Formed by (Lazarus A.D.) drummer and (Metal Blade) recording artist Ryan Shutler in 2014, after relocating from Kenosha, Wisconsin to Sacramento, California and taking a break from extensive touring after release of their second album (Black Rivers Flow) in 2011, the follow up to (The Onslaught) released in 2007.
With the additions of former (Habeas Corpus & Art Of Chaos) guitarist Tom Jimenez, and (Slip Into Coma & Art Of Chaos) bassist Greg Sherman they soon began writing October 2014. Josh Gibson former front man of San Francisco Bay Area metal band (Kill Ritual) joining early 2015 to finalize the first line up, but was short lived after having musical differences with the rest of the group. Soon after Gibson's departure tragedy struck the band when founding member Ryan Shutler died from sudden heart failure May 17th 2015 just after the band had written, and recorded their first three songs, and were beginning to take stride. After taking a few months off mourning the loss of their band mate, the remaining members Jimenez and Sherman decided to continue Severpull as a tribute to Shutler's memory by completing and releasing the songs they had written together along with new front man/vocalist Paul Laughlin formerly of (Habeas Corpus, Colma & Strangehouse).
