Welcome back to another episode of Female emPOWERED! Today, I'm going to talk about pricing or how to price your services for your boutique fitness business or your cash-based physical therapy practice, as this can go through for any client-based business. Pricing has nothing to do with what we all think, but a hundred percent reflection on what the customer thinks or what they feel is valuable to them. It is a great idea to sometimes get some feedback from your peers, but ultimately the people we should be asking are our customers and our clients.  There are different ways to ask and gather  information without specifically saying, 'how do you feel about my pricing?'And so, for today's episode, I'm going to share with you the mistakes I see when it comes to pricing and what you can do to overcome those mistakes. So hopefully, today's podcast will give you a little bit of value when it comes to pricing your services.Let's talk about...The transformation and value you can provide your customersHow to determine your pricing based on your profitWhy you shouldn't compete with your competitors about pricingHow to overcome your mindset issuesUnderstanding what your key differentiators areLooking for advice and resources to help you market and grow your clinic or client based business? Episode 046: Female Fridays with Andrea TrombleyLet’s kick off the weekend with a brand new #FemaleFridays episode, shall we? This week on the Female emPOWERED podcast, I spoke to Andrea Trombley, founder and CEO of Andrea Trombley PT & Yoga in Vermont. Through her practice, Andrea helps older patients maintain a strong, active lifestyle with reduced stress and chronic pain.Founding her dream business after 50Andrea has been a physical therapist for 23 years, but she only recently founded her own practice, Andrea Trombley PT & Yoga, in the past few years. Let this be a reminder to anyone wondering if it’s “too late” to go for it and open their own practice! “I was about to turn 50 a few years ago and decided that if I was ever going to do what I always thought I was going to do, which was open my own business, I’d better get going,” said Andrea. “Turning 50 was really the start of my business career.” Two years in, Andrea’s physical therapy and yoga practice has completely evolved into something different than what she originally envisioned. While patients immediately flocked to her practice at the beginning, that all changed in May of 2020 because of COVID-19. Everything in Vermont shut down. With no one coming in for classes or PT services, Andrea gave notice on her practice’s physical space, which meant she’d only have it through the summer. However, she realized that she could offer virtual classes to her patients, so by September 2020, her practice was hosting four classes a week online. Andrea even renovated an unused space in her home where she hosts classes now. Andrea and I talked about other challenges she faced as a business owner, transitioning to online teaching, her work in Haiti, and much more, so tune in to the whole episode to hear it all!In this episode we discuss:Andrea’s previous work at an out-patient private physical therapy clinicWhat her first year of running her own business was likeHow Andrea pivoted and adjusted her services once the COVID-19 pandemic hitWhat Andrea’s offers for services and classes look like now, including workshops, monthly memberships, and drop-in classesTransitioning from hosting small workshops to larger workshops, and how they differed when teaching onlineAndrea’s dream scenario of the future and what her business would look likeHer work teaching physical therapy and occupational therapy in Haiti Where you can find Andrea and her business onlineFollow Andrea on Instagram at @andreatrombleydpt and Like the Andrea Trombley PT & Yoga Facebook page!Looking for advice and resources to help you market and grow your clinic or client based business? Episode 044: Female Fridays with Jackie FentonWelcome to the latest #FemaleFridays episode! My guest this week on the Female emPOWERED podcast is Jackie Fenton, physical therapist and owner of Bright Heart Yoga Studio in the Bay Area of California. Currently, Bright Heart Yoga Studio offers yoga classes and PT services in private and group settings completely online. Bright Heart Yoga Studio, pre- and post-pandemicYoga made a deep impact on Jackie’s life. It’s affected how she moves and how she deals with pain. Jackie wanted to create a cash-based practice that offered the healing powers of both physical therapy and yoga to other people.Enter Bright Heart Yoga Studio. At their initial brick-and-mortar location, Jackie hosted several small yoga classes per day and provided cash-based physical therapy services between classes. Now, Bright Heart is completely virtual because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Jackie hopes to have a new physical studio space by January 2022.One of the topics we discussed is working in a cash-based practice rather than an insurance-based clinic. Why do physical therapists and other practitioners favor cash-based services? Here’s how the experience differs between the two for patients. At an insurance-based clinic, your time and options are limited. You may not be able to choose your provider, and you’d only get about 15 to 30 minutes with the physical therapist. You’d also likely work with an aide while your PT helps another patient in the same room. At a cash-based practice like Bright Heart Yoga Studio, you can work directly with your chosen physical therapist for longer periods. That’s about 45 minutes with Jackie, which lets her get to know you better and help you heal more quickly.Jackie and I cover a lot of great topics, including her challenges as a business owner, what the future of Bright Heart Yoga Studio will look like, how growing her team has helped her and the business, and much more. Tune in to the full episode to hear it all!In this episode we discuss:What Bright Heart Yoga Studio looked like prior to the pandemic and the difference between insurance-based and cash-based practicesJackie’s caseload and experiences working in a traditional insurance-based clinic (and how draining paperwork can be)What Jackie found challenging or surprising while running her own business before COVID-19, including delegating to othersHow Bright Heart Yoga Studio evolved during the pandemic and how it will change to prepare for life after the pandemicCreating processes and batching tasks to organize and streamline timeWho Jackie brought onto the team and how it’s impacted her running the businessHow changes to the business have affected Jackie’s personal life and what wins she’s most proud ofRapid-fire question time!
