RIBS is what happens when two people try to make a bedroom sound like a stadium.
The Brooklyn-via-Boston band, once dubbed “Rock’s great new hope” by the Boston Phoenix, went on to support bands they were once compared to by the Boston press, including a US/Canada tour with The Joy Formidable, and shows with Swervedriver and Queens of the Stone Age.
Self-managed and self-released, the band nonetheless managed to ignite the kind of local momentum usually bestowed upon more veteran acts: WFNX 101.7 – the first station to have played Nirvana – added the Russian Blood track “Alarms” to regular rotation after declaring “‘Alarms’ may be the best song to come out of Boston in 2012.” A few months later, the band won “Rock Artist of the Year” at the Boston Music Awards.
The band's more cinematic songs, "Queen of Hearts" and "Silencer," went on to be featured in a psychological thriller (featuring the late Brittany Murphy), as well as the most upsetting episode of MTV's Teen Mom 2, where a star's dog is mauled by another dog.
Before Russian Blood, RIBS' first release–2010’s British Brains–received seven-hundred comments in two days on Reddit, becoming the top-selling release of the week on Bandcamp and Reddit's top music post of all time.
The band is currently mixing their debut full length, Strangers.
