Formed in 2007, Violet Road didn’t have the fastest pace out of the starting blocks. They released their debut album ”Letters” in 2008, and it looked like the band, consisting of Kjetil Holmstad-Solberg and the Rundberg brothers, would stay hidden in the smaller clubs and basements of their hometown Tromsø.
But, aiming for more, the band started touring and got the attention they needed to land a record deal, and with their second and third album, ”Violet Road”(2011) and ”Peter Every and his marching Band” (2013) they gained considerable radio plays and national attention. With the critically acclaimed ”Back to the Roadshow” (2014) they really hit the sweet spot in the live market. With their next album ”In Town to get You” (2016) they saw their biggest tour so far.
Violet Road has become known for great live shows, with huge musical spans, but always with Kjetils lead vocal and the brothers’ harmonies glued in as one big trademark. They always want the crowd to leave a concert full of every emotion possible.
Having produced a lot of their albums themselves, or in collaboration with others, they wanted a different approach for their newest album. Joel Hamilton (Tom Waits, The Black Keys, Highly Suspects, Sparklehorse, Bomba Estereo etc.) was chosen to produce and mix the album which will release later this fall.
The first single, ”Monument”, is featured in the newest NSB Train campaign in Norway, as well as listed on the biggest Norwegian radio channel NRK P1.
