Kara grew up in NJ, where she got her first musical experiences within musical theater. A prolific songwriter and vocalist, Kara has been writing a fusion of rock, folk and soul since her early teenage years.
In college, she honed her craft playing at Northwestern University, where she studied Radio, TV, Film and frequently played with fellow students (one was Mori Einsidler, the founder of MORI). During college, she recorded 2 EPs, "Time Grasp" and "Lake Michigan's Chill" - both representative of her early songwriting potential.
From 2013 - 2015, Kara worked on her studio abilities and continued to write, amassing a catalogue of around 100 songs, one of which was featured in Girl on Girl: A Documentary Film by indie filmmaker Jodi Savitz. This work helped Kara become increasingly comfortable with her identity and unabashed ties to the LGBT community. It was during this time that Kara also lent her vocals to LA singer-songwriter Joe Marson's track, "Stuck in the Mud".
In early 2016 she released Miami, a track celebrating the fun city and its escape. She followed up with In Blue - a piano driven ballad accompanied by a video filmed at Spaceworks, Brooklyn featuring two female dancers.
As Kara prepares to release new music, she can be seen playing around the NY scene calling venues like Rockwood, Pianos and The Bitter End home and frequently sharing the stage with others local to the NY scene (Sarah Wise, Jorscan, Amira B).
