NORA has left a lasting impression on Montreal’s music scene performing in music collectives around the city and she shows no signs of slowing down. Wherever she performs, her ease and energy on stage charms crowds. Born and raised in Morocco, Nora Toutain lived in India before she made her way to Canada at the age of 18. Starting music at a young age, by her teens she was classically trained in violin while also developing her talents on guitar, piano, and vocals. Nora Toutain’s vast musical capabilities is heard in the eclecticness of her sound.  Her brand of alternative r&b music can be described as music that seamlessly moves across genres like pop, neo-soul, funk and jazz, with hints of afro rhythms -- which she claims is a direct reference to her musical upbringing and early cultural experiences. Nora Toutain’s musical start in Montreal began while studying at McGill University, she found a home in Kalmunity, Canada’s largest music improv collective known for attracting a diverse range of musicians from all over the world. From there, she went on to further her studies at the University of Montreal studying Jazz Performance.  This will be a big year for Nora Toutain.
