Andrea Van Cleef
Singles and EPs
Andrea Van Cleef is well known in the European Stoner Rock scene as singer and guitar player for HUMULUS. His first solo record is 2012’s SUNDOG (GMP/Audioglobe). It earns rave reviews from the specialized press, comparing the record to the work of renowned songwriters such as David Crosby, John Martyn and Eddie Vedder. A 60 shows-tour around Italy, Germany and Switzerland follows. In 2018 (after two records and two EPs with HUMULUS and Van Cleef Continental, a side project) a new deal with Rivertale Productions is signed and the sophomore solo album is out: TROPIC OF NOWHERE, an electric album, with genres ranging from psychedelia to hard rock and folk rock, recorded with the contribution of amazing musicians from the Austin, Texas scene, all of them previously involved with the famous film director Robert Rodriguez: Patricia Vonne (Rodriguez’s sister), Rick Del Castillo (author of “Machete” soundtrack) and Vanessa Del Fierro (starring in a duet where Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid” is re-written in a mariachi fashion). A 78 shows- tour around Europe follows. February 2020: a new EP, 135, is out! A deluxe box set with three 7”: on the A sides three new originals penned by AVC, on the B sides three cover versions of Dr. John, Bo Diddley and Pink Floyd songs with a style ranging from stoner blues, to psychedelia, with a contamination from afrobeat rhythms.
