on a mission to showcase makers from across Scotland on her podcast. Growing up on the Isle of Skye, she is accustomed to working in an isolated setting, so being part of a wider community of makers is really important to her. Heather has met makers from all types of industries throughout the years, from textiles, jewellery, ceramics and metalwork. Each one with unique stories to be heard. Scotland in particular has such a diverse range of crafts people from Orkney to Glasgow and Edinburgh to Stornaway all of whom work from a variety of workshops, sheds and spare rooms. It is here that Heather explores what inspires these people, where they work from and how they got there. The podcast was originally supposed to be accompanied with a studio visit however due to the Corona virus Heather has proceeded with interviewing her guests remotely and still manages to gett a sense of how these makers work.
