Coffee Talk Topic: Easter On The Mind This episode honors the resurrection of Christ Jesus as we have Easter on The Mind! This week represents the holiest of weeks when more than 2000 years ago, God’s promises to redeem us through a Messiah were fulfilled.
Coffee Talk Topic: Unplanned and Forgiven This show's coffee talk topic honors the millions of children who’s lives were lost to abortion, and celebrates the forgiveness Christ offers to those you’ve made that decision or participated in that decision with disastrous, remorseful, life altering results. It also honors the new new movie about abortion, Unplanned, as we replay two of our most powerful interviews on the subject of abortion.
Coffee Talk Topic: Reclaimed. This episode honors marriages reclaimed through the love and forgiveness of Christ. Coffee Talk Topic: Restoration This episode explores Restoration that can only come from the love of God in the face of life’s pains that show up in so many different circumstances in our lives. Host Brandee Nielsen says "we’ll talk about two of those circumstances in two powerful interviews that exemplify the power of God’s promise, as told in 1 Peter 5:10. "And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast." Featured Guest No 1: Kennesha Buycks Kennesha is a first-time author of her debut book, Restoration House. This is also the name of her company, and take on the restoration that happens when we come face-to-face with our journey. Featured Guest No 2: Lisa Feigel Lisa describes herself as a small town girl from Racine Wisconsin with a deep passion for helping others change their lives. She's an entrepreneur at heart who owns and operates three businesses and has raised six children. Brandee says "one of my favorite things about Lisa is the way she described herself when I read her background for our interview. She wrote "my professional experiences aren't necessarily made with a college education, or degrees or even titles. I haven't written any books. I don't have any major accomplishments as I have read about the guests on your show. But I have no doubt that my life is always in the making of a great story." Lisa shares about God restoring her life after enduring decades of spousal abuse.
Coffee Talk Topic: Responding to the Holy Spirit This episode's coffee talk topic encompasses unexpected blessings when responding to the Holy Spirit. Especially when He whispers in times of extreme challenge or unlikely circumstances. Neither of which are challenging or unlikely to God but orchestrated by Him. Featured are two powerful interviews given by two very brave women who’ve overcome extraordinary life challenges. Both include painful and critical childhood surgeries that would change their lives forever. Justine joins Christian Coffee Talk to chat about overcoming grief and how we can empower ourselves to overcome any odds through faith, and by responding to the Holy Spirit. Featured Guest No 2: Barbara Marlowe Barbara Marlowe is an author and marketing and public relations professional. She served on several boards for nonprofits and is a current member of the University Hospital's, Rainbow Babies and Children's Leadership Council. Barbara is also president of the Iraqi Children's Foundation who joins Christian Coffee Talk to share a profoundly inspirational story about her journey with Teeba Furat Marlowe, who was burned and disfigured by a roadside bombing in Iraq when she was just 19 months old. Brandee Nielsen says "Barbara's story exemplifies the epitome of responding to the Holy Spirit. Teeba's is a story that most of us couldn't possibly imagine in our lifetimes. But its a story of faith overcoming improbability, which is something that we all need to hear." Coffee Talk Topic: How to be a Guilt Slayer A guilt slayer puts on the armor of God when guilt from their past threatens their peace and purpose in Christ. Host Brandee Nielsen says “get a pen and paper to write down the wisdom nuggets you’ll gain from today’s interview. We’ll dive deep into the subject of how the armor of God protects us from the schemes of the enemy to inflict guilt. Specifically about guilt that comes with circumstances surrounding the loss of a child due to abortion, miscarriage, intrapartum death, and more. But this message isn’t just for women. Guilt does not discriminate, and the armor of God will help any woman or man to become a guilt slayer.” Featured Guilt Slayer: Keri Kitchen Besides being a guilt slayer, Keri is a licensed clinical counselor and former youth pastor. She’s a wife and mom of three little boys on earth, and one little girl in heaven. Her passion is to help women overcome anxiety and depression by putting on the spiritual armor of God. As a member of Christian Coffee Talk for Women, Keri had a burning desire to share her story about how after losing her baby, God helped her discover that she was under heavy spiritual attack. Keri now ministers to Christian women through Everyday Incredible. Essentially, teaching them how to become guilt slayers! Coffee Talk Topic: Redefining Happiness Today’s Coffee Talk Topic challenges us to redefine happiness, as well as to put overwhelmed in its place. What a great way to start a new year! “It’s great to be back to kick off a brand new season of coffee talk topics; and welcome an extended audience as we join Cornerstone Christian Radio, broadcasting the foundations of faith around the world, from Blackpool England! Now that brings much happiness to our new season! In addition to the powerful messages our featured guests will share on today’s show, it brings me much happiness to recount the history of Christian Coffee Talk for our new listeners, and share all of Psalm 119 to recharge and realign our steps in 2019 with His decrees.” Featured Guest No 1: Alli Worthington Alli Worthington is an author, speaker, business coach and entrepreneur. Her goal is to help women live the life they were created to live and help small business owners; ministries and Fortune 500 companies to be more successful. Alli joins us to talk about her new book, The Year of Living Happy, Finding Contentment and Connection in a Crazy World! Alli says “with this new book, God gave me the word happy. At first, I thought it was silly because I thought God doesn’t allow us to be happy. But He kept putting it on my heart, so I spent a year of my life studying what scripture tells us about happiness. Many of us grow up in a church culture that says to know joy is to be Holy in the Lord, but happiness is fleeting. Through my research in scripture, I found that there’s no distinction between joy and happiness.” Featured Guest No 2: Kay Wyma Kay Wills Wyma is a former White House staffer, an international banker, an entrepreneur, and a mom of five! She’s an author who writes about seeing beyond life’s pressures to navigate life and thrive together. Kay has published three books and has been featured on the Today Show, CNN, focus on the family, and now Christian Coffee Talk. Kay joins us today to talk about her latest book called; Not the Boss of Us. Putting Overwhelmed in its Place in a Do All, Be All, World. If we can learn to put overwhelmed in its place, we can surely find happiness during, and at the end of the process! Coffee Talk Topic: Defiant Joy This episode's coffee talk topic explores the meaning of Defiant Joy as explained by Author, Stasi Eldredge. Stasi says that “joy has nothing to do with happiness because joy is a completely different substance than happiness. Joy is the fruit of the spirit, and God calls us to rejoice, always. So if we’re just singing and skipping around the garden all day, then we're living in denial over the pain that sometimes comes to our lives.” Host Brandee Nielsen says "I am so excited for you to hear the rest of what Stasi has to say! Be sure to fetch a pen and notepad because there are some incredible, quotable nuggets of wisdom offered by Stacy that you do not want to miss! Coffee Talk Topic: Making Lasting Connections with Your Kids This episode’s coffee talk topic encourages parents to make lasting connections with their kids by being a Read Aloud family! Deuteronomy 6:5-10 (NIV) tells parents to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates." Featured Guest: Sarah Mackenzie Sarah Mackenzie is an author, speaker and podcast host. On the immensely popular Read-Aloud Revival podcast, Sarah helps parents all over the world make meaningful, lasting connections with their kids through books. Sara lives in the Northwest with her husband Andrew, and homeschools their six kids. Mackenzie says "I started writing the book thinking it was sort of a Manifesto on reading aloud. As soon as I started writing it I realize that that's not really what it was about. It was more of a call to connecting with our kids. While I knew that the sharing of stories with our kids is valuable, I realized the most valuable thing was connecting with our kids. I think for so many of us Christian parents, our desire is to really make a deep, heart-to-heart, lasting connections with our children. Stories are a simple and profound way to get there." Host Brandee Nielsen says, "I love how Sarah's book inspires families to get out from behind their smartphones and tablets to read together, which helps make lasting connections. I've heard it said that one of the greatest professions our youth should aspire to early is becoming a chiropractor. All the kids today walk around with their heads down staring into their phones." Coffee Talk Topic: There Is Hope This episode's coffee talk topic encourages us that no matter our situation or circumstance, there is hope! The Old Testament teaches us that hope is trust. In the New Testament, Paul says that Jesus Christ is our hope, just as the Prophet Jeremiah proclaimed that God is the hope of Israel. Featured Guest: Tina Levene Tina Levene is an author, speaker, a humorous motivator, and professional staff development trainer. Levene works with businesses, ministries, and educational institutions to create a safe, positive and high-performance culture by igniting passion and developing leadership skills. Long affiliated with the Florida Juvenile Justice System, Tina's famous and favorite quote is There Is Hope, which she impresses upon the troubled youth to realize their true worth and potential. Tina says "yes I'm an author, keynote speaker, yadda-yadda, but first and foremost I'm a faithful follower of Jesus. I'm a big fan of Jesus. I'm a Jesus freak! I jump on any opportunity to spread hope and instill hope in other people. Working in the Juvenile Justice system, I've had a lot of exposure to people struggling with hurts habits and hang-ups. It's hard to say there's hope to a young girl who may be a victim of human trafficking who's in jail, but there is. There is hope. One of the things I remember her saying to me is "Miss Tina when you come in here I know there's hope because I see you and I see you smiling. I always tell everyone There is Hope." Tina founded her Tina Talks Truth platform to encourage women and men who struggle with addiction and other life challenges, based on her healing journey from addiction. She says "the biggest contributor to addiction is a void inside of people that struggle with addictions. It may be low self-esteem or a broken down family component. There's no spiritual backbone or guardrail in that person's life. Something is missing. That's what it was for me. Something was always missing. So First I had to establish that there is a God. Then I had to establish that He loves me. He loves me no matter what. There are no conditions to how much God loves you." Coffee Talk Topic: A Light So Lovely This episode's coffee talk topic illuminates a light so lovely it begs us to identify and know it’s source, as well as encourages us to amplify it through our God-given gifts. Even in the face of life’s challenges such as breast cancer, or chasing the next best thing that never comes. We're joined by two guests who exemplify this light in the face of life’s pain, who share powerful testimonies sure to encourage us through the source of light for every life circumstance, Jesus Christ. Hannah Brencher and Sarah Arthur.
Coffee Talk Topic: Trading Shame for Joy This episode's coffee talk topic encourages us to trade shame for joy, so that those who have lost joy to shame in their lives, will regain the courage to seek and find it again.
Coffee Talk Topic: Joy in Conflict Host Brandee Nielsen asked Joe Battaglia, "is it even possible to experience joy in conflict?" This episode explores the possibility that it may be the very conflict between two people that brings them together. “The more we become ideologues on any side of any aisle, the more we’re going to become separated from people. Jesus never wanted to be separated from people. How do you share the gospel with someone you never want to talk to, who you think is evil, and that you want to die?” ~Joe Battaglia Featured Guest: Joe Battaglia Joe Battaglia is a thought leader, author, and speaker who's a true pioneer and veteran in Christian Media. He’s the founder and president of Renaissance Communications, a media company with a mission to provide media platforms for gifted communicators of Biblical truth. Renaissance Communications has been involved in the promotion of hit movies such as Fireproof, War Room, Risen, Courageous, God’s Not Dead, I Can Only Imagine and many more. Joe is an Executive Producer and General Manager of the nationally syndicated, # 1 ranked, faith-based radio program, “Keep the Faith.” Joe joins Christian Coffee Talk today to share about his latest book, Unfriended, Finding True Community in a Disconnected Culture. "People have looked so inward for so long, and have become so detached from people who are unlike them that the natural result is fear. Unless we go out of our way to be with people that are not like us, they will not go out of their way to tell people about us. So if we want people to talk about Jesus, we need to be in their path." ~Joe Battaglia LINKS FROM THE SHOW Connect with Joe at www.joebattaglia.com Subscribe to the Christian Coffee Talk Podcast on iTunes Podcast, Google Play Podcast, iHeartRadio, TuneIn, and Stitcher. Coffee Talk Topic: Married Couples in Ministry This episode's coffee talk topic inspires Married Couples in Ministry on a special episode that features two separate interviews, with two amazing married couples for Christ. Featured Guest No. 1: Scott and Bethany Palmer, The Money Couple Scott and Bethany Palmer are Financial Advisors, collectively known as “The Money Couple.” They're one of God's Married Couples in Ministry, with a specific assignment to help others strengthen their relationships through a scientific, behavioral finance approach. Together they've identified that we have at least 2 of 5 money personalities, published in a book called: The 5 Money Personalities. Bethany says "understanding how God made you when it comes to viewing money, is the foundation to who you are and how God Made You." Scott says "if you statistically look at marriages in America we've got a 50% divorce rate. 70% of those cited money as the number one reason for their divorce. If it were just about the budget or credit card debt, those are quick fixes. 80% of couples have opposite money personalities. So what we have to do as couples, is to learn how our differences strengthen each other." Host Brandee Nielsen says "this program is not just for those couples who are having issues with money. The program would also be fantastic for premarital counseling!" Featured Guest No. 2: Jim and Martha Brangenberg, iWork4Him Jim and Martha Brangenberg founded and host the popular, iWork4Him radio program, which encourages listeners to look at their workplace as their mission field. Jim says "we live 95% of our lives outside the four walls of the church. One of the things I get to do is to help Christ followers connect what they hear on Sunday with what they do in their 9 to 5 because their work-place is a mission field. And in the mission field, they may be the only Jesus their co-workers and employees may ever meet." Martha says "our faith is not to be compromised. Our faith infiltrates our whole life if we have given our life to Christ. How our ministry helps people is by inspiring them to look at their work-place differently. We're helping them to look at their life. To look at what they do every day and the way God has equipped them to do what they do. To look at why they're doing it, and what purpose they're giving it." Coffee Talk Topic: Overcoming Dysfunctional Coping Skills Dysfunctional coping skills involve how we react to life’s difficult challenges. We all have them, though they are more severe in some than in others. Host Brandee Nielsen says "Dysfunctional coping skills cause us to react in ways that are disproportionate with reality. These reactions can rob our joy, as well as the joy in those who are closest to us. I maintain that when believers react by bearing the fruit of the spirit during difficult situations, we come away honorable, and retain our joy in the presence of the God of peace." Featured Guest: Cole Ian Cole Ian is the founder of DID Discovering Hope. A nonprofit ministry whose purpose is to share the gospel, and offer hope and help to those who struggle with Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and, Dissociative Identity Disorder. Cole shares a powerful testimony about overcoming the dysfunctional coping skills resulting from suffering DID as a survivor of severe childhood sex-abuse. Coles says "God created our brains amazingly so that we can dissociate. But when we've been through horrific trauma, we might have different levels of dissociation. It becomes a dysfunctional coping skill. I think if I didn't have God in the process of my journey, I don't think I would be here." Coffee Talk Topic: The Mini-Mind and The Mind The heart tells the mind what to do. In other words, our hearts direct our minds. This episode’s coffee talk topic explores the mini-mind vs the mind in a powerful interview with Kelly Ballarie. Host Brandee Nielsen admits “during the summer of 2018, I took a 10-week break from publishing episodes but continued to conduct interviews. I recorded Kelly’s when I was questioning if what I’m doing by interviewing people who convey God’s messages through products for sale is right. I wondered if this is truly part of God’s plan for my purpose as a Christian podcast host. My mind was beginning to tug at my heart! I do not wish to share anything on Christian Coffee Talk that is not of good and valuable information for living life through the mind of Christ, free of charge. It was Kelly’s incredible offer to listeners at the end of our interview that confirmed in my mind what was already in my heart, and I can’t wait for you to hear it!” Featured Guest: Kelly Balarie Kelly Balarie is a passionate, national speaker, leading groups of women in spiritual growth, marriage building, and general Bible studies. Kelly is a fighter, an intercessor and a believer that God’s truth really does change lives. She loves encouraging other women who need a fresh drink of God’s grace and restoration. Coffee Talk Topic: Fighting Fear with Fact Have you ever thought that someone didn’t like you simply because they didn’t respond when you expected? Maybe they didn’t return a smile toward you while walking by. When this happens, do you internalize the worst possible scenarios and put yourself down or wallow in self-pity? Do you create reasons to believe this person is not a good person? Even worse, do you gossip about this person and sabotage any potential relationship all because you think they don’t like you? Guess what, thoughts are not facts! What we think about things or people or circumstances, is often based on our perception, but not always based on fact. In many cases, our thoughts are based on our fears. When this happens, we must fight fear with fact. Host Brandee Nielsen shares 7 Unity Values based on scripture that can help set you free from thought traps! Featured Guest: Robin Bertram Robin is an author, a seasoned conference speaker, and host of the nationally syndicated television program “Freedom Today.” Robin brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to women’s platforms across the country. Her straightforward approach and in-depth biblical insight is healing hearts and transforming lives. In this episode, Robin talks about a critical subject that doesn’t get enough attention within our Christian communities. Her latest book, Hidden Treasures, Finding Hope at the End of Life's Journey, addresses people facing life-threatening diseases, terminal illness, and the long-term care of elderly parents. Coffee Talk Topic: They’re Your Kids Your kids are just that, your kids! You get the sole privilege and obligation to decide and direct their course in life, above any institution. Today we're joined by one of the most enthusiastic and outspoken warriors for Christ we’ve had the honor to host, in Mrs. Sam Sorbo! Sam returns to Christian Coffee Talk to share about her book, They're Your Kids. An inspirational journey from Self-Doubter to Home-School Advocate. Host Brandee Nielsen says “Sam doesn't stop at sharing her homeschooling journey. She offers the largest mountain of nuggets we’ve received to date on this show. She takes us on an encouragement journey that goes against the grain and challenges the status quo. Touching on subjects that threaten our children’s Christian beliefs such as secular humanism, socialism, evolution, and more, tied to institutionalized education. You do not want to miss this episode even if you don’t have kids. But if you do, then I'm going to say it is required of you to listen to this episode. For everyone else, it's a true must!” Featured Guest: Sam Sorbo Sam Sorbo holds many titles including radio host, actress, international model, activist, author, wife, mother, and home-schooling advocate. Sam and her husband Kevin Sorbo are a powerhouse couple for Christ, who exemplify and advocate standing firm in our faith. Sam’s book titled They’re YOUR Kids, does exactly that, by encouraging parents through her own inspirational journey from Self-Doubter to Home-School Advocate. Sam says “renowned institutions (such as ivy league colleges) are recruiting homeschooled students.” But so many parents eschew the idea of homeschooling for one reason or another. One is that they don't feel adequate. Sam submits "we've been trained that we don't know anything that we haven't been specifically taught by somebody standing at a blackboard, or the equivalent thereof. And so we all think that if we don't have a degree in a particular subject, that we're just not capable, which is a fallacy. Some of our most successful people have been college drop outs. You don't have to know stuff to teach your child. You just have to have the curiosity to go and learn it. The homeschooled youth of today, is one who values education and who knows how to self-discipline. All of these great attributes that we would hope children graduating from institutions would have." Coffee Talk Topic: Open Door Living Open Door Living means to live in a posture of Hospitality as an act of service, to glorify God everywhere you are. Host Brandee Nielsen says: “In Romans 12:13 Paul teaches us to “always be eager to practice hospitality. The definition of the word hospitality means the friendly and generous reception and entertainment of guests, visitors, or strangers. I bet the first thing that comes to mind is about hosting guests in your home. This is one way to do it, but it’s not the only way. Paul was talking about hospitality as exemplified in Christ.” Featured Guest: Jen Schmidt Jen Schmidt is a popular speaker, worship leader and founder of the annual Becoming Conference. Balancing Beauty and Bedlam is a blog Jen created to encourage and challenge women to embrace both the beauty and bedlam of their everyday lives. In her latest book, Just Open the Door, Jen tackles hospitality as an act of Worship. Jen says “worship is any act that brings pleasure to God. It’s any act aimed at His glory. Hospitality, in the true sense of service, is an act of worship and surrender. It’s an opportunity we have for Christian discipleship and evangelism. I look at Jesus as the hospitality guru. He is the Master of all things welcome. Jesus walked a road of welcome and invited people wherever He was at.” LINKS FROM THE SHOW Connect with Jen at www.beautyandbedlam.com Get a copy of Jen’s book, Just Open The Door, at on Amazon! https://www.amazon.com/Just-Open-Door-Invitation-Generation/dp/1433643073 Subscribe to the Christian Coffee Talk Podcast on iTunes Podcast, Google Play Podcast, iHeartRadio, TuneIn, and Stitcher. Coffee Talk Topic: Sex By God’s Design This episode is all about sex. Yikes! Did I just write that? Well yes, in a Godly sense within marriages that is. We’ll dive deep into why women may experience intimacy blocks in their marriage, and how she can break them! Host Brandee Nielsen says, “let’s be real, we are not all having healthy sexual relationships with our husbands as God intended for us to enjoy. On the contrary, there are many women who loathe even the thought of it.” Let’s find out why in this interview! You don’t have to be married to be encouraged by our discussion, what we’re talking about is also for the marriage minded. Featured Guest: Mary Whitman Ortiz Mary is a speaker, author, and certified life coach specializing in “emotional and sexual intimacy” in marriages. Mary has a Masters Degree in Education with an emphasis on social and emotional needs of the gifted. As a trained facilitator with “Adventures in Marriage” and “Prepare-Enrich” Mary coaches couples through their intimacy blocks and into meaningful connectedness. Mary shares a mountain of nuggets from her two-book series titled, Why Can’t I Talk To Him About Sex, and Why Can’t I Talk to Her About Sex? Host Brandee Nielsen asked “are the books intended only for married couples? Can they help anyone who is marriage minded, or even those who are no longer married? Mary replied, “Oh I love the expression that you used, marriage-minded! That's a wonderful foundation. If you want to grow your marriage, heal from a former marriage, or to create a new marriage full of strength, then there are some wonderful questions in these books. The core of each book is a 20-item-questionnaire that dives into blocks to intimacy. We don't know what our blocks are. If we knew, they wouldn't be blocks anymore. So it's a deep work to identify what's going on, but once you do, you’re able to do something with it.” LINKS FROM THE SHOW Connect with Mary at www.marywhitmanortiz.com Subscribe to the Christian Coffee Talk Podcast on iTunes Podcast, Google Play Podcast, iHeartRadio, TuneIn, and Stitcher. Coffee Talk Topic: A Trophy of God’s Grace This episode covers Ephesians 2:1-10 and what it means to be a trophy of God’s grace. Host Brandee Nielsen says “Ephesians 2 teaches us a powerful truth about who we are in Christ. We learn that through Christ’s victory over sin and death, we are beholden as a trophy of God’s grace. We are created with good works prepared in advance for us to do, and to serve as His image bearer.” Featured Guest: Mona Giordano Mona Giordano is one special lady who exemplifies what it means to be a trophy of God’s grace! Mona is an inspirational speaker, author, and certified professional Christian life coach. She’s a wife, mother, business owner, and women’s ministry leader, equipping and mobilizing others in their walks with Christ. Mona has overcome many adversities. Coffee Talk Topic: Crushing Comparison Today’s coffee talk topic encourages us to stop comparing ourselves to others! Host Brandee Nielsen says “pop-culture continually reminds us that we are not good enough if we don’t look like this or don't have that, etc. Comparison is one of the enemy's most suitable platforms for wielding his campaign against us. Comparing ourselves to others can impact our emotional health and sense of self-confidence in alarming ways. And there is a spiritual impact associated because it will contradict the truth in what God says about us. If we truly understand and believe that we are who God says we are, then comparing ourselves to others cannot thrive in our minds. Read Ephesians Chapter 1:5, all of chapter 2, and Psalm139:1-18. In them we learn that we are God’s masterpiece. Fearfully and wonderfully made by His own hands. He knit us in our mother’s womb and designed us for His pleasure and purpose. He seeded in each and every one of us, good works that He prepared in advance for us to do. In God’s love and His creation, we have no rivals. So if God’s word is correct, then whatever pop culture and the enemy says about us not being good enough is a lie. And the act of comparison then has no power over us, and no place in our lives.” Featured Guest: Nicki Koziarz We’re joined by Nicki Koziarz to talk about her new book titled “Why Her” in the context of comparison, confronts the question: Why Her? Through two striving sisters in the Bible, in her new book, Nicki uncovered six truths we need to hear, when trying to “measure up” leaves us falling behind. Lysa TerKeust said “Nicki steps right into our most vulnerable places with practical ways to regain our confidence while also celebrating the success of those around us.” Nicki is a wife and mom to three girls plus a handful of barnyard babies. Coffee Talk Topic: Being The Change This episode inspires being the change we wish to see in our children’s lives as adults. Host Brandee Nielsen says “I think we use this phrase rather loosely. Coffee Talk Topic: Fight for Life with Terri Conn and Austin Peck Fight for Life. Our 50th episode honors the 54 million+ children who lost their lives due to the act of abortion. Host Brandee Nielsen says: "In 1973, Roe v. Wade was based on the rape argument claimed by Norma McCorvey. Norma was the plaintiff Jane Roe, who claimed gang-rape as the reason she needed an abortion. Years later, Norma McCorvey admitted that the rape story was a lie. Fabricated to garner sympathy for the pro-choice cause. Out of the hundreds of thousands of abortions that occur each year since, for example in the year 2011 when over 730 thousand abortions were reported, (and that’s only the number that was reported), less than 1% occurred because of rape. " This show offers intense dialogue on the subject, quite possibly in a way you’ve not heard before. Grab yourself a cup-of-joe and strap your faith-belts on in preparation to receive the riveting truth about abortion and the church! Featured Guests: Terri Conn-Peck and Austin Peck Terri Conn is an Emmy nominated actress, producer, and writer. Brandee had the privilege of meeting Terri and Austin at the NRB Convention in February of 2018 and was awestruck by their hearts for Jesus and the right to life. Coffee Talk Topics: Standing Against Racism and Standing Firm in Our Faith This episode dives deep into our responsibility as Christians to put an end to racism by adopting a no-tolerance policy in our hearts, homes, neighborhoods, schools, workplace, churches, and everywhere. Host Brandee Nielsen says “I’ve been so impressed by what the #metoo movement has done to hold people accountable for committing sexual harassment against women in the workplace. It gives me hope in knowing that when people decide as individuals to come together and take a stand against something that is morally and humanly wrong, it works to help make it right. I’d like to see the same measure of accountability applied to those who still commit acts of racism against innocent African Americans, and other innocent people of any race, anywhere it occurs.” Featured Guests: Kevin Sorbo and Sam Sorbo We’re joined by actors, Kevin and Sam Sorbo who exemplify standing firm in our faith and share about their recent film, Let There Be Light. Kayla says “every woman is intimately acquainted with feelings of insecurity and inadequacy. Whether fueled by a culture of makeover shows, by the lingering memories of mean girls, or by events much more wounding to the soul, we can become so conditioned by self-doubt that it becomes our inner monologue. What we want is to be free of shame and comparison, to turn our uncertainty into a bold confidence. And to flourish in our own skin, we first have to rewrite the narrative. Then we’ll hear from Biologist, Dr. Gordon Wilson, about his new movie, Riot and the Dance, in theaters only on April 19th. Coffee Talk Topic: The Healing Place This episode discusses Healing in the context of emotional matters, and why it’s important to move forward in God’s plan. Featured guest, author, and speaker Sharon Tubbs shares a mountain of nuggets in her new book, The Healing Place. A companion novel to her popular release, Living In The Pink! Brandee says “we all know that healing is necessary in order to get well. Like when we’ve been stricken by an illness such as a cold, or suffering an injury. However, there are many who don’t subscribe to the fact that we also need healing from emotional hurts. We all suffer from emotional hurts. Though for some, instead of charting a path to healing like we’d do when we’re sick with a cold, we push the emotional pangs down. By doing this we deceive ourselves, believing that we’re strong enough to deal with it. Or even worse, that the emotional hurt will make us stronger. The result is that we become resentful and bitter toward the situation or the people that caused the hurt, including ourselves. How many of you know we can cause a heap of hurt within ourselves based on the poor choices we make?” Featured Guest: Sharon Tubbs Sharon Tubbs is the founder of Move Forward Communications, which exists to equip others to positively impact our society. Coffee Talk Topic: Identity Christ-Is over Identity Crisis This episode addresses identity, and the fact that we're not defined by what’s happened in our past. Even if what happened in our past was all good! Host Brandee Nielsen says "We often hear those infamous quotes "our past does not define us," or "what’s happened to us does not define us." Both of these quotes are true. Bad things from our past or happening in our present do not define us. In Christ we learn that we’re not defined by the good things either." "God defines us as His adopted children. In Christ we are a new creation, without blemish and free from accusation. We are a temple of the Holy Spirit, Ambassadors of Christ who said that we are the light of the world." Bart said, “my dad went from being a monster to the guy I wanted to be like when I grew up.” Host Brandee Nielsen says “this movie is for anyone who has experienced a challenging upbringing with a dysfunctional parent. It transcends diagnosis, race, religion, and creed. It’s an incredible true story that bears witness to the love of Christ in an unlikely circumstance. This movie sheds light on hope found in the darkest places. The kind of hope that is found in the promise of God in John [3:16].” Feature Guest: Andy Erwin Andy Erwin of Erwin Brothers Entertainment shares inspirational details about the movie and its actors. Host Brandee Nielsen says "I would be remiss if I didn’t tell you that Baz is a personal friend. I can bear witness to Baz's dedication to the great commission because I'm living proof. Personally, I don’t believe in coincidences. I know that everything is God appointed. That being said, there is no coincidence that Baz’s mission is to rescue kidnapped children, and I was kidnapped when I was 15 years old for the ungodly sexual gratification of adult male. Though I escaped and went on to live a relatively normal secular life, God planned an encounter for me as an adult, to meet Baz, who pointed me to Jesus."
