Their newly released EP The Family Strange is born from this same comic-book, shadow world. This time the band examine their childhood experiences and reframe them in this deranged, and often disturbing, setting. ‘Brother’ details murderous sibling rivalry; ‘Daughter of Lucifer’ is wild rebellion and female empowerment; ‘The Meanest Little Kid in Town’ describes what it’s like to be an outsider in the playground. The Family Strange is nursery rhymes and satanic chants. It’s scraped knees and bloody noses. It’s baby pink and blood red: strength and vulnerability bound together.
Saint Agnes are Britain’s most exciting live band. Frontwoman Kitty A. Austen is an iggy pop meets Jessica Jones wild-eyed lunatic and her unpredictable stage performance leaves the audience thrilled (and terrified). With an early Nine Inch Nails disregard for equipment and personal safety, they bring a rebellious punk ferocity to their stadium-ready rock show.
