In 1979 he recorded his first LP, "Muchacha Muchacha", with RCA Victor de México. That same year he participated in the eighth edition of the OTI international festival, the OTI 1979, in Caracas, Venezuela.
In February 1982 he won the award for "Best Interpreter", with Leonor Porcella de Brea's song "Ven y Abrázame", which obtained the ninth place, in the "Octavo Festival of the Dominican Song" of AMUCABA, held at the Teatro National.
In November 1983 he participated in the program "Siempre en Domingo", on Televisa, Mexico.
In 1986, the Casandra Awards recognize the record production "Dos Estrellas Omar and Taty a Medianoche", which she made together with Taty Salas, with the "Cover of the Year" award.
Omar Franco has performed on most of the nightclubs, clubs, discos, resorts and TV shows in his country. As in some TV shows in Puerto Rico, and New York.
