Haroula means “little joy” in Greek. Haroula Rose Spyropoulos was born in Chicago and grew up singing in choirs, bands and theater.
After college she spent two years based in Madrid and travelled throughout Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa on a Fulbright scholarship. Upon her return to the U.S. she settled in Los Angeles and embarked on a career as a folk singer/songwriter. She self-released her five song debut EP, “Someday,” in 2009. Her first full-length studio album, “These Open Roads,” followed in 2011. The “So Easy” EP was released in 2012, and her second studio LP “Here the Blue River” in 2016, with her own label Little Bliss via Thirty Tigers. Many singles, remixes, and covers have also been released. Rose has toured throughout the US, Canada and the UK as well as in Europe followed by a twelve city tour of China, Taiwan, Thailand and Macau. She has held residencies at the Hotel Cafe and The Bootleg Theater in LA, as well as showcases at SXSW.
