Every band needs a distinctive voice; The Hell Yeah Babies have three. Guitarists Mike Pfeiffer and Sam Paxton and bassist Dylan Roth swap lead vocals, stack harmonies, and weave countermelodies with a joyful synergy that evokes One Direction as much as it does The Beatles.
Together with drummer Julian Ames, they craft pop songs with instantly memorable hooks but also layers of musical intrigue—the kind of songs that if you want to sing along (and you will), you’ll have a half-dozen parts to choose from. If Elvis Costello, Rivers Cuomo, and Jack Antonoff started a boy band, it’d sound like The Hell Yeah Babies.
New York's best-dressed, highest-jumping and best-harmonizing live rock band was formed while Michael was recovering from a surgery that took a big ice cream scoop of flesh off what can politely be referred to as his tailbone. Childhood friend and drummer Julian was on hand during his coalescence and with a burst of inspiration from the Japanese bit at the beginning of Missy Elliott's "Get Ur Freak On," the first Hell Yeah Babies song was written. In the coming months, a web of intrigue involving a short-scale bass and the twitter DM's of a fashion journalist would draw Dylan and Sam into the fold, respectively.
The fellas blazed a trail across every venue in New York City not slated for demolition and whipped their fanatical base into a frenzy to crowdfund their debut LP All the Things That You Believe.
Dan Ozzi of Noisey says they "Confirmed Fuck."
