20 Affirmations – I Used to Think (Calling All Workaholics)

By Josie Ong

Affirmations for Workaholics Keeping work in check... I used to think I needed to work all the time, now I know I need balance and rest. I used to think work would give me the fulfillment I wanted. Now I know my health is my wealth and that I need to pay attention to my needs. I used to think everyone else would get ahead of me if I didn't work as hard or as much as others. Now, I know this isn't a race. This is my life and I can choose what provides the most health and happiness for me. I used to think that validation from certain people at work would be the best thing ever. Now I know that valuing the love and support from my family and friends is the best thing ever. I also know that I can affirm myself at anytime. I used to think I could sacrifice my health, family time and hobby time for the sake of work. Now, I know sacrificing my health, family time and hobby time is truly not what I want. I used to think money would bring me the happiness I longed for. Now I know true happiness is found somewhere else. I used to think taking breaks at work would hurt me. Now I know that not taking breaks will hurt me. I used to think if I stopped working I'd be missing out on something. Now I know when I stop working, I open myself up to increased productivity and creativity. I used to think the best ideas will come during work. Now I know the best ideas come when my mind and spirit are at rest. I used to think work comes first. Now I know I have to come first. I used to think I had no control over work. Now I know I control what I do, when I do it and how I do it. I used to think balance was impossible. Now I know balance is a goal that is attainable. I used to think I'd never have hobbies again. Now I know that I can budget time for the activities I enjoy. I used to think my priorities had to be rigid. Now I know I can reassess things at anytime. I used to think being satisfied would lead to complacency. Now I know that celebrating milestones brings great satisfaction. I used to think I could never do enough at work. Now I know when to say enough so that my health isn't compromised. I used to work too much. Now I work enough.
