September 7th marks the release of her debut single “Something Real” on Blanca Records, a song that might bring artists like St. Vincent, Beach House and Grizzly Bear to mind. Alida comes from a jazz background, but together with co-writer Pablo Tellez and producer Matias Tellez, she has created a unique sound, drawing inspiration from everything from Bach to the Beatles.
On her own music, she says:
“I’m inspired by all kinds of music, but especially by artists such as Amy Winehouse, Serge Gainsbourg, Melody’s Echo Chamber, Kate Bush, The Beatles and classical composers like Bach and Debussy. My music might be hard to categorize, but let’s say I move in a pop/soul/Motown-ish/indie-segment.”
However, it’s not important what genre music Birgitta Alida plays, you could rather say that her music is bittersweet, honest, dreamy, and most of all catchy.
“Something Real” is the first introduction to a new and exciting artist – an artist you will hear a lot more from in the near future. More music is on its way, and a debut album is scheduled for 2020 on Blanca Records.
