NOISEY "hints of Isaiah Rashad and the bubbling lilts of Thundercat, [Louis VI] tonally sits in the new school of progressive hip-hop.”
Solange's Saint Heron calling the EP a work of "primal, introspective glory....In eight tracks, the London native fuses neo-soul inspired trap production with his personal lyrical analyses of the sometimes troubling real life state of simply being."
The young mixed-race Londoner (also 1/2 of hip hop group OthaSoul ) is quickly showing all the signs of a heavyweight hip hop artist. Following success of his debut EP, in March 2017 Louis was went stateside to meet Jowin, a producer of Isaiah Rashad, also meeting a seminal influence on his work in Erykah Badu and Pharrell Williams.
Hailing from the same part of North London as Little Simz, the Camden native is a seasoned performer, having toured internationally with his group, and as a solo artist; supporting Wu-Tan-Clan's RZA at XOYO, Souls Of Mischief at the Jazz Cafe, Talib Kweli, ELHAE, Slum Village, Loyle Carner and Joyce Wrice to name but few.
Being naturally experimental, Louis’ music is refreshingly honest, touching on various profound topics, from depression as a person of colour, to being a poor dreamer in London, fighting a system that seems stacked against him and everyone from any similar endz in the country. His background as a jazz drummer also means his production is uniquely rhythmic. He is also credited as a contributor to Frank Ocean's Magazine "Boys Don't Cry".
