Nico Bereciartua is a musician and composer. Born in Buenos Aires in
1980, he was raised in a family of musicians. He started playing guitar at
the age of 12 after listening to Robert Johnson and quickly got deep into
slide guitar. In 2002, he founded the band Viticus with his father. They
toured South America and Europe and released four studio records. In
2004 Nico also joined the iconic Argentine band Riff.
Rolling Stone magazine named him one of the best guitar players of
Argentina and in 2015 he released his first solo record, an instrumental
album that won The Carlos Gardel Award in 2016, which distinguishes
outstanding achievement in Argentine music. He also is part of Playing
For Change, a movement that records musicians all over the world and
already built music schools in Africa, India and South America.
In 2016 Rich Robinson, founding member of The Black Crowes, asked
Nico to join his band. They toured all over the United States and
recorded a live album with different members of The Black Crowes.
That band became The Magpie Salute and in 2017 they played 77 shows
along the United States, UK and Europe.
Nico is currently in Argentina working on his second album.
