"Poetic lyrics and haunting melodies meandering through a unique blend of folk, rock, and jazz."
Sorrow Estate is the poetic folk project of 23-year-old, singer-songwriter Laura Beth Johnson. Her sound is reminiscent of Ingrid Michelson and Julien Baker with lyrical content similar to Bright Eyes and Damien Rice. Johnson’s spoken word poem “Crazy and Special” featured on her debut album was awarded the Lucy Monro Brooker Poetry Prize in 2017. Noted in the playlists of 97.7 WEXT’s Chris Wienk and featured by Andrew Gregory on The Local 518 Show, Sorrow Estate has drawn attention as an emerging folk artist. Laura is often accompanied by her brothers and their fiancés at Capital Region venues. She performs tour dates solo, charming in taprooms, listening rooms, and living rooms alike.
