 My name is Edafe Okporo, the Executive Director of RDJ Refugee Shelter in Harlem, (http://rdjrefugeeshelter.org/) which provide a safe space and support to gay and transgender asylum seekers experiencing housing insecurities. This podcast episode is a report on the state of LGBT+ people in Jamaica and Honduras through the lens of two great activist that where killed for their work Dexter Pottinger, a well-known LGBT+ activist in Jamaica and face of the Jamaica pride and Erick Martínez Avila an LGBT activist and journalist in Honduras. LGBTQ Asylum seekers are subject to harsh conditions and this affect their mental health and stability here in America, we need to educate more people of the dangers of being an LGBT+ person in 80+ countries that criminalizes same sex relationships.
