When you hear your own story in a song, or an essay of mine, when my sounds give voice to your feelings, or inspires you to take a step in a direction you dream about, it gives me hope. We can find restorative energy in a world that so often feels destructive. I love offering people company, courage, and being a witness along this complicated human journey.
I am drawn to cognitive dissonance. When we think "Those things don't go together!" it gives us a chance to grow. My songs are rooted in folk music then layered with the sounds of classic rock. Folk music gives us a beautiful language to define our inner and outer dilemmas. It keeps us company. Rock gives us the grit we need to transform our lives. It gives us courage. I add to this combination my prose, written the style of a diary, a form which lays bare the heart-wrenching rise and falls of our attempts to navigate the unknown. It bears witness.
