The album process began in early 2016. Young teamed up with producer, Ike Breton Van Groll, to collaborate on one track together, which eventually turned into five songs over the next twelve months. The process included many late night sessions of Young sharing lyrical snippets and not-quite-finished-melodies with Van Groll. In fact, many of the songs that made the album were unfinished ideas hidden away in old emails.
After a year of recording, the album was mixed in Nashville by Chad Howat (Paramore) and mastered in Los Angeles by Eric Boulanger, who has worked with artists such as John Legend, One Republic, and Selena Gomez.
Rich with emotion alongside pop-driven melodies, the debut EP chronicles a critical period of self-discovery and growth.
