On Friday, October 30, Sweetheart will release their long-awaited debut album «Sweetheart». The album stays true to the trio’s minimalistic and quiet expression where both lyrics and melody are ridden by melancholy.
All songs are written by lead singer and guitarist John-Arne Gundersen; in the kitchen, with the sound of trains rolling by, the children sleeping on the second floor, and the wife occasionally away on work trips to Stockholm. The album was recorded by Kenneth Ishak at Observatoriet Studio in Oslo in six hectic days, in a quiet, desolate and hand sanitized city center, in the spring of 2020. The album is produced by Sweetheart in collaboration with Ishak, who has previously recorded and produced award winning albums. Tor Egil Kreken from Darling West visited the studio and graced a few songs with his banjo. Christer Engen, of Bigbang and Turbonegro fame, arrived late one afternoon with his sunglasses, tambourine and shaker.
