Dan Schemmel is the head coach of the University of Hawai'i swimming and diving program. Schemmel is only the 7th head coach for the combined men's and women's team since 1987! Coach Dan had immediate success in his first year at Hawai'i by earning Coach of the Year honors and leading the Rainbow Wahine to their first conference championship since 2015. Hawai'i swimmers broke a total of eight school records and recorded 41 top-10 times in program history. Prior to joining the University of Hawai'i in 2016, Schemmel was an assistant coach at the University of Wisconsin. Dan also spent time as an assistant coach at his alma mater Michigan State and as a volunteer assistant at the University of Arizona.
