“I was the tallest and the most quiet girl in the school yard. I found it hard to put words together.
I felt that I had no voice outside of home.
I used to sing karaoke like all kids my age did, I was part of the school choir and I remember doing a solo performance of ‘Beautiful’ by Christina Aguilera at school when I was 14. Singing in front of hundreds of students, teachers and parents was a big deal at the time.
I was forever trying to imitate the sound and emotion of big female vocalists such as Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, Britney Spears, Whitney Houston and Kate Bush until my throat was hurting. At 16 I picked up an old Spanish guitar from the loft and wrote my first song within weeks. I was lucky to meet a great guitarist who became my guitar teacher. Singing lessons helped me adopt the right technique, fix my throat and extend my vocal range.
I am still quiet but feel I've found my voice through music. I write, produce and perform. I am passionate about developing my vocals further as it is my primary instrument. I want my voice heard, recognised and kept natural.” ***** Leena Voxx captivates with her electro-natural pop sound, infusing big melodies and vocals with emotional lyrics.
