Were Sorry”, together with the group Damn! – also known as Timbuktu's highly energetic
Apart from the Damn! collaboration, Shirin has her own live band.
”We started playing together three and a half years ago. Drums, bass, piano and – more
recently – a girl who sings backing vocals, handles pads and plays percussion. You can't buy
a really good band for money. They carry you as a singer, and make you perform at the top
of your ability”.
Shirin's mother comes from Germany, and her father is from lebanon. Both are doctors.
”In fact, most of my immediate family are doctors! My parents, my aunt, my cousin, and my
grandfather. The only one who's not a doctor, is my grandmother on my mother's side, who
is an interpreter”, Shirin smiles.
She describes herself as ”an old soul”. Her childhood was divided, both geographically and
laguage wise. She had to move a lot during her childhood, and when she was six years old,
her parents split up. Music became an outlet where she could deal with anger frustration and
