„For me one essence of every single visual project is a hidden tonality, a rhythm, a sound. To find and emphasize these with musical means is the focus of my work.“
Markus Aust is a Cologne-based composer, creating contemporary experimental music, video- and sound-installations. He works for film, television, radio and stage. To date he composed music for over 50 feature films and documentaries, e.g. “Lowlights“ (Lithuanian Silver Crane), “Patty’s ketchup“, “Censored Voices“ (Best Documentary Israeli Film Academy, Oscar-Longlist), "Dark Eden" (Grimme Price 2020). Markus Aust is member of the German Film Academy and the European Film Academy.
Being a trained audioengineer he places great importance on the interaction between film score, sound design and sound editing. As sound director and protagonist of the “1st GERMAN ELECTROPHONIC ORCHESTRA“ Markus Aust frequently hosts concerts at home and abroad.
