Johan Helmich Roman

Called the "father of Swedish music" for being the first to write instrumental and choral works that could be favorably compared to German and Italian pieces, Roman wrote at least 400 works, in most instrumental and vocal genres.

His music shows the influence of Handel. He is known for his orchestral suite Drottningholmsmusiquen (1744). ~ Mary K. Scanlan, Rovi
