Jovan Landry is a Chicago-based interdisciplinary artist. The "One-Third Emcee" and producer is known for her articulate lyrics and energetic stage presence, matched with an androgynous-athletic swagger. Her music influences include Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, Method Man, Busta Rhymes, Common, Eve, Kendrick Lamar, Rapsody, Shawnna & Missy Elliott. In the span of a decade, Landry has self-released 5 projects, taught music workshops, and graced stages throughout the U.S and internationally. In 2016, Landry formed her 4-piece band "The Land" that enhanced her live performance. In 2017, Jovan was awarded the WeWork Creator Award to bring together 50+ Chicago creatives to produce Synergy, the first all-women produced & performed hip-hop album. Since its 2019 release, the collective has donated CD copies to Universal Hip-Hop Museum archives, hosted a music workshop series for young women, featured on ABC7 Windy City Live, NPR and the Women in Hip-Hop Conference at St. Louis University.
