Their 1998 debut album, “Down and Out at The Club Cruella” was released on their own Diogenes Records and has become a minor cult classic amongst fans of the weird and retro worldwide. Despite splitting up in 1999, the band had tracks featured on Anagram Record’s 2007 'Deathrow' retrospective of 1990s psychobilly bands and Skully Records influential ‘Gothabilly’ compilation in the US.
The Phantom Cowboys reunited in Summer 2015, playing a reunion gig in their hometown of Norwich. Further dates followed, and in late 2016 the band released an EP of new, original material entitled 'Dead Men's Clothes'. Widely praised as a comeback, one review hailed it 'a masterpiece of morbid entertainment', another simply that the band were; "Dark, clever, melodious and urbane as f*ck."
