Raphaël Pichon began his musical career as a boy soprano in the Maîtrise des Petits Chanteurs de St-François at Versailles.
As he matured, he studied violin and piano at the Versailles Academy, then pursued voice and conducting at the Paris Conservatoire. He has performed with Ton Koopman, Jordi Savall, Gustav Leonhardt, Laurence Equilbey, Jean Tubéry, and Paul Agnew, among others. In 2006, Pichon founded the choral ensemble Pygmalion, which specializes in period-style performances of Baroque music, and they have collaborated with Opéra de Bordeaux in productions of Rameau's Castor et Pollux and Dardanus. Pichon also conducts the chamber choir OTrente, which performs mostly Romantic and modern works. He has recorded for Alpha Productions, Erato, and Harmonia Mundi.
