Alper Tuzcu’s newest EP Lines will be available in the iTunes Music Store, Spotify and Amazon Music beginning November 17, 2017.
Recorded in Boston and released by Palma Records, the EP expands upon Tuzcu’s 2016 eclectic debut album Between 12 Waters by navigating through the themes of being lost, rising above and ultimately being found. The Boston-based singer-songwriter wrote these three songs in a triangle of Los Angeles, Boston and also on a boat at the Mediterranean.
Stylistically, the songs on this EP sound like Paul Simon meets Avishai Cohen and Diana Krall. Online music publication Sound of Boston defines Tuzcu’ music as: “Bringing his Turkish background to a modern American sound, his latest singles (…) exhibit his profoundly diverse past.” Inspired from indie folk, jazz, fado, flamenco and melodies of Turkish folk music, Lines represents Tuzcu’s versatile background as a vocalist, guitar player and a composer. Moreover, his lyrics frequently use universal symbols to tell stories across the cultures using titles such as Lighthouse, Suitcase and Lines in Her Palms. Lines is melancholically realistic for depicting getting lost, but it is also optimistic and hopeful through portraying the individual’s journey of being found.
