Soya the Cow is a singer, a dreamer and an activist. With her voice and irresistible beats, she fights for the freedom of everybody. Soya's debut album "Purple Grass" was developed with the composer, pianist and producer Philipp Constantin and will be released in the spring 2021. Her lyrics take the subjective experience of the dairy cow as a starting point and tell stories of grief, empowerment and hope. Powerful electro-pop anthems stand alongside intimate ballads accompanied by the piano, all cohesively held together by Soya’s palpable passion for justice, a captivating sense of humour and her agile and powerful voice. The human behind Soya the Cow is Daniel Hellmann, a multidisciplinary artist from Switzerland, living between Berlin and his hometown Zürich. After many years in the theater world, he created Soya the Cow as an answer to the discomfort he felt looking at the horrors of the animal industries and the ongoing climate crisis. Since Soya's first performance at the Animal Rights March in front of the legendary Volksbühne Berlin, she appeared in discussion forums and protests. She gives workshops about consent, and performs on stages of theatres and nightclubs, as well as in public space. Highlights were her performance at Melt Festival 2019 and her one-cow-show "Dear Human Animals" presented at Theater Gessnerallee in Zürich in November 2020.
