The title track, Eyes On The Prize, features a guest appearance by MadCons Yosef Wolde-Mariam. Absolutely everything else you hear on the EP is Sofian himself as he has chosen to perform and record his modern and minimalistic R’n’B and soul inspired music according to Nasheed principles.
Neither using nor mimicking instruments, only singing.
Neo capella if you will.
When asked why he disappeared from the music scene during the height of his fame Sofian replies that he never gave up on music, he just had to find a way for his passion for music, and his spiritual voyage, to coalesce.
Personal growth is painful, only really beginning when we accept our own shortcomings. In his quest for understanding Sofian had to overcome a lot of frustration, and accept imperfection. On realizing that his goal isn’t achieving perfection, but rather the learning, exploring and growing that he is doing in the process, re-focusing on music became not just feasible but a new and exciting challenge.
An exceptionally prolific writer of lyrics and music, Sofian wrote hundreds of songs during his extended hiatus.
He dreams, writes, speaks and sings fluently in English, Arabic, French and Norwegian.
