Your Guide to Self-Care with K-Beauty

By Ulrike Scherer

K-beauty and self-care go together like sheet masks and pampering! Self-care is all the rage at the moment, and often misunderstood both by critics and proponents of the "wellness" marketing machine. For me, self-care has often been about pure survival in a world filled with more and more anxiety-inducing incidences. So, I felt that this would be a fitting topic right for The K-Beauty Podcast right after Valentine's Day, in case some of you still feel a bit raw and emotional. I'll talk a little bit about the current self-care "craze" and how it's often misinterpreted as indulgent, shallow and self-centred. Skincare is getting such a bad rep at the moment, so I wanted to say my piece regarding this. And, of course, I will also discuss why Korean beauty is so well-suited for self-care and self-soothing, and give some advice on how to support your self-care journey with Korean and Asian beauty products and rituals. DISCLAIMER: Topics of mental illness will be mentioned throughout this episode, mainly depression, so double-check if that is ok for you!
