Currently signed to superstar Smith's SteelHead Music, Austin's success hasn't come overnight, but after years of dedication, performing in local clubs and bars, crafting his smooth and sultry, laid-back sound.
Though his style may often be compared to that of Grammy-winning icon John Mayer and country heavyweight Brett Eldredge, it was more than Austin's chill vibe and honest lyricism that first caught Smith's attention.
"I came across Shawn's powerhouse voice when a close friend (and Shawn's co-manager Barry Jorgens) sent me the music demo Shawn was working on," he explained. "It was an instant . . . 'who the hell is that?' moment."
It's the same kind of magnetism that has made Austin one of the Top 10 most-played Canadian artists on country radio, and why Smith and partners Alex Seif and Scott Cooke knew he was a perfect addition to the team.
