The Content 10x Podcast
Maximize the return from every piece of content that you create! This podcast will teach you how to repurpose your content like a pro.
Whether you're a podcaster, blogger or video content creator - creating great content is never easy. Neither is keeping up with the ever growing array of social media
“What is the one best type of content to repurpose?” I get asked that a lot whenever I do Q&As or podcast interviews, or just generally when I enter into a discussion about content repurposing. The truth is, every type of content has its merits and there are so many ways to repurpose. Plus, like many things in life, what is “best” for one person/business is not necessarily “best” for someone else. There isn’t a “best” type of content for repurposing – repurposing can be very effective regardless of the type of content you’re working with…it’s more about your strategy and approach. Nonetheless, I do still have an answer to the question too! In this week's episode of The Content 10x Podcast find out about: What I believe the best type of content is for repurposing The four things I think matter more than the type of content you repurpose How to decide what the best type of content is for you and your audience Important Links & Mentions: My book: Content 10x: More Content, Less Time, Maximum Results (https://www.content10x.com/book) Our LinkedIn 10x service (https://www.content10x.com/linkedin10x) To read the blog post, click here. I talk about so many things related to content marketing in this podcast, I can’t quite believe I have never recorded an episode that focuses on influencer marketing… I think that has something to do with the associations many of us have with the word ‘influencer’. The thing is, influencer marketing gets a bad rap, and there are few people who understand this world better than Neal Schaffer. Neal is one of the most respected figures in social media marketing and the author of the brilliant book, The Age of Influence. Neal joined me in this episode of the podcast to explain what so many people get wrong about influencers, how businesses of all shapes and sizes can develop a better influencer strategy, and to share some insights from his amazing book, The Age of Influence. Whether it’s Jimmy Fallon’s hashtag challenges or Jimmy Kimmel’s Mean Tweets, these household names have mastered the process of involving their audience in their content creation. You might not get the millions of views and worldwide trending status that these two get (although you never know!), but that doesn’t mean it’s a waste of time. In fact, if you can take some lessons from the two Jimmys and how they use audience participation to curate some amazing content, you might see some of the best results yet from your content. LinkedIn might have once been an online CV and recruiting platform, but it’s changed completely since its first few years. Not many LinkedIn experts have been around since those early days, but Mr LinkedIn himself – Mark Williams – has. Paid traffic is a great investment if you’re looking to build awareness, reach new people, and make some sales… but people often make a critical mistake when they start to invest in paid traffic. Without a coordinated investment in content, you risk not making an impact on the vast majority of people your ad is served to. We’re not machines – we do our due diligence and need social proof before we do anything an ad tells us to. So, in this episode of the podcast, I’m exploring why people so often get the balance wrong when investing in their paid traffic and content, why it’s important to get it right, and share ways you can correct this classic mistake! Find out about: What I mean by “paid traffic” (its benefits and its limits) Why businesses risk wasting their money if they take the wrong approach with paid traffic How investing in content at the same time as paid traffic can deliver better results Important Links & Mentions LinkedIn 10x (https://www.content10x.com/linkedin10x) What Everyone Needs to Know About LinkedIn Ads with AJ Wilcox (https://www.content10x.com/146) To watch the video, or read the blog post, click here (https://www.content10x.com/the-problem-with-investing-in-paid-traffic/).

Social media has so many positives. But one thing that’s true across almost every platform is that the content we work hard to create doesn’t last very long. That’s why content repurposing is so important – because it gives the content you create a longer shelf life – but there are other ways you can showcase your highlights and best moments using features on the platforms themselves. Every platform is different, but they all have features you can use to highlight content you’ve created and add value to your profile. In this episode of the podcast, I break down how four of the major social platforms let you highlight your content. I also share lots of ideas to inspire you if you’re not sure what to start with. We will be living in the changed world caused by coronavirus for a long time, but how on earth are people whose careers rely on big public events supposed to adapt to a socially distant world? Speaking is one of the hardest-hit industries by the pandemic, but some shining lights from the profession are doing an amazing job of adapting to the new normal. One of the best examples of this is Erin King, who joins me in this episode of The Content 10x Podcast to share the story of how she created an online course out of her keynote speech. The customer journey has changed a lot in recent years. It now often starts on social media, usually on mobile, with bitesize, snackable content…and eventually we want people to consume our longer form content and start buying from us. Which leads me to the delicious metaphor this week’s episode is based on. Listen in to learn how your customer journey can be designed just like a 7 course meal and how every course in the meal is there to suit different appetites and hunger levels. As the way we browse the internet and consume content has changed, away from desktops and TVs to mobiles and social media, the traditional customer journey has changed too. Businesses that aren’t shifting their focus to the preferences of mobile users and short form content are leaving behind the majority of their audience. The numbers don’t lie – more people than ever use mobile as their primary means of accessing the internet. How can we adapt to this new customer journey and what does it look like for both businesses and customers? The answer lies in content repurposing – and definitely not in abandoning long-form content! In this episode, I explain: Why you should think about the content journey your audience go on How content repurposing can help you create a great customer journey, starting with short-form content on mobile People won’t find your long form content, you need to find them first and have a plan to migrate them to it Important Links & Mentions: Digital 2020 Report (https://wearesocial.com/digital-2020) How To Spend Quality Time With Your Audience (https://www.content10x.com/how-to-spend-quality-time-with-your-audience/) The Content Repurposing Mindset (https://www.content10x.com/the-content-repurposing-mindset/) How to Turn Your Blog Post into a Multimedia Experience (https://www.content10x.com/blog-post-multimedia-experience/) Best Of Social Media Content Repurposing Tips (https://www.content10x.com/best-of-social-media-content-repurposing-tips/) To read the blog post and check out a video trailer of the episode, go to Content10x.com/134 (https://www.content10x.com/134)

Businesses are struggling right now – a pandemic is not something anyone can truly prepare for – but traditionally offline businesses are struggling most. For some, finding new ways to monetize their services and content in the digital space might come naturally. For others, it might feel pretty alien. Not every business can pivot to digital content, but you’d be surprised at how many are able to. Restaurants and bars are setting up delivery services and sharing the news on social media. Personal trainers are delivering video sessions. Museums are conducting tours online. These are trying times, but they are inevitably bringing out creative solutions. Ah, case studies – one of the most tried and tested marketing tools at any business’ disposal. Oh, case studies – one of the most tired and testing marketing tools when used incorrectly. With a bit of repurposing magic, you can turn a stuffy old corporate nightmare into a jargon-busting, jaw-dropping, crowd-pleasing piece of storytelling. Okay, that might be overdoing it slightly, but you can definitely make your case studies more effective, compelling, and long-lasting with a repurposing mindset. Whether you’re sitting on a stack of old case studies or you’ve never written one before, I can show you how to energize them and make them go further with content repurposing. What do you do after you’ve finished watching a great TV show? Go and find more content related to it, of course! This is why so many TV and radio shows offer companion content – live content that you publish immediately after publishing your core content. All the best TV shows are doing it and have been for years. Even reaction phone-ins on sports radio stations are a kind of companion content, and they’re older than old! We’ve been surrounded by companion content for decades already, but digital content creators have yet to really catch on to this concept. I think that’s going to change very soon, and I’ve got three ideas that you can use to start creating companion content today. But have you ever heard of a content repurposing mindset?
