He has collaborated with Aaron Shorr, Jan-Philip Schulze, and Julian Perkins, and performed with his own Kreutzer Quartet and the Ensemble Triolog. With a repertoire that extends from Baroque to modern music, Skærved has recorded works by Georg Philipp Telemann, Giuseppe Tartini, Franz Joseph Haydn, Ludwig van Beethoven, Michael Tippett, Bernd Alois Zimmermann, Nigel Clarke, David Gorton, Michael Alec Rose, Elliott Schwartz, Paul Pellay, David Matthews, and Sadie Harrison, among others. Skærved has played Paganini's "Il Cannone" violin on five occasions, and given recitals using historical instruments from the collection of the Library of Congress. He plays a 1698 Stradivarius violin that was once owned by Joseph Joachim and is part of the collection held by the Royal Academy of Music. Two of his recordings feature historic violins by Andrea Amati and Niccolò Amati. Skærved has recorded albums for Toccata Classics, Naxos, Athene, Metier, Meridian Records, and Albedo.
